If you are throwing up on the suboxone , you're taking too much. Subutex isn't as strong as suboxone. So. Lower your dose. You will be fine. A lot of people who were never really in withdrawl, their parents take them to the dr, or concerned friends, that know nothing about being an opiate addict, ( it actually takes a very long time to truly get addicted to where you get really sick when you stop - and I'm not talking nose runs) want to help and rush and get them on subs. When they don't need it. You could probably be fine in a couple days. Minus low energy and runny nose. Big deal. Be grateful that you don't need a drug like subs. But it seems like these days, every body wants to be a heroin or oxi addict. It's like the cool thing to do.

Weird, I came across this post 2 years later and my own post was there and as I was reading I thought... That sounds about right! Lol and realized it was my own damn post...;)
I'm Jen btw... And I'm still on Sub, it's been 8 years now.... I haven't been on this particular thread since the last time I posted. Anyway, I was saying back then that my doctor had a phone call suggesting Methadone rather than Suboxone by the insurance company... I realize the reason behind that is Methadone is cheaper... The insurance companies will cover the opiates themselves. Lol the reason why you're on Suboxone in the first place. They have no problem covering that forever! I don't mind paying for Sub if I absolutely have to, of course who would be thrilled about paying for it forever... But if it meant being clean off the rest I'd be fine with that. When I said why can't it be a life long drug I meant that in general... It's been given to me for years but it's not a maintenance drug....
I'm with the same doctor I was with 2 years ago. I also went on Subutex for a year and a half and here I am again. I did end up getting pregnant which I NEVER thought would happen again. (My first child I had at 18 and I wasn't addicted to anything then and everything was great...) this time I was devastated because I was on Sub and I was terrified to take anything pregnant... However, I was already 2 and a half mos along and the doctors assured me it would be ok and that it was the right thing to do. I could lose or cause harm to the baby and I didn't want that either. I'm so happy to say I had a beautiful baby boy. I was prescribed 2 8mg Subutex a day and not one time did I take more than ONE. In fact, the last 3 months I took less than one. 3 quarters and then the very last month 3 quarters to a half. Due to being a trusted long term patient (never failed a drug screen, never "lost" or misplaced my meds, nothing at all in 8 years) I was able to stay on Subutex for almost 7 months after having the baby so I was able to breastfeed. My baby will be 8 months old in a week and I've been back on Suboxone for 2 weeks now. I noticed almost immediately into taking Subutex that the headaches I was having were GONE. I also suffer terribly with tinnitus which started about 3 months into taking Suboxone 8 years ago. I thought I had water in my ear at first (now I can clearly tell that's not the case at all but I didn't know what it was) I was seen by regular physician, referred to ear, nose, and throat doctor, and had an MRI to rule out anything serious and was diagnosed with tinnitus... I know this is caused by Naloxone now because it went away on Subutex substantially, along with the headaches. Sure enough, I'm back on Sub for two weeks and it's back to headaches and the tinnitus is terrible. It always was, I just didn't know it was from Sub before. I explained this to my current doctor... She doesn't prescribe Subutex at ALL. ( I was transferred to another doctor for my pregnancy and he's full.) She did say if I could find another doctor she's supportive but that's all I can get. :( you'd think that with my track record being an excellent Suboxone patient example in my opinion it wouldn't be too tough to find an understanding doctor but it's damn hard to find one that'll do it. I've had no luck so far and it's depressing me knowing it could be as easy as switching the meds and I'd be pain free. I don't know what to do about it. Knowing Naloxone has done this to me for years makes me sad; the drug that has helped me so much has been dragging me down as well. I'd like to be clean from it all, I think every addict would love to go back to the way it was before opiates... It's going to take me awhile to get off either way and I'd like to do it without the pain and misery from Naloxone.

How would you go about finding a private or family doctor that would would be licensed?

