Generic Subutex/buprenorphine - Which Manufacturer Do You Prefer? (Page 14) (Top voted first)

Updated

Hello All,

I recently just got changed from suboxone to subutex due to a pretty bad allergic reaction to the naloxone in the suboxone. Basically my question for everyone is which generic do you guys prefer? My pharmacist can order any kind for me so at the moment I just got the Roxanne ones 8mg - they are white round tablets. This is my first day using and am already noticing my migraines are starting to subside, not fully, but starting to. So yeah if anyone has any suggestions please let me know all the ups and downs that you guys have been experiencing, thanks!

Good luck to one and all!

D

When RP BQ Subutex is compared to the other brands of Subutex like 54 411, is there any real difference?

This is 100% correct regarding the naloxone. I have an allergy to it as well. So I receive subutex. But my doctor thinks that suboxone is a big lie pushed by big pharma companies to charge more for the medications. He has told me, as did my obgyn that delivered my last child, that the naloxone is useless. All it does is “water down” the buprenorphine. Both also told me that putting something like naloxone into your body everyday is bad for it and can be dangerous long term. Especially if you need an emergency surgery and no one is aware your are taking suboxone or if you do need a general pain killer for legitimate reasons. I was a heavy user for 16 years And it’s all pay much documented. I broke the tip of my elbow off, both bones in my lower arm wash broke and my tricep ripped and folded itself up my arm. As always when I got the er they were rude and clearly didn’t believe me because I had done it the night before and I was pretty calm. But I told them right away I was in recovery and have been clean for (at that time) 6 years. Once I said that, they started to be nice and were all about helping me. The fact I didn’t want pain killers completely changed everything. And they started to really take things seriously. Like as if it wouldn’t have been serious had I been active or wanted something for the pain. I went 10 days only taking Tylenol and then I had to have surgery. I was so lucky I was on subutex because at first the doctor wasn’t going to give me pain medication during the surgery. Only because they thought I would go into withdrawal. I should mention the hospital sucks and they had one anesthesiologist who is the one that didn’t understand there’s a difference. Nor could he get an iv in me. It took 4-5 hours before they did and I hadn’t used IV in 6 years! I literally finally got my Iv When I should have been getting out of surgery. The surgeon wanted me to take pain meds for the first 24 hours and have new the option to stay over night to receive them and I at the time didn’t want to look like I was drug seeking so I elected to stay. CRAZY right? I just had a major surgery and bolts drilled into my bones and I feel like they think I’m drug seeking.... Well I get upstairs and sure enough the nurses did think just that. They refused to give me anything for the pain. I had the doctor discharge me and went home in Agony. But I would rather be in my own bed. Thankfully the doctor the next day said he thought I would be okay to have RX of Vicodin’s and called in either 10 or 20. For the first time in my whole life I took them as prescribed and only when I was in real pain and for the first time in my whole life they worked and took only the pain Away. The reason I say this is because the doctors originally were so lost and didn’t know what to do for my surgery and pain other than ask me to stop taking my meds! I was able to describe the difference luckily. But, if I hadn’t handled things the way I did, if I didn’t have a younger doctor willing to listen and a voice to advocate for myself I would have been screwed and that’s scary. Or what if it was suboxone and I took my meds and then they gave me morphine, or vice versa. It could have ended badly.

People need to try and talk more about naloxone being Unnecessary to someone with solid, long term recovery.

My husband was complaining of chest pains so at first, we took him to Urgent Care who then transported him via ambulance to the ER. The nurses and doctors of course noticed his iv scarring and began questioning me believing my husband was in withdrawal which he definitely was not! After seven attempts at taking blood and finally hitting the vein at his wrist which is extremely painful due to his carpal tunnel, we we're then told that it wasn't the correct gauge needle. I had given him a peach xanax because I'm ashamed to say that I thought he was having a panic attack due to our constant arguing at that time. Before the xanax, he was out of it. He could barely answer their questions and I gave him the z hoping he would stay even with the horrible treatment but once the doctor said that the IV was going to have to be redone, he was feeling better and told the staff to discharge him which we didn't get any reluctance in doing so. Needless to say, by the time we were pulling in our driveway, that a-hole doctor was on the phone with my mom begging us to bring him back in asap that he was in fact having a heart attack. He was more hurt than anything because he has struggled with addiction because of chronic pain and is now taking subutex which luckily helps him with pain and curbs his withdrawal. This stigma regarding addicts and buprenorphine is killing people. To say the least, medical care is definitely substandard.

How did you start taking your subutex? I start tomorrow and have 8mg. Did you have to wait 24 hours or until you were really sick?

I feel like a fool cause I've been taking orange activist and they suck well now I'll have a choice maybe even have a couple days of fun and switch when I want to go mild

Re: Ny has the best (# 281) Expand Referenced Message

The best way to take Subutex is at about 9pm at night when you wind down to watch a show and sleep. The feeling will last until the next night. I have used Roxanne (Hikma) , Teva, Mylan, and even name brand Subutex. They are all great. You never need more than 1 or 2mg per day. With Subutex there is a saying “less is more” and it’s very true. There is a ceiling effect on this drug and over medicating is not better with this type of drug.

I am in total disbelief right now!! Since Akorn's Buprenorphine recall they are no longer making the Hi-Tech and no pharmacy in my area has any left at all!! Those were the only ones I can take as I have had a lot of trouble with other generics from other manufacturers!! Is another company going to take over making them? Does anyone know!? I have no idea what to do right now!

I ask my pharmacist and he orders whatever I want. This month I had my doctor give me 2 15 day scripts of 120 tablets instead of a 30 day script of $240.So I could try the different brands and wouldn't be stuck with a whole months worth if they sucked. I go to kmart pharmacy in west Lebanon NH.

I thought so too about the Mylan bring superior for the first 2 days but then I found they were way inconsistent. One dose was way better then the next was like taking a sugar pill. I went and got my refill a week later and got the Roxanne brand and now take my dose half and half to if I get a bunk dose at least im still getting somethingm

Roxane Labs the maker of the generic Subutex (buprenorphine ONLY that DOES NOT contain Naloxone) have been bought out by HiTek (not "high tech") but its HiTek Manufacturers now. There is no more Roxane 54411 tablets anymore. This is why everyone is now saying they can't 'find them' or their pharmacy is now dispensing this, that or the other generic brands. Just thought I'd clear this up because Roxane is gone.

In UT my self as well! Mylan, rhodes, and himka/westward now are three companies that make the large white ones. I know a great pharmacy network out in our UT area. Try bountiful drug if that far north or jolleys if u can get slc message in review to u as well. My pharma can get any of the sub generics I get rhodes. Best imo roxanne was but they gone now and changed the 54 411

My reaction was I got blue and red spots on my genitals and my rectum when I used the bathroom with bleach. I was coughing up blood, I was bleeding from my eyes and my nose and my ears. I almost died. I was in a coma for 2 months due to taking Suboxone. It is the worst drug. It is nothing but a masking agent, it's substituting One Drug for another, so for everyone get off of all the dope or you would be dependent on it for the rest of your life.
