They are not in the same class of medications, so there is no way to convert one to the other.

Xanax contains the active ingredient Alprazolam, which is a Benzodiazepine that's most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders.

However, Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine that's used to treat allergic reactions, insomnia, to prevent nausea and for its sedative like effects.

So, they just aren't interchangeable and, for either one, you shouldn't take more than your doctor has prescribed, because doing so may be dangerous.

The answer is zero. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Xanax is a potent benzodiazepine class drug while hydroxyzine is an antihistamine with anti emetic properties for a quantitatively similar substance. Consult your doctor for an effective alternative if it's medically necessary.

Keep it up and not only will we not find a doctor to prescribe Xanax or Vicodin, we wont be able to get a script for Vistaril, either !!!! Please use your heads, people !! So tired of abusers ruining it for those of us who truly need anxiety or pain medication !!

The gov is going to make a drug harder to obtain based on their beliefs. Not only are abusers not "ruining it" for you, but many abusers ALSO HAVE ANXIETY. On top of that, addiction is a mental illness just like anxiety. Stop acting like you're better when you're mentally ill JUST. LIKE. US.

You don’t fix the issue and all people are just laughing again just move on. Trust me you’ll still get your medication. No one’s going to mess that up but you are going to mess up other people that are just asking questions MoveOn and just stop thinking you’re better than everyone because you don’t use… or you think that your medication isn’t addictive drug just move on. And stop writing on notifications if you don’t have some thing to benefit it with for real.

I am prescribed hydroxyzine and alprazolam and hydroxyzine is nothing compared to alprazolam. They aren’t even in the same field. However, psychiatrists do often prescribe OTC benydryl for mild depression. It does seem to help and benydryl is comparable to hydroxyzine. I take hydroxyzine when I fly and to help sleep at night. I’m prescribed 50mg four times a day as needed. I do feel a sense of needing to take more for the same desired effect. I never take more than 2 at a time. Nevertheless, hydroxyzine nor benydryl are a benzo. Be safe

Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine that is commonly prescribed for itching associated with allergies. Xanax is a short-acting benzodiazepine used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. There is NO amount of Hydroxyzine that is comparable to Xanax.
