Hi Newly Prescibed Linzess , Taking For 2 Days With No Bm

Just prescribed linzess by my pcp , took it for 2 days with no results . My doctor directed me to take only when needed! Which contradicted the prescribing info! I have had problems for over 20 years , have tried everything and still no luck! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I was diagnosed with Colonic Inertia and I am unable to have a bowel movement on my own. I started with the low dose of Linzess and it did nothing. Then my Gastroenterologist ordered the higher dose and I could not stay off the commode as the diarrhea was terrible. I am now back on the low dose and it seems to be causing severe diarrhea. I would give it more time and see what happens. If I do not take it I become so bloated and have a lot of flatus and nausea. You can also try Phillips MOM at night. I am now going to try and not take the Linzess every day. Maybe twice per week and at night time. I do not want to have the colon surgery done. I have tried everything OTC and the only results I get is with MOM but it does not fully empty my colon.

I am so very sorry about the problems you both have been dealing with, I get constipated if I have to take any type of opiate, and that makes me miserable, I can't imagine what it must be like to have it be a chronic issue.

As to the Linzess working, are you making sure to take it at least half an hour, before eating, or drinking anything else? For some reason, some people weren't told to do so, when it was prescribed, and it has caused it to not work as well as it should.

The FDA lists the typical Linzess side effects as possibly including nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, gas, or bloating.

Hi Jill, I have been on Linzess 145mg for about 2 years. It is a miracle drug to me, I have had constipation all my life. I would tell friends I work at having a bile movement harder than working a job, nothing worked until Linzess. Maybe you need a stronger dosage, I would not give up continue to discuss with your doctor. Since
