Help Finding A Pain Management Doctor In Wa State That Prescribes Meds (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI need help with finding a pain management dr. that prescribes pain meds in the bellevue wa area or as close as possibe am willing to drive if necessary. Please it's almost impossible to find. I have been in pain since 2002 please any leeds greatly appreciated.
I have been on Methadone for about 20 years due to a car accident, surgery screw ups and other chronic pain illnesses. It is getting harder and harder for those who are on Methadone because most Dr. offices are doing a comparison for every 10 milligrams of Methadone that you take is equivalent to 30 milligrams of Morphine. So that means the most a Dr. will soon prescribe is 3 10mg tablets a day. If that is ok for you then I have a place you can go. They will also prescribe other meds that you need and they do believe in you as a person. They also know that it is not all in your head and that you have real pain and real issues. It helps if you have medical records and x-rays. Bring them with you. They also do the My Chart online so you can look at everything the Dr. does for you plus all paperwork, tests, notes, e-mail Dr., make appointments, etc. They are compassionate people and they are there to help. They are also willing to prescribe other pain meds due to each individual case. It is in Wenatchee, WA and it is called Confluence Health Family Physicians and their number is 509-665-6087. I hope this helps.
Needing a pain doctor that excepts CHPW in Spokane, Washington really bad. I suffer bad pain a lot. My primary dictor refuses to prescribe any narcotics whatsoever, even if it's in a cough syrup. I have been suffering this pain for quite a few years now.
Thank you
I've been trying to find one in Spokane, Washington too. Wish you alot of luck trying to find one.
Is there anyone around the Pullman or Spokane area that knows of a pain management Doctor, need help. Have MRIs and most things a doc would want. Tired of being miserable.
no I've been having to either go to Canada or fly back to AZ
I've been in WA for a year with all CT, MRIs and all dr records and everything possible needed and extra and still can't get help
That's great but for those needing medication pain centers even the one your going to require you have been prescribed by a pcp at least 3 months..and if u don't have insurance like me $500+ for a consult and they "maybe" will prescribe you 30 days after u drop a UA... in AZ your pcp will prescribe you and send you to pain mgmnt and your in. They give u 2wks and then see you monthly with a UA every time...WA is consult first then they decide if they want to prescribe. I've spent over 6 months of this and don't meet the 75 morphine metabolite from my oxycodone which would basically be 5 10mg a day. I take 1 10mg 4xs daily and Drs here are scared to prescribe so I have no backing except Arizona records..
This Clinic is under investigation and over 8000 patients are displaced COLD TURKEY. DSHS's conduct is deplorable and they claim they offer a 1-800 number for help and it DOES NOT EXIST?! Any attorneys who handle legal action have their work cut out for them!!! WA state Hysteria.
I'm absolutely interested in a possible suit I moved to WA from AZ with proof of my condition and am denied left right and center due to some bad apples it's outrageous
Hi, Heather. My pain mgmt Dr @ Washington Center for Pain Management referred me to Dr. John Hatheway in Spokane. He said he's a very good doctor. Good luck!
Hi, Cindy. I am very sorry that you are in so much pain, and having to deal with this situation! I was hit head on by a drunk driver; my Nissan 280z against a 1/4 ton truck. Totally messed up my entire spine. I found a great doctor!...his name is Dr. Paterno at the Washington Center for Pain Management. There are offices from Everett, Edmonds, Kirkland, Bellevue, Renton, Federal Way, Puyallup and Olympia. I don't know if you found someone to help you, but if you haven't I highly recommend them... Here is their link for you, or anyone else who needs a pain management Dr... [email protected]. Here is their phone number as well; (425) 774-1538. They have always treated me with respect, and compassion as well as listening to me when a medication didn't work, switching medications to find the right one for me. They are strict; you will be randomly selected for a U/A, and don't run out of your medications early - or have a very good reason as to the "why". I am prescribed Oxycontin 3x a day from this clinic - if I weren't, I'd be unable to walk! I see my family Dr for all the other prescriptions ie; muscle relaxers, 800mg ibuprofen, Gabapentin, Elavil (depression) and Valium for severe anxiety. I cannot say enough great things about this group, they're excellent! I hope that all of you who are in true pain will contact them via their information above. Don't give up!! There are doctors who truly care - and I have just moved 3 days ago to Eastern Washington so I'm hoping that I find a fantastic pain doctor over here. Good luck to all of you.
