I have been on Pristiq for over a year to combat hot flashes. Getting off of this little pill is about to kill me - why didn't anyone tell me how hard it is to stop taking Pristiq?

Have you consulted your doctor?

Our bodies will get used to any medication we take for a long period of time and a sudden cessation can cause some withdrawal symptoms.

Since this contains the active ingredient Desvenlafaxine, which is an SNRI antidepressant, its effects on brain chemicals can also also cause redound effects, such as anxiety and depression, even if that's not what you were taking it to treat.

It usually requires a slow taper, to discontinue it and prevent the worst of the associated problems.