Yes you can! I was on community corrections, an officer tried to stop me from taking my methadone that was prescribed. I went under Disability Act rights and in there you will find you will have to look for it but you will find no parole or probation officer can make anyone come off of methadone because it is a medical assistant rehab. I've done my research, got my research printed off, and went back in front of the judge. my p.o wanted me to go to rehab to get off at the methadone, and because methadone is a medical assisted rehab, they can not I repeat can not make you come off of it! Do some research research and look under disability acts rights for people on methadone that are on probation or parole. I went through this and she thought she could make me stop, I showed her real quick its against the law. hope this helps you out

How does the Subutex cancel out any euphoric effect without having any Naloxone in it? I thought the Naloxone in Suboxone is what cancelled out the euphoria in opiates due to it being an opiate blocker? Maybe I'm wrong though. Isn't Buprenorphine just a partial?

Subutex will make you incredibly incredibly ill if taken along with any opiate - agree yes the naltrexone is a major blocker however - there are also different uses for Bup - I was prescribed originally for post chemo/premature menopausal depression hell and it was the only thing that helped after trying a number of anti- depressants so I guess everyone is different - I did manage however to take my Subutex too soon after taking the Dilaudid and I became horrifically ill in the worst withdrawel ever so you know - it happens - just sayin' - certainly with respect of course.

I dont know what country your in but here in Australia I was paying $3 per dose, whether it be 2mgs or 32,for Suboxone,Then I changed chemists and pick up once per fortnight @ $20 a weeks supply,Thats $40 per Fortnight.I have told the clinic over and over that Ill never use again, and they believe me,thats why I can pick up 2 weeks supply @ a time,But I want to go back onto Subutex as with Suboxone I am now taking 2 drugs opposed to just Subutex,As I want to be FREE of this taking medication once and for all,

The naloxone is there to deter you from trying to take something else to feel high while on the subs...Buprenophine itself is what blocks the receptors in your brain...

Hi everyone, okay so I have about a few years of opiate use. I went to the doc last week and got put on subs 3 a day but I really don't need that I don't think, but anyway I woke up and I have parenting classes. I recently had a baby but dhr took her so I want to be clean more than ever. I just want my family back but about 15 min after taken the sub I went into severe withdraw so soon after I dosed just to feel normal. withdraw scares the hell out of me. now I'm laying in bed feeling terrible. my last opiate use was last night around 10 pm. it's now 4 pm. When can I take a sub? Also they make me feel sick like to my stomach. I can't eat so I wanna try subutex and the strips taste terrible. Would my doc switch me? I hate taking opiates. It does nothing for me. Please someone help.

Hello. i am allergic to sulfa as well, and i too have lupus. My doctor had me on soboxone, then switched me to subutex, and when I was on soboxone it was hell! I had terrible side affects and it kicked my lupus into full gear hell mode. The subutex didnt, well the docotr decided to quit giving me subutex again, refuses to put me on anything but soboxone, so I refused to take it and now no doctor will listen to me they all say NO SUBUTEX, and I really dont want to ruin my sobriety and ruin my life again and go back to doing drugs, but I dont think I can do this CLEAN LIFE, and with lupus its hard enough to get through each day and have energy and be free of pain. The subutex helped me so much. I was off drugs for over a year. I live in Indiana. Is there any help that you know of or anything I can do ar any place to go that will listen to me? Even the pharmacist states that the side effects I was having arent good, and that I shouldnt feel that way on soboxone, and thats its probably the sulfa in it or possibly just that my body cant handle the naxalone.

Baker,

I'm certain others could benefit from what you have extra. Uncertain how you would manage that though?? What is your ACTUAL daily dose?

Anyone else on here live in the Knoxville, Tn area? Any help and support I can find will benefit me (and you) more. Other folks who struggle with similar battles as myself are able to better understand the difficulties we all face. I don't have much of a support group yet. My wife is my greatest help. However, she has never struggled with opioid dependance or any other drug addiction. I'm really blessed with a good Godly wife and a wonderful Church family.

I've been prescribed Suboxone for nearly 2 weeks now. Still yet after 8-10 hours it wears off and I'm stuck suffering withdrawals from the evening throughout the night, until my next daily dose (16 mg ). I don't sleep well at all. Every couple of nights the medicines I take at bedtime help me sleep. I know Valium would help knock me out, but my dr will NOT prescribe any Benzodiazapines. I do wonder if my withdrawal symptoms are due to the Naloxone in the Suboxone films??