Hi, Jason I was told by my pain mgmt Dr, in Federal Way that Dr. John Hatheway in Spokane is a very good pain doctor. Good luck to you
You mean Dr. Kuharich in Kitsap county? I agree, he is a poor doctor. I had him do a rhizotomy on me and he completely missed the location he should have done because he (and my pain doctor) both failed to do the smallest amount of exploration work on my back to find the correct location to do the procedure. They simply don't care. Dr. Kuharich spent more time checking out his young pretty nurses than helping me with my pain issue. He is a dismal failure. I really don't understand how these people get jobs in medicine.

The reason everyone is having such a hard time finding a doctor who will prescribe is because it is now against the law to prescribe narcotics to chronic pain patients in Wa. state. Google "Wa. state narcotics law" and you will see. You will also come across an article in the Seattle Times saying how the director for the Seattle Pain Center has lost his license for over prescribing so you can forget that one too. I saw someone here writing about how good that place is. So it doesn't matter how good records, MRI's etc. that you have, no narcotic meds for chronic pain.
I am also a chronic pain sufferer and when I asked my doctor if I could have just a few vicodin 5mg. a month for the really bad days... I said not a lot, just 10-15, she said NO, we do not treat chronic pain with narcotics anymore and it is against the law. You will not find any good doctor in this state who will unless it is a pill mill doctor. She said only if you are a cancer patient is the exception. She said it is because people overdosing has become an epidemic even bigger than illicit drug overdoses and this is why. Washington state is the first to have this law... oh great :(
I was just shocked because who would need pain meds more than a chronic pain patient? This is terribly unfair and if I could move to another state I would. There is also a loophole to the law that says that patients getting narcotics before the law can continue to get them.
To Marco - I have been on Suboxone before and found it had great pain relief for me but there is a catch to that too. Not every doctor can prescribe it (they have to take a short course) AND it is NOT prescribed for pain management ever!! It is used for pain management in other countries in Europe but not here (Google Suboxone prescribers). If you are a opiate addict and go to rehab you get put on Suboxone and if you stay on it the rest of your life you are considered a hero. It is so unfair.
You mention that it is a lesser drug than narcotics like oxy, etc. but it only seems that way because it doesn't make you feel high. It is actually a very strong drug and that's why a small amount can make opiate/Methadone withdrawals instantly stop. 8mg. Suboxone is stronger than 30mg. Morphine. What choices do we have left in Wa. state? Not many!! Does anyone know of a pill mill doctor?
I moved here in 2015 and it took about 60 doctors to keep me on my meds but I have a dr it's a 2hr drive but he's worth it and checks on me. Canada is always a option as a visit is $54 American just bring all your records..however they don't have soma
Yes, the federal government consists of a bunch of yeahoos, who have no understanding of the effects that opiates have on creating a better quality's of life, for those that are in Pain and those suffering from a plethora of mental illness and depression. It is time that we have wake up and make these medications more readily available. The number of folks requesting these medications are steadily increasing, while finding doctors to prescribe them is decreasing, due to being scared of losing their licensing. Something has to be done about changing these outdated barbaric laws!
I see Dr. Paterno at Washington Center for Pain Mgmt in either the Federal Way or Renton location. I am prescribed 10mg oxycontin 2x per day. Dr. Paterno is leaving in June and I will begin seeing Dr. Kinder. I have had really positive experiences at WCFPM.
If u are over the limit on your meds u will not find a doc who will take you in WA or OR. U will be required to detox/withdraw for 30 days minimum, then u will be put on the minimum starting dose. The docs have no choice as they r limited by the state. No exceptions. If u want to avoid this hell then check out Idaho, Nevada or AZ. They refused to accept the new guidelines. I now fly to Phoenix, AZ monthly to see my new pain doc. I can get out of bed, see my yard, sit at table, even short shopping trips. Before, I was confined to my bed, crying because almost every minute was torture, praying God would take me away. 14 months of inadequate pain control has damaged my heart. I fell once and fractured 6 vertebra in my neck, and 2 above my spine fusion. I damaged my shoulder replacement and tore my knee up...another surgery. So I'm moving to AZ and these *****s can't torture me ever again. And yes, I did the withdraw and spent 3 weeks in the hospital because my body was shutting down from pain and the stress of withdrawal. Get out of here fast. Go where docs care about quality of life over a nice, thoughtless, worry free day at the office.
I am also in the same situation as OP. You seem to think that you have the ability to help and that is very exciting to hear. If you know of a doctor who doesn't judge their patients I would love to hear from you. {edited for privacy}
I just moved here myself, have you found a good dr that you can suggest?
