How Much Is Too Much Oxycodone For A Male At Weight Of 225 Lbs (Page 2)
UpdatedI would like to know what would cause an overdose in a male who is 225 lbs. in weight using oxycodone. I have over 220 5 mg. tabs.
Newish pain meds:
--------------------------------
Zohydro (extended release hydrocodone). People really have their panties in a wad over this one. See news stories such as "Critics fear new painkiller’s ‘frightening’ potency". Ohh noo!
Targiniq ER (oxycodone HCl/naloxone HCl controlled-release)
Xartemis XR - This is instant AND extended release PERCOCET. (Personally I'm quite interested in this one.
Nucynta and Nucynta ER (Tapentadol)
I aplaud your tenacity and strength. Best to you.
Yes. The acetaminophen (Tylenol) in Percocet would put you in liver failure before the amount of oxycodone would most likely stop your breathing. Oxycodone (not contin) can be prescribed without the acetaminophen added to it.
Dear unabridged agony, You are in a very unenviable position especially with an athlete's history of your body do what you have trained for. I went through a very tough patch with my father-in-law. He had had a wonderful life, filled with satisfaction, service to others, etc., etc. He was a tough act to follow, but I have done my best. My point is that in the last 6 months of his life he was in constant pain physically and mentally. We were extremely close and he was very frank about his situation. I had heard of a book that has been out in print for decades, entitled "Final Exit". It is a wonderfully constructed book for anyone who is desperate for a dignified, legal, well-informed suicide. My father in law very much appreciated the book and its layout of ones options. There is a community of volunteers that are available for a variety of needs up to and including organizing a safe, successful suicide. The book is a tremendous resource for any question one might have and strong advice for those considering a risky means that may well be unsuccessful. I would suggest the purchase of the latest edition, because laws and information continue to change. I guarantee that you will feel calmer, much better informed, and in a position to see help through their network. Everyone has family and friends to consider. It would be a sorry thing to find peace for one's and leave a friend or relative with a life long burden of sorrow or guilt. The book will help you deal with all of these aspects of a decision. What is somewhat surprising is that once a person has read the book and acted on its advice, only a small portion of people end up using suicide as a means of death. The book does NOT attempt to push you in any direction. It simply provides excellent information about how, when, etc. to make your end as gentle to yourself as it can be for others. My father-in-law chose hospice care, which is an excellent option we are unaware exists. He died 7 hours after arriving. We miss him terribly but we are so grateful that he went with dignity and calm.
I'm about to take all my pills. I'm in extreme pain since being in an accident 3 weeks ago. Have been in pain for 20 years, which increased 5 years ago, but now I can't handle this amount!
Been trying to get doctors to provide some relief, but my symptoms don't make sense, they never gave, so I'm not believed!
And the spinal steroid injection I received 2 weeks ago just made everything worse!
I've had enough!
i have 24/7 18 mos nothung works recently had hernia op and it is compounded,,,ikidneys shut dwn came back but goy so much blood in bladder wonder if ever recover stay away fr surgery if possible I am at end of rope and wish lived in euthenasia State is anyone getting relief in any way?
For those with severe pain. I have been on Hydrocodone, then oxycodone (20mg) for many years. Every four hours I would pop a pill, they did not work, Finally three months ago I was referred to a pain specialist. He prescribed time released morphine 30mg. It works! Every eight hours I take one pill. I work full time and feel much better.
Only problem is you need to find a doctor to prescribe it!
I used to have liquid morphine sulphate. One squirt and pain gone. But now I'm having difficulty finding a doctor who believes I'm in pain as I have just moved and starting from square one again!
