Is it ok to take Ticagrelor (Brilinta) 90 mg and OxyContin together? ## According to the NIH I am not seeing any interactions between Ticagrelor and OxyContin (ingredient Oxycodone). It states that you should avoid NSAID pain relievers such as Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Celecoxib, and Diclofenac. I suspect that's due to the blood thinning properties of NSAIDs. Oxycodone, on the other hand, is an opioid pain reliever, not an NSAID. With that said, since you are looking to take a blood thinner such as Ticagrelor with a strong pain reliever, I would double check with the pharmacist just to be safe. I hope this helps!

I am age 56. One year ago I did avr by open heart surgery. I am taking ecosprin 75mg. Today while I was taking a hot shower and bath I started getting a bloody nose. Is this a side effect of ecosprin or is it related to the heart surgery I had in any way? ## This medication can cause blood thinning as a side effect, according to NIH reports, so yes, it could have caused the bloody nose. Other side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach irritation. Are you on any other medications? How long did it take for the bleeding to stop?

Hi. I am writing this message in regards to the bruises that appear on my hand and leg after taking certain heart medicine. My mom is an open heart surgery patient with a pacemaker on it for the past 35 years and currently she is taking ...1) Acitrom 1mg, 2) Torget 5, 3) Star press XL 25, 4) Lanoxin, 5) Cordarone. Could it be the side effect of all these medications or is it a side effect of Acitrom 1mg tablet? We have consulted her heart Doctor and keep saying it is due to medicine but did not give us any preventive measures. Are there any preventive measures for these bruises? My mom is age 60. Your prompt responses will be highly appreciated. ## Yes, many heart and blood pressure medications can cause increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising as side effects, according to NIH rep...

Can putting a bit of sunblock on the back of a person cause that person to start shaking & have anaphylactic shock making them hospitalized in intensive care? ## It could, if they are severely allergic to an ingredient in it. The NIH warns that such an allergic reaction can come on suddenly and could include the symptoms you've mentioned, as well as nausea, dizziness, fainting, swelling, hives and trouble breathing. In some cases, allergies can be so bad that they could result in death. Do you know someone that experienced this?

Time to administer Prexum 4 mg? Heart failures occur more often at night when blood flow slows down. Should I take Prexum 4 mg at night or in the morning? ## What are you taking it for, heart failure or hypertension? DId your doctor provide you with any instructions? If it's for hypertension, then in most cases, they want you to take it during the day, when you are the most active and have the most severe blood pressure fluctuations. However, you should check with your doctor, or pharmacist to be certain you take it at the appropriate time for your condition and situation. ## Should I take a Prexum 4mg now my heart is beating very rapidly? ## i NORMALLY HAVE VERY LOW BLOOD PRESSURE SUDDENLY IT HAS SHOT SKY HIGH AND I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY BREATHING. Hi, I am a 1st year medical student. My mother has a recurrent occurrence of heart attack like symptoms (i.e. a pressure like feeling in her chest, a pain radiating to the neck and the medial side of her arm). It's really so painful that she is pulled to the floor. Once when this occurred the 1st time many years ago, she was taken to the hospital, where they said that there is no problem and she was given a medicine (nebicard) and it gave her relief. And when it occurred again they took an ECG and said there was no problem and this repeated. Afterwards she refused to go to the hospital saying it is of no use and nebicard gives relief, and now it is occurring very frequently and she takes nebicard... Now we used to take her to the hospital but looking at the ECG they say she is ok. I...

Atere 3 months of Multaq, I began to run dangerously high potassium levels, not low! Any other similar experiences? ## It doesn't appear to be a very common occurrence, but a search I did turned up reports from 13 other people that have experienced hyperkalemia while taking Multaq. What did your doctor advise you to do? ## I started multaq Jan 2013, and started having high potassium levels a month later. I'm still on multaq and still have high potassium levels. Hoping to be able to get off the multaq soon. Had a catheter ablation in August 2013. ## Jimmy, I'm in a situation here, I used to take cymgen(symbalta) for a year and half. I stopped taking Zolnox after using it long term. How long will it take for the heart arrhythmia side effect to stop? ## How long ago did you stop taking it? Are you on any other medications? The NIH lists various reasons one may experience an irregular heart beat, including medications, and heart disease. It is an issue that you should always have checked out by your doctor for your own safety. ## Stopped taking Zolnox 2 weeks ago. I dont take any other medication at the moment. I plan to go for a proper checkup, but only when the negative side effects of Zolnox are not going to influence the outcome of tests. Will one month after I stopped taking Zolnox be okay? Thankyou, Sandy

If you take Brilinta twice a day like 90 or 60 mg tablets, keep out of the higher elevations like 6500' and up. Had an episode where I was at 10,000' in a hotel in Colorado and it about killed me. No sleep was possible when every 30-45 secs you would start gasping for air. I had to go to the local medical center and was put on oxygen and was able to sleep. When they checked me out I headed straight toward Denver and the heavier air. The lack of oxygen put me into near panic modes, my brain was signaling distress and confusion was rampant. The previous year I was at the same hotel without any issue and was not on Brilinta. When the hospital checked me in my BP was in the 150s and heart rate was in the upper 80s. It's pretty scary when you deplete the body of oxygen, I felt ha...

My wife has been taking Multaq for 9 months. In January, she was hospitalized with renal failure and treated with IV's. Multaq was suspended upon admission. Her kidney functions returned to normal after four days at which time she was discharged. Multaq was again started. Several days later, she began to have problems again which were confirmed to be the return of renal failure. Here is the FDA Warning and Precautions on Multaq as issued in January of 2014: fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/SafetyInformation/ucm243762.htm Hopefully, this will be of assistance. ## This is a further update on my wife's situation since she has stopped using Multaq. The best thing to do would be to explain the cost issue to your doctor and ask them what else you can try that would be cheaper. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects of these medications as possibly including nausea, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. Are you on any other medications?
