i take gabapentin but i haven't been taking it cause i'm going to surgery but now i am paying for it i need to know if i take today will it bother me with the anesthesia

Reading all these posts make me remember horrible horrible memories. I am now 350 days clean and were planning my one year party. There's a song that is stuck with me by Jamey Johnson, its called the cost to live in you should listen to it. Trying to pass a drug test, trying to skip a drug test, trying to cheat a drug test, and I ain't worth it. You can get clean if you want to get clean, if you don't want to get clean you're not going to get clean. Yes, It absolutely does show up on a drug test. I'm on probation and have to drop every single week. I Did
test positive.

Don't say its not on any drug test... its not on a standard drug test but, for people that have had opiate addictions and go to those types of clinics or prescribed suboxone or methadone their doctors will sometimes test for it because it can be lethal if taken while taking either of those.

What about for a stick test from a Probation Officer cause I have been in neurotin for a long time and they told me I couldn't take them anymore cause try are a narcotic now but I searched it and it has not been passed yet I took one 600mg this Sunday passed but I go see my Probation officer this Wednesday coming which is tomorrow?

That is not accurate. My husband failed his drug test over gabapentin. He hadnt taken it in at least 2 weeks and somehow he tested positive for high levels. This was a urine test that the clinic sent to the lab.

I take 900 mg in evening for pain & 600 during day. Is the 900 still working at noon?

Congrats Dan! I also took gabapentin when I quit subs after almost 3 years. It was a life saver! I didn't like it enough for it to become another habit, but it was enough to take the edge off of the WDs and it was the only thing that helped me relax and even kept my appetite up. I probably would've relapsed without it. I have heard it can be addictive as well so if caution people to be careful with it, but for opiate WDs it's indispensable!

ON NOVEMBER 20th. I posted about getting off subs. I am now 260 days clean and feeling wonderful. I cant tell how how amazing it is on this side of the fence. Life has changed so much and all for the better. I ask you guys to go get off subs as fadt as you can. I know the high is great and relaxing. It doesnt come close to being clean and unchained. Gabapentin is a great way to taper off subs. I took really low does because I wanted to be clean.YOU CAN TOO. Yes you go through a little rough patch but its because your body is adjusting to normal life. Trust me it will be okay.

Too many variables need to be accounted for so there can be no exact answer. How fast a substance is eliminated by your body depends on how much you've taken, how often as well as uncontrollable factors like age, metabolism, overall health and the type/sensitivity of the drug test being given. In my opinion, it's not worth the risk. I've heard horror stories of people being dropped point blank from Sub Drs for positive urine tests and going through bad WDs with no options. Gaba is not worth that agony. Trust me. Sub WDs are nasty and last FOREVER if not tapered properly. That's just my opinion, but if your going to take them I'd leave a 3-5 day window minimum to be safe. Most drugs still show after 72 hours.

I've been on methadone and started taking Neurontin I started blacking out doing things I was totally unaware of that I was doing I even tried to break into my neighbors apartment

You are wrong my friend, I just started seeing a new doctor for back pain. I did have some neurotin left from previous doctor, I wasn't taking them daily, yet the next time I had a follow up appt. with my new doc, I was questioned about this. They did do a urine test on me that day, but I'm wondering if they sent it to a lab that could 'screen' out all drugs like muscle relaxers and pain pills.

I would never take this med that soon before a urine test, and if anyone knows how long it stays in your system I'm interested.

Yes it will so up in your urine if you continue taking the gabapentin, I know because I'm pregnant and was prescribed it before I got pregnant, so I went ahead and finished my script and my baby doctor told me it was in my urine and that I had to stop taking it.

Hey there so i have been on subs for 152 days i stopped taking the subs 3 weeks ago using the gabapentin to help ease me off. You should go to your regular doctor tell them you need the gabapentin to help get off the subs( exactly what i did) get some good sleep medicine also. As i sit here and type to you i am so happy i did. Subs are addicting and very bad. I feel amazing i am so clear and happy i wake up refreshed and happy. It is awesome to be able to wake up clean and clear. you will notice things everyday you hated on drugs and now its amazing.

I would talk to your sub Dr about it and in the meantime definitely stop taking it. I've heard it will show after 48 hours. You don't want to get kicked out of the sub program. Trust me its not worth it. Just be honest and proactive in your recovery. If you explain to him what's going on, he may be ok with you taking it but don't chance it otherwise.

I took several neurontin in a months time. I went to my suboxine Dr. And tested positive, I quit taking then 2 days before my appointment. How long does it really stay in your system?? I take them for my back and hip and my family Dr. Will not prescribe them to me. They are the only thing that helps me I've tried all the drugs my Dr. Has prescribed my but they do not work. So please someone let me know how long they stay in your system I don't want another positive result on my urine screen. Thanks for your help.

Not true. It was found in my urine and my dr only uses the dipstick drug test. He actually thought I had taken ecstasy and I told him I had taken neurontin, he then explained that gabapentin is in ecstasy so be sure to explain if it does show and they dont know.