Does anyone know of a Suboxone dr in or near my area (Knoxville, Tn) that will prescribe the medicine I need to help me sleep at night? Suboxone does also help alleviate my pain in my Lumbar spine (lower back, one or bother legs/feet, butt) and it doesn't relieve the pain in my Cervical spine (neck, right shoulder, elbow, and hand). Any suggestions on medication that I can take with (a few hours after dose) Suboxone to ease my pain?

It doesn't seem like very many people respond. I've found this site to be very helpful in answering my questions and encouraging me to press on towards recovery. I recently found out that my insurance won't even cover Methadone for opioid dependence even if I found a clinic I could afford. They will pay for Methadone if I'm prescribed it for pain. How expensive is it?? Thanks to everyone that is reading this. All responses are welcomed and encouraged.

Suboxone Always gives me migraines, so my dr switched me to subutex and it works perfectly! No headaches, No nausea... I still Stay constipated but as long as I take senecot every day, that helps me go, not every day, but about every 3 days... I am going to see a Gastrointerologist and maybe they will be able to prescibe a medication that I have seen advertised for patients that take opiod or opiod like drugs for chronic constipation...

Hello Daniel I'm in the Knoxville area and I would like to have someone to talk to about what we're going through. If you are interested in another person in your support group, then please feel free to respond back to this. Thank you. I guess I'll go ahead and share my story with everyone as well. I have been on Subutex for over a year up until recently when this "new" law changed that stated I could not be put on Subutex unless I got a physician to say I was allergic to the naloxone in Suboxone and went into anaphylect shock. Well when my doctor said this new law made him had to switch me to suboxone I just could not afford $13 a piece at my pharmacy versus $5 for the subutex. So I ended up not being able to pay for it and now I've not been going to my doctor for financial reasons for about a month and a half now. This has been the worst month and a half of my life. The withdrawals have been terrible, and I just can not afford to keep myself not sick. I don't know if anyone had heard of this new law that my doctor told me, but it's absolutely ridiculous. I've never failed a drug screen for opiates or been a bad patient. I've always taken my meds correctly but now this happened. If anyone has any information on how to get subutex from a doctor or have heard of this law, please share it with me. Thank you very much. I hope everyone has a blessed day and I look forward to someone's help.

Bupe itself will not allow opiates to attach to your receptors. Naloxone is only active in your body for a very short period. I have been on TeX for 3 years and in the beginning I tried every way I could to feel high on it. I had to wait at least 12 hours to feel anything. If I took say a mg of TeX it would be a shorter period. People that say they take TeX for that reason are full of s***. If you research it you will see what I am saying is stone cold fact not opinion. I used to watch people take sub or TeX and still be a dumpster for everything else and just smile. That's just a dumb move. Like wiping your ass with 100 dollar bills.

The law change the end of July in the state of Tn. I have heard of people driving to NC just to be able to stay on what works. I'm trying to figure it all out since I'm having the same problems you are.

I absolutely disagree with the Methadone program!!!!! They could care less about there patients. Me and my husband reverted to the methadone clinic trying to kick our huge addiction to Roxy's, Oxy's, opana. Well when you start they give you like 35 mg to start you out and then tell you that you only have 30 days to take yourself up to 100mg after that you have to be reseen by the doctor. If you know anything about how an addict's mind work you better believe every new patient is getting to 100 mg which in all reality it entirely to much for more then half of the patients. They will take you up as high as you want. When your ready to quit they wanna take you down 5 mg a week. My husband got diagnosed with epilepsy. A very bad case of it as he was having grand mail seizure's. When he seen the doctor at our clinic she refused to take him down citing his medical condition. My husband quit cold turkey that day. I was to afraid of the serious withdrawal everyone talks about. It can actually be deadly!!!! My husband started Suboxen around a year after he quit as he was relapsing. He finally talked me into quitting and changing over to Suboxen. I'm so thankful to that man for encouraging me to make the swap. Now I can actually live my life instead of walking around like a zombie. Please if you have never tried the methadone clinic don't!!!!!! I promise suboxen and subutex is way better. The withdrawals are not bad at all. Its easier to get clean and sober using buprenorphine then any other options out there. When you enter a detox facility they even give you subutex to help your withdrawal process. I would never ever recommend methadone!!!!!
