Have you had any luck? We were going to the same dr. and have had no luck and no help finding someone. I don't know how to get ahold of anyone, but as I said before, we are both disabled and have numerous problems, back, knee arthrithis etc. Thank you

Christina, I feel bad for you. Many doctors who wrote prescriptions are now being sued by ambulance chasers who make millions from doctors and their insurance companies. People like you have to suffer while they get rich and the rest of the doctors are now afraid to prescribe painkillers in situations like yours because these rich ambulance chasers might prey after them.

Sissy, I am floored by your post and the suffering pain pumps have put you through. Wow, I had no idea the risks associated with them. I really need to read up. If I am faxed with the choice of pump or nothing, and that's not so far down the road, what should I do, besides find another doctor...lol. Seriously, if opioid become impossible to be perscribed, what is our optoon. I understand the pump does deliver controlled pain med, but it scares me. Especially after reading your post! And, what are you doing now for your pain? Thanks for your posting.

Thank you for your post. I have been through a lot with the pumps. The manufacturer (Medtronic) of the pumps also makes the stimulator. I can't make the decision for you as you know. However, you do need to be FULLY informed of the risks of both of them because PM is pushing them both HARD on us CP patients. As I have said in many of my posts, these docs get large commissions on each stimulator or pump that they implant. Go to the FDA site and search...medical device recalls....then Medtronic. They have been the subject of 33 Class 1 recalls (the most severe) and were even completely shut down for a while due to failing quality control inspections/ regulations by the FDA and Dept. Of Justice.

I've had the stimulator (at Duke University) too. I ended up having 8 surgeries trying to keep it. The leads in my spine kept migrating. The last surgery they took it out because it would only stimulate around my rib cage.

I was dropped from PM with no notice or taper after I got BACTERIAL MENINGITIS. My doc was mad because I did NOT want to get another PUMP. Can you blame me? The last one almost KILLED me.

I went cold turkey off of 50 mcg. Fentanyl Patches, 4 (4mg. ) Hydromorphone a day, and 2400 mg. Gabapentin all at once. I went through 3 months of the worst withdrawal you could imagine!

I went from being semi-productive to recliner bound/housebound in ABSOLUTE AGONY!! I am about to have a heart attack or stroke if I can't find some help. My blood pressure is 175/105 every day with a pulse rate in the 130s. Ers in Arkansas will NOT HELP.

I'm lost, struggling to live through each HOUR. Please pray for us all.

I now am at the Seattle Pain Clinic in Federal Way for help with my pain management issues. Although I still suffer from serious chronic debilitating back pain and now require a full time caregiver, I do feel that the lead doctor at this facility may care in some capacity about his patients, along with not displaying the typical arrogance & thinks "he/she" knows it all attitude... Whilst it really still irrates me that most pain management specialists out there are such jerks because they have never in reality personally experienced living/dealing with on-going severe/intense pain & suffering-That they only rely on the current studies, statistics, surveys, "fads", here say, political agenda, pressure from the community, etc. to base their prescribing of pain medicine on.
It also bothers me quite the bit to be lumped into a category/group/medical study that is subjective & general in its assumptions & catorizations, and that does not take into consideration the fact that there are many people out there who simply do not fit into the most recently published findings/statistics/outcomes/results with regards to from recently published findings with regards to controlled substances associated with pain management.
What is printed should not always the absolute with regards to treating/understanding/dealing with a patient. Even if some statistics, studies or recent findings have indeed shown that there are "categorized" people whom have demonstrated abuse, complications, addiction to and/or other problems associated with prescribed narcotics, THERE ARE SIMPLY MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO SIMPLY DO NOT FIT INTO THE THESE CATEGORIZED STUDIES with regards to dosage, effectiveness and prescription of controlled substances-I AM LIVING PROOF THAT THE CURRENT STATISTICS CONCERNING NARCOTIC DOSING, EFFECTIVENESS, DRUG ADDICTION, PRESCRIBING OF, ETC. ARE NOT VALID FOR ALL; I am tired of being lumped into a group, not being afforded the dignity, respect, consideration and listening to that I so rightly deserve. And I am tired of seeing an ever increasing growth in substance abuse by people in the medical arena.
It does not seem like in reality we need to worry so much any more about the general public at large abusing controlled substances, but that of taking notice of the ever increasing abuse & addiction to controlled substances by professionals within the medical field itself! Maybe this is why in part it is so hard to find a doctor for someone with serious pain/medical afflictions that is in need of narcotics to help them function on a daily basis-The medical professionals that we are supposed to trust and look to for guidance are now the ones that want the drugs only for themselves!

I do know a doctors in Seattle that prescribed vicodin and highly prescribes methadone for anyone that needs and I just need one that xan pres ribe me oxycodone I was in bad car accidebt Nx I no longer want anything to do with vicodin or methadone it do.t bro my pain as much as oxycofine a traxe for a trade...

Are you people serious? Do you guys know how you look? I'm floored that there are people on an open forum, pestering folks about where you can get your next fix. Try exercise, meditation or going for a walk. That would be much better for you health wise then stuffing your bodies with Narcotics. Smdh............
