How long should Horizant take to work? So far it's been 2 weeks of taking 600mg in the morning and 600mg in the evening, and no results for nerve damage from shingles. I can't find any info on how long Horizant should take to work. Thank you in advance for any information or feedback on this medication. ## While Horizant does sometimes have some immediate benefits, in many cases it takes about 4 to 5 weeks for it to reach its full level of efficacy in your body. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, mood changes, dry mouth, and weight gain. Ref: Horizant Information This medication seems to be hit, or miss, when it helps people, it seems to work wonderfully, but for others, it does absolutely nothing. I tried it, more than once, and even...

is it safe to take expired Horizant? ## Hi Kitty, According to the LA Times, many medications remain good for up to 20-40 years past the listed expiration date, depending on the substance and how they're stored. Harvard Medical School also has a very similar article stating that many medications are good beyond the 10-15 year mark. Ref: 1) health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/drug-expiration-dates-do-they-mean-anything 2) articles.latimes.com/2012/oct/08/news/la-heb-expired-drugs-still-work-study-20121008 I don't have a complete list of these exact medications, nor do I encourage taking something that's been expired for quite some time, but from what I've read, it does seem to me that the date listed is often based on mere speculation and not evaluated by manufacturers for...

My doc started me on horizant I took it at 5 like she said but it's now eleven and my rls is coming on strong? Can I mix with the requip???? ## Have you consulted your doctor? It may be worse, right now, if you suddenly stopped taking the Requip to switch to the Horizant. If they are combined, they can have additive effects on each other, which could cause more severe central nervous system depression and psychomotor impairment, so your doctor has to take this under careful consideration and adjust the dosages accordingly. In light of that, I wouldn't suggest combining them, without your doctor's approval. ## I have been taking Requip for at least 10 years. It did help at first, but in the last two years my RLS is getting much worse. If I sit too long or lay down too long, m...

Can you take horizant and doxycycline together ## Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between the active ingredient in Horizant (gabapentin) and Doxycycline; deeming them safe to take together. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. I hope this helps to answer your question!

I've tried Horizant for two nights with awful side effects. Had to take 30mg of Oxycodone along with it to get me through the night. Am also being weaned off 5mg of Requip XL at the same time. The doc now wants me to take it at 1pm instead of 5pm and on an empty stomach because it won't absorb as well and may cut down on the side effects. Any thoughts out there? ## Taking a medication on an empty stomach, usually means it has better absorbability and you can experience more side effects. Horizant contains the active ingredient Gabapentin, it is an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain. The normal side effects can include: nausea, irritability, increased appetite and dizziness. Some of the problems you are experiencing could be from starting this n...
