I have been taken methadone now for 4 years and at my highest dose was 110mg. I am now down to 3mg. Now and i just want to Stop It, i did not take it on monday, but took on Tuesday, i normally would take every day. However when i was on higher dose i could go up to 3days without take it and not feel a thing. My question is. How long will it be till its 100% completely out of my system, blood urine. and will i be ok heath wise just STOPING it.

To thine ownself be true ,im all for pych meds if u need m ur prob b n questioned by addicts that dope fien drs out of scripts of xanex , i did it untill my life became unmanageable my anxiety was self diagnosed depression all situational and i beefed it up to get xanys off drs it isnt fair but its a fact they are potent and very addictive weigh it out

i completely agree.hence in my post,number 46 i stated that methadone is an opiate blocker so taking an opiate is pointless.stick to one and start stepping down if you want to quit obviously.ive been on methadone for almost 10 years,and its been a waste of almost 10 years of my life.goo dluck.btw these are just opinions so please understand these are comments of what I ME alone feel,thanks and hope it helps.

Well Ive been on and off methadone for over 22 yrs my experience is its the worst drug to come off Im clean now 4 yrs but methadone takes a good 2 months two months to withdraw from
I was a heroin addict most of my life couldn't get off it till i found a hp an 12 step program i kicked 90 mg in prison cold its not fun or even torture its murder thanks

well I take methadone 10 milligram tablets every day for 4a day I'm prescribed them for pain I don't know why when I ask you a question online I have to get questioned and people imply different things it's not right and its not fair for the people who aren't using them recreationally.

I agree with u 100% im in the shoes u used 2 b n i cnt get docs 2 c my struggles & wut im going through every single day/night The docs wnt 2 use me as a ginny pig put me on all different meds that take weeks to build in your system that don't work that makes you feel weird even lyk u wnt 2 die. & u know wut meds work but they say xanax is a habit drug lets not prescribe that but Damn its what helps Right?
i USED 2 b a fun loving person now j dnt care if 2mor even comes.
So No ppl shldnt judge others

I got given methadone 16 years ago for pain management. Its one drug I would never take again. I lost 16years of my life to it. I was at 80 mill gram a day two ten mil gram four times a day. About two months ago I started weining myself off it. I'm now finally free of it. Sunday was my last time. Every three days I dropped down the dosage. Now I'm four days without. I'm not sick. I feel better then ever. This is not for every person. Most that have taken it as long as I did should never do this on their own as you could go into seizers. And it can kill you. Rehabs not for me so I chose to do this at home. The last two months have been the worst months of my life. Unless you want a life of pain stay away from this. Nothing is worth the use of this drug. The downfall is drastic. I hope this helps

It's all about bioavailability and half-life of the drug. Methadone can range, but typically has a bioavailability between 60-90%. Thus means that if you take 10mg, only 6-9mg are actually converted by your body into something useful (what they test for). Then, the half life means that half the metabolized medicine will be out of your system. So, say it's half-life is 24 hours, that means every 24 hours (approximately), half of what was taken is eliminated from the body (assuming 90% bioavailability).
Example: 10mg orally --> ~9mg bioavailable --> after 24 hours, half is left (~4.5mg) --> after the second 24 hours, you're left with approximately 2.25mg......and so on.
Of course, both bioavailability and half life are dependent on the person and their metabolism, sensitivity to the drug, length of use (methadone builds up reserves in fat cells for long term users).....

If you have not been taking 'done' for a very long time you SHOULD do everything you can to get off of it. It leads to alot of pain and misery. Hydro is a good drug for pain, but you have to be careful about the APAP - it will kill you.

Anxiety was hell? Benzo wds hell x2 then...ask around...benzos should only be prescibed short term,..most drs havent read the ashtons manual in med school....there are other effective anti anxiety meds...good luck. May peace be wirh you all..
