Harvoni Side Effects (Page 27)

I have been taking Harvoni for 3 months now and am having nerve pain in my legs and lower back pain. Is anyone else taking Harvoni having any of these same side effects as me? Please help if you are able. Thank you

Thank you Enoughalready I will ask my doctor to check these all I can do is ask and hope that she will, she seems not to want to listen to anything I say, its like I have no clue or reason to feel crappy or be swollen like I am.. I have just returned from the emergency room.
I am 12 days past comletion of Harvoni and have provided my laundry list of side effects in previous posts.
Last night I suddenly developed severe abdominal pain and vomiting.The pain was worse than anything I have ever experienced.
The oain was in my left lower abdomen and radiated to right upper abdo but increased to being in agony in my entire abdomen and chest.Worst night no sleep and went to hospital this morning.
Surprise surprise everything NORMAL.
They tested for everything and my liver fuction is normal indicating that the virus remains gone.
I however am far from feeling normal. I was discharged and told i must have a virus.
I have never had a virus where you are in agony.
I am scared and in pain.
I told them about all I have experienced with Harvoni but nobody listened.
This stuff is wrecking my life. Fine one minute in hospital the next.
Has anyone experienced anything like this ? I have heard talk about the Harvoni hangover. Is this what it was like ?
Any comments appreciated. I feel very afraid of what will happen next and very alone in this mess.

Vanessa, I have never heard the term Harvoni hangover. However in my over private support group we have about 40 members and between us we have had every single side effect you mention. I myself have had them 16 months post treatment and still continue. And like you, doctors continue to say I don't know what you have, but it's not from Harvoni.... Didn't have these problems before, came on either during Harvoni or immediately after finishing, so doc, where do YOU think they came from?

I was really sick the first couple weeks post treatment and did go to the ER as well day two. I had terrible gastro stuff going on mainly heartburn and gnawing. They wanted to be sure it wasn't my heart which it was not. I think I felt a bit better the first year out. Then things started to decline again. Nothing went away but it was more tolerable for awhile. Now 19 months post and I am very wrong. And that hangover you talk about for me is just constant head fog.

You are definitely not alone at all . I have been off Harvoni for 1 1/2 years and have not been the same since. It has ruined my life totally. The sad thing is that i almost died twice. The first time i went to the ER for vomiting so much blood i had to be airlifted to the nearest hospital. The second time i went to the ER for slow heart rate and was in the ICU next morning when my heart completely stopped for a minute then i was shocked back to life. I now have a difibulator/pacemaker because of Harvoni . I have severe nerve damage in my neck, legs and feet. It is very painful . I also get dizzy spells on a daily basis. My eye sight was perfect before i started that poison pill and now i see all blurry. I also have permanent insomnia now. Like many others i also tell the doctors about the side effects of Harvoni and they either ignore me or they say not to blame on the Harvoni. Everyday i struggle to keep my balance and soon i am going to have an MRI taken of my brain . I will keep everyone posted on the results. Remember that you are not alone and i pray for you and everyone else who has suffered through this terrible nightmere. I wish i was told the truth from the start .The FDA had just approved a week before i had the appointment with the Hepatologist . I will never forget that i was told " ONLY ONE SIDE EFFECT SLIGHT HEADACHE " The doctor made it out to be some miracle pill just because of no inferion but i just found out that 10% of Harvoni is chemotherapy. What i should have been told was that it is too new and we don't know the side effects yet but i blame myself for not waiting a while but i totally trusted my doctor and boy i will never make that same mistake again. I'm so sorry for all your problems it's horrible. They still don't have any side affects like that posted. My son took it for 6 weeks he has had severe depression an suicidal thoughts every day he just cries an talks about ending in he doesn't care about anything. That's not him he was always so happy an positiveI don't know how to handle it the Dr that gave it to him won't help. God bless you I hope your pain goes away.

I believe from what I saw in a previous post that he has finished treatment. If not, he should stop immediately. Suicide and suicidal ideation are reported side effects. This needs to be reported to the FDA for one, but more importantly, your son needs help. He needs to try to get Harvoni out of his system, by drinking water, and water with baking soda can be helpful. A multivitamin may also help. Is he taking any other medications? Try to find a doctor that deals with mitochondrial toxicity. Or at least get him to a doctor or naturopath who can help address getting his body back to a normal state. They should probably take blood tests to see if his Vit B-12 or D is low. That has been reported after taking Harvoni. His body has basically been poisoned by this medication. Help him to find the help he needs which will mostly likely not come from the doc who prescribed it. Those who prescribe it are all turning their backs on those who are suffering.

