I have consulted with someone in my family who is a doctor, I sprained my wrist and got a brace. And they told me the best thing to take is an anti-inflammatory called Naproxen. How long does Naproxen stay in someone's system.

I'm having an epidural spinal injection tomorrow morning, I took two Aleve this morning after running 8.5 miles. Will it be safe for me to get the injection? I have drank a lot of Gatorade ane water since taking the Aleve.

As with anything, whether it be drugs, food or drink, you should not take them if they are out of date. The date is on the packet for your safety, and you could experience more adverse effects from taking out of date medication.

Also some medications can begin to loose their effectiveness passed the expiration date, so it would be best in your case to just request a new prescription given the length of time it has been out of date. However, if you'd really like to be certain about the pills degradation, you would have to take them to a lab and have them tested for quality. I don't know how to go about that procedure, but I am sure it will be cheaper and less stressful to just get a refill. Hope this helps!

My remaining naproxen tabs are 1-2 years out of date. Are they still effective? Or should I request a new prescription?

I found a bit of mixed information regarding this. Some sources state that the elimination half-life of naproxen is approximately 15 hours, thus it is expected to be out from your system in 30 hours; while other sources tell me that it generally stays in your system for up to 72 hours.

This information however is also dependent on the user's lifestyle, like weight, age, diet, exercise habits, whether or not your are taking other medications as well, etc. Based on the above information it would be safe to assume that Naproxen would be out of the system in a few days time (or less if the user is an active individual with a healthy diet).