I've been on 30 mg. 2x mscontin daily and 30 my oxycodone 4 day for break through, which some days I need to take an extra just to work. I work construction. I need dlb. Knee replacement server arthritis in knees, neck, back now shoulders. Aldo degeneration of spine, bone spurs and necks so bad they thought it was brokin and have very sever arthritis in neck. im in constant pain were some days it impossible to even work. I had to take a UA 2 months ago, It came back in 30 days later and was told I had almost no level of either drug in my body. This is first time in 4 years I was every checked for levels. I was checked we it the quick UA to see if I was taking my med or any illegal or until prescribed drugs, which I never failed. How can I have so low of levels on both drugs??? I do pass alot, always thirsty were sleeping is big problem because I'm up almost every 1/2 hour. Same during day. Always rushing to bathroom. Sometimes not making it. I had blood work w high came back normal, but they forgot prostate examination, which they drew blood again now to analyze. I had tumor removed from neck a year ago which came back negative. I have lost 100 lbs, at first on an kind diet which always worked for me. I tried to get weight off knees. I did have gel shots put in knees which helped a lot. I was read flagged with low levels with UA. On both drugs, which I take as prescribed, sometimes less on on oxycondone since gel shots.. well Doc accused me of not taking mess at all and must be selling them.. I was floored. I do everything he ask of me, ..I was paying $150 every month just to get script on top of paying cash for mefs. Since I got insurance his attitude has changed
My main question is why low levels...is there maybe something else wrong with me. 2 years ago I weighted 300 lbs, was built like a rock and in pat 2 years I look like a cancer patient. My muscle tone is gone along with my strength. I'm 6'7" tall. So at 300 I didn't look bad, I took weight off to save my knees. I climbed ladders for 30 years, worked construction. All heavy work. If my levels come back again low, I'll be disvh as red and red flagged, meaning no doctor will ever write a script for mefs I need. I can't have knee replacement because I have no money to live on while rehapping, or family to stay with. I'm 56, feel 80, and anxiety and depression is starting to set in , which I told doctor and he looked st me like I was lying.. I'm sick of the pain, the doctors, the pain meds and have absolutely no quality of life. I barely am bearly able to support myself and end up borrowing money, I worry every minute about work. Rent and bills. Now I worry about getting cut off of meds. It's no w as y to live and I'm st my ropes end. dooo.. WHY THE Low Levels. Anyone have a clue!!!
Actually most of us chronic pain sufferers, feel the worst of pain that very second upon waking up in the morning, that you claim being a chronic pain patient of over 30 yrs, you should know this, not trying to knock rudely on your door, just saying what I know to be the honest truth for most of us that live in chronic pain. Do you supplement you pain meds w/ any vitamins, herbs, minerals, or amino acids? I would like to share w/ you what really helps me out & I know it does many others as well. First off taking a good quality Calcium/Magnesium supplement (make sure it has vitamin D3 in it, for proper absorption & delivery) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY BEING THE AMAZING & wonderful Black Seed oil or just the ground capsules being the herb is 50% oil by weight alone, it will synergize w/ your pain meds., or if not taking pain meds it controls pain alone & w/ in itself. It's known to cure everything but death according to the prophet Mohammed & its also great for inflammation, and so many other remedies, I've been in your shoes & I've too suffered many years but refuse to take ALL the pain meds they want me to be on for my condition, a few 15mg oxycodone are enough for me & I can really get the most out of them using the two items I mentioned. I hope this helps you & others, regardless of the posts date you should still get the message as to read this, wishing you the best & by the way, it's 3:45am & I'm awake & on the computer because my pain level woke me up & I had to get up make some hot green tea, do my business to say, lol, & take one 15mg oxycodone IR and know I'm going to take some black seed also, then hopefully catch a Lil more sleep till I have to get up & go to work. Being a chronic pain patient, person what have ya, SUCKS! Though I try & stay positive, & I will not say I don't have my bad days I'm just stating that, you must try & be positive & know it could be worse, we could be w/out any help & to all you junkies & pill heads I just want to say stop destroying our lives & the little help we have for heavens sake. I TRULY WISH ALL THOSE WHOM ABUSE PILLS THE WORST, you make us true chronic pain folks look bad & it's only getting worse, & what do you care? If you truly need pain medication help see a doctor hopefully a compassionate one & get some help but your road will end badly & you will be taking out lots of good folks on your trip, sorry to ramble I get upset on this subject. Take care to you all & I hope you keep up the good fight. Namaste'
Your doses are WAY to low on the oxycodone. Ask your doc to put you on 30mg 6 times per day, one every four hours... BUT, TRY to just take four a day if you can...dont get started on the fentynal garbage..
