Glucophage - Long-term Downside (Top voted first)
UpdatedWhat is the down-side of taking Glucophage (minimum dosage) over a long period please?

Glucophage contains the active ingredient Metformin, which is an oral antidiabetic medication.
There aren't a lot of reports, so far, associated with the long-term use of it, other than that it can cause problems with the absorption of Vitamin B12. However, there are always risks associated with the long-term use of any medication.
Have you discussed it with your doctor?
What you have to take under consideration is the fact that letting your diabetes get out of control carries much greater risks than those associated with using the medication.
Many thanks for this reply.
I'm on the minimum dosage of Glucophage and, quite honestly, considering my valiant dieting efforts, there isn't much difference in my daily blood glucose readings, whether I take the glucophage or not!
