How Cetapin Xr 500 Is Different From Other Diabetic Drug

Amaryl 1 mg 1/2 before breakfast, janumet 50/500 -1, after breakfast, cetapin xr 500 after dinner. I am taking for my type 2 diabetes. Why so many drugs and what is the activity of each tab, side effects of all tab and why can't it be a single tablet? Right now my hba1c is 6.6 .can I reduce tablets?

Diabetes is a actually a double faced disease. One face is that the pancreas do not supply enough insulin or defective insulin. Amaryl works on the pancreas to extract more insulin. The other face of diabetes is that the tissues of the body become insensitive to the available insulin. Hence, whatever little insulin is available, the body is unable to use and therefore glucose from food cannot be used by the body and keeps circulating, raising blood sugar. Metformin under various trade names like CETAPIN etc, increases the sensitivity of the tissues to receive the insulin. Hence in the treatment of diabetes, both medicines are normally required.