I've had 16 major operations 6 one my spine alone so I live with major pain issues. I've been on every pain med imaginable... everybody is different to be sure, but for me, Oxycodone 30 mg x's 4 or 6 per day max, keeps that edge off.
You may never see this but you're a damned warrior. You make old warriors like me feel both proud and humbled at the same time. I salute you.
Find a new Dr. Clearly things are not working well with the one you have especially if he/she gets upset with you for coming in. I also struggle with finding the right meds so I understand what you are going through. I'm surprised the fentanyl didn't help because it is considered the strongest out there. It helped me a lot but my skin kept breaking out from the patch.
Anyway, you need a Dr you can have a better relationship with in my opinion. Take care & good luck!
I'm a 42 year old man who was in a bad truck reck in 2006 and it gave me crps of upper right extremity and i'm on methadone 10 mg 4 times a day plus 15 mg oxy 3 times a day as needed plus nuerontin and muscle relaxants and I was told by my dr. yesterday that i'm on max amount pain meds so he can't help my pain i'm just supposed to deal with it and he's new at my dr.s office and he acts like this is my first visit does it bother anyone else that dr.s now of days don't take time out to even look at ur file to even see how long u have been on a script or even see how many different things u have tried to relieve ur pain before they judge u
Dear Unabridgedagony.
I can feel your pain. No car wrecks for me, only childbirth. While working, picking up a box of ball caps ( 24 ea.) I blew out my first disks. They were L 3 & L 4. Due to my pregnancy, I had to wait for one (1) year to be repaired. After my beloved son came. Off to surgery I went. My Surgon was the best around. Thinking that he could do no harm, I ended up having two (2) more surgeries done. Right after the first surgery, I didn't feel a relief in the pain. Surgeon thought I liked my Meds too much. Finally got a second MRI, he found the repairs he made were totally gone. First. Surgery laminectomy, second instrumentation. I was very mad he had put "the liking of Meds report". Learned right then, they were capable of mistakes. I have been on a main trance dose of OxyContin 40 mg. three (3) times daily with Xanax 10 mgs. three times daily. Fast forward 16 yrs.later, we moved and I decided to give up the Xanex. Did the detox at home. Within one (1) month, I tapered off the Xanex. Would not have taken this medication had I know what hell it was going to get off them. It has taken two (2) years to achieve a new maintance dose for me.
After many failed attempt, I am now on 80 mg. three (3) times with oxycododone ten (10) mgs. three (3) times daily. I found out, threw my new doctor, that if have four (4) cervical disk, three (3) thoracic disk, and four (4) lumbar disk, plus S1 root sac, compromised. After two (2) more surgeries, I am at least able to get out of the bed. I have felt like "giving up" several times. There is something or someone that GOD has used to change my mind. Now, I am faced with a husband, who doesn't want to be on this marry-go-round any more. We all have heart wrenching stories, but if I do this life right, I will have a brand new body in Heaven. This is the only way for me to endur this world. I pray that you have that something or someone in your life. Take each day at a time. I am no expert, doctor or minister, just a sister in pain with all of the fellows that have written before me. I pray you can find your peace.
Do you have neurological pain?
To Brooke,
If someone is talking about breakthrough pain or medication for breakthrough, they are the ones with neurological pain. All others are looking for a high. In a perfect world these others would not jeopardize the ones that have to take this medicine to survive each day. I pray for them and the survivors to have a "perfect day" always.
You deserve a medal for your courage.
Kind regards.
God bless u! U r an AMAZING and very strong woman. I am inspired by your story. Thank u SO MUCH for shareing it with us.