I received an email from HepatitisCentral saying FDA is now requiring a boxed warning On ALL HCV drugs, Harvoni, Sovalda, Daklinza and many more can lead to reactivation of HEPATITIS B.. Scary that it's supposed to destroy Hep C but does nothing for HepB?? But at least the FDA is looking at some kind of adverse side effect. I stopped at 5 weeks, but it was too late, I'm not the same person I was before treatment. Stomach issues, eyes blurry, joints ache worse then before, depressed and only way to function is pain meds. I'm hypersensitive to most medicine so 1/2 a 5/325 Norco 2-3xs a day is all can handle. Can't sleep without it. Wonder what the rest of my life is going to be like. Only 55 feel years older... Upset with what Harvoni did to me.

I had the same side effects, I have now finished treatment 2 months ago and its getting better less and less issues everyday, except I now have an autoimmune disorder, that I'm hoping will just go away too, starting chamix today to give up smoking, should be interesting how that will go

Tina, in another group I am in we have a woman that is truly amazing doing research and she has found several articles that says any DAA drug, direct acting antiviral, like HIV drugs and including several HepC drugs like Harvoni can really mess up your mitochondrial DNA in all areas of your body. That is why we are seeing so many different areas affected during and post treatment. I hope you start to feel better now that you are off Harvoni, but I have been off for almost 18 months now and I am still worse off than before I started Harvoni.

I also was treated with Harvoni. DEVELOPED afibulation and bradycardia soon after treatment. Now I also have a pacemaker and have now develoce double vision? AND it goes on and on!!!!

Hi, I have finished harvoni approximately 4 months ago now, I have visual changes, brain fog, and constant fatigue, and heavy uni-polar depression. Before treatment I felt very strong and had none of the symptoms, I was even doing heavy lifting. I am wondering if anyone has any similar symptoms or had and how long until I am back to normal, I am having trouble dealing with all of this.

I finished 17 months ago and still feel like hell. All of your symptoms as well as neuropathic pain in face, feet and hands. Shortage of doctors so I have only a nurse practitioner who refuses to refer me to a specialist or even do blood tests to figure out what is happening. I too was amazingly healthy before the treatment. Now I spend half of my day in bed. I wish I had better news for you. I'm meeting with a naturopath this week to see if she has any suggestions. Frankly, I'm ready to just give up.

I am in my third month of harvoni. My legs are so heavy. My knees have swollen so much, especially my right knee. I'm having trouble walking and can't stand any pressure on my knees and legs. Seems better first thing in the morning but 30 minutes after getting up, I'm in pain and having difficulty walking. If I sit down on a place that has no arms to support me as I get up, I have to ask for help. I literally fall toward the toilet and pray I land in the right spot because my knees are so swollen and painful that I can't do a regular sit down. I am totally confused because I don't know what is happening.

Normally Joyful, I am going through all those issues you mentioned. My right foot ankle calf are so swollen it's unbelievable I also have severe muscle spasms as well as when I try to walk it feels like I'm stepping on nails. That's not including the blurry vision, severe headaches, nerve pain, the kidney pains and it goes in and on. I am so tired its sickening.. Worse, trying to get a doctor to listen or help has been a nightmare... I am post Harvoni 5 months or so and its getting worse.. I hope you find some relief

NotBonnie and Scaredmom, im post harvoni five months and there's not a day goes by that I don't wish I would die it is absolutely unbearable between the headaches, memory loss, swelling of feet and ankles, sinus infections galore, cysts developed in both my maxilary's, SEVERE headaches, so tired all the time, blurry vision, nerve pain, feels like nails when I try to walk and the Depression, well I cry everyday and night and Im a 57 year old man, yet I cry like a baby... I pray it gets better but I am feeling worse each day, the headaches are like I have no blood flow or oxygen and they bring on white flashes, these just started last week, not the headaches, the white stars, flashes which is really scaring me. Being alone, makes the depressio worse if not for these rooms I would be dead already and to be honest I dont find that to be bad, I hate living as a bedridden fool. I was really fairly healty before harvoni, being told I was a perfect patient, I want my old.imperfect.life back .. I hope things improve for you notbonnie and for your son Scaredmom. The depression is so bad for me as . last, I am a Veteran and I cant get any VA doctor to HELP OR LISTEN, I too have an APRN who cares less about me...Best wishes and a speedy recovery if possible, NO ONE deserves this

my husband is in icu bloode clots in his brain, he had a bad stroke cant talk parlized on the left side he was on harvoni for hep.c sooo is this a side effect? I don't know !

Issues with the brain have indeed been reported to the FDA by those who were on Harvoni. So sorry to hear of your husbands horrible situation.
