pain medication ## Hello, Are you referring to Coltrazine or Colchicine perhaps? Based on my research It is a medication used to treat gout, a kind of arthritis that occurs when uric acid builds up in blood and causes joint inflammation. It is not classified as a pain medication, but it is supposed to reduce pain by blocking inflammation caused by uric acid crystals. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Colchicine Details Please post back if this is indeed the medication you are referring to or if you'd like more information.

The drug I'm taking is probenecid 500mg tablet wat....what does " wat" mean ... Drug was given to me and a patient advisory leaflet was given to me and that's when I noticed "wat" at the end of the drug received .....It said :Probenecid 500 mg tablet wat ? ## Hi Robert, Based on my research "WAT" stands for the name of the manufacturer. So it could just be an abbreviation for Watson Pharmaceuticals. The way that it's listed on Costco.com's pharmacy page, depicts it as being the manufacturer's name as well: costco.com/Pharmacy/DrugInfo.aspx?p=1&SearchTerm=a&Drug=PROBENECID I hope this info helps to answer your question!

for gout use ## why is it that I cannon get a prescription filled for coltrazine? ## Well, it inhibits cell growth, slowly killing the body. It could be a liability issue. I'd say call your doctor and have them call it in somewhere for you. ## Just FYI for anyone else who may read this ... the drug is colchicine, not coltrazine. ## From what I've found, at one point there was a brand name for it that was Coltrazine, but yes the active ingredient is Colchicine. It's a toxic natural product that's used to treat gout, but the fact that it is toxic has raised serious safety concerns. The most common adverse effects, if used carefully and at the approved doses, are nausea and stomach irritation. Are there any questions or comments? There are more Colchicine details available...

Why can't I eat grapefruit/drink grapefruit juice when taking this medication? ## In short, the grapefruit juice can affect the absorbtion of the drug into your blood stream such that it may enter the blood stream too quickly and/or reach unhealthy levels in your blood stream. "Drugs that interact with grapefruit and/or grapefruit juice (GJ) undergo cytochrome p450 oxidative metabolism in the intestinal wall or liver. GJ contains various furanocoumarins which have been demonstrated to affect the cytochrome p450(CYP) system (especially at isoenzyme CYP3A4) by binding to the isoenzyme as a substrate and impairing first-pass metabolism, by direct inactivation or inhibition of the enzyme (mechanism-based inhibitors). The net effect on the CYP enzymes from this inhibition seems to be...

white circular tablet with markings on on side "CL 201" and the other side is blank. Its approximately a cm in diameter. ??? ## From what I could gather, most of the "CL XXX" drugs seem to come from Concord Laboratories. You could try contacting them directly. Unfortunately there is no drug info on their website. Right now, the closest match I'm finding is a white, round-shaped pill, imprinted with "CL" on one side and "020" on the other. This pill is identified as Colchicine (0.6mg). Another close but similar match is a white round pill imprinted with "CL" over "022" on one side (separated by a horizontal score line), and blank on the other side. This pill is identified as Carisoprodol (350mg) If anything, I hope this info helps to na...

I am looking for coltrazine or a inexpensive equivalent for a family member with gout. they are one a very limited budget and need assistance getting medicine on a regular basis. ## A couple other prescription brand names you may want to consider looking into are Colchicine and Colcrys. Additionally, there are a number of natural alternatives for treating gout, such as Rosemary Oil, which may be just as effective as some prescription meds, although without the side effects. Other Essential Oils I would highly recommend include: -Lavender -Geranium -Ginger -Fennel -Cypress -Juniper -Roman Chamomile -Eucalyptus -Lemon -Peppermint More details on this can be found by clicking here I would think that many of these Essential Oils would be far cheaper than refilling prescriptions. For potency...

small pale yellow (almost buttercream in color) pill with a fancy V on one side and 2500 on the other. ## Hi Barbara, All of my findings from a number of sources suggest that the actual imprint on this round yellow pill with the fancy V is "V 2577" as opposed to V 2500. Does this seem like a possibility to you? If so, this yellow pill contains 0.6mgs of Colchicine; which is used to treat gout. You view more details on it by following the link below: Please post back if you have any other questions or concerns regarding this pill.

description says light red 93 front 149 back,my tablets are light red have 149 on back but TEVA printed on the front. Is this correct? ## Yes, it's still the same medication. Teva Pharmaceuticals used to use the 93 on all of their prescription tablets, but they have slowly been transitioning the imprints to use the TEVA logo, instead. You've just received the newer tablets and the pharmacy probably still has the old imprint information in their database and is still using that on their labels. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can taking uroqid twice a day result in too much uric acid, and consequently result in gout? ## Have you consulted your doctor?
