Has Anyone Tried Using Ketamine For Ocd (obsessive Compulsive Disorder)?
UpdatedI stumbled upon an article briefly mentioning its use for such symptoms, and was just curious to know if anyone w/ OCD symptoms actually had success with it?
Here is a brief excerpt: "A single, intravenous dose of ketamine, a non-competitive N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) glutamate receptor antagonist, can lead to rapid anti-obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) effects that persist for at least one week in some OCD patients who have constant intrusive thoughts, according to this small randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial. This is the first randomized, controlled trial to demonstrate that a drug affecting glutamate neurotransmission can reduce OCD symptoms without the use of a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, according to the authors, and is consistent with a glutamatergic hypothesis of OCD."

Hello, Dave! How are you?
It makes sense, since Ketamine is also known to help with depression and bipolar disorder for people who haven't responded to other medications.
Learn more Ketamine details here.
However, due to how frequently it is abused, it's generally reserved as the last choice medication.
Has anyone else actually used it for OCD?
Hi Dave - I just received a prescription for Ketamine for my severe OCD which has become totally debilitating over the past 3 years. After taking a slough of different medications and trying hypnosis and CBT, I am hopeful that this may provide some relief. I have to take the first "test" dose at my doctor's office this week. Stay tuned...
