Generic Subutex/buprenorphine. Ranking From Best To Worst. (Page 8)
(Newest replies first)
Updated
This is for people who actually take Subutex for the intended purpose for which it is used. So if you actually take the medication sublingually, this thread will help you. I have been taking buprenorphine for three and a half years now. This is what I have found: (8mg)
Best: Actavis 153/half moon (orange)
Middle: Roxanne 54/411 (white)
Worst: Hi-Tech 8/arrow
Again, this is for people who take medication as prescribed. You can actually break the medication in half and put it and the front of your lip like dip & chewing tobacco. It will take longer for it to dissolve like this but you will get much much more of the bupe.

Yes the ones from Sun Pharmaceuticals I've never seen anywhere else but Publix they did burn my tongue at first but after getting them for a few months it goes away. They do their job though I think the worst ones are the orange activist ones those are the worst. And most places only have the orange ones now now. I have told the pharmacy not to give me those because I had a bad reaction so after filling a few times after I went home the next day I looked at my prescription and it was the orange one so I called them and they said there's nothing they can do that's what they're getting for now on so now I'm screwed and stuck with these. I'm going to go into my doctor to see if there's anything they can do. But I don't think so. I was wondering if something like that happened are you just screwed or what a doctor actually help you? Try to get different ones or something. Milan pharmaceutical brand that has an m on one side the 924 on the other is the other kind that works well but I haven't seen those anywhere anymore.
ok so it is 2018 now and there is a new generic from Purdue dispenses by Rhodes the pill is imprinted R B b 8. my question is what do people think about and compare to the teva generic. i have not seen much feedback on teva especially compared to the Rhodes. can anyone help with this feedback. as of now Rhodes is my preferred and best in my opinion but some feedback on teva generic would be great
Re: Charlene (# 72)
that is so wonderful to hear! it took my from October 2017 when they came out til February 2018 to get mine solid and yes it took a lot of leg work with those jerks as you say but love the feedback and so happy for you. people don't understand just how badly an insufficient or type of generic can mess with you so bad. so happy you found the best and most preferred generic. best wishes keep feedback coming. God bless
Re: Goozer (# 69)
I don't remember if I replied back but the Rhodes are fantastic. It took alot of phone calls and going in and out of Pharmacy's. But my mom n pop pharmacy got them in...I was so tired of all the generics out there not living up to the original brand name subutex..yes, I usually get the hikma 54 411 but from now on its Rhodes..
Re: BigDaddy8484 (# 5)
Ditto Bigdaddy. This medicine saved my life and family and even got a promotion.
Re: Charlene (# 66)
Hello Charlene and I love Sarasota. I live in Atlanta now which is my home, but I lived in Destin for 14 yrs. Ok yes I've been on Subutex since 2005. Started Suboxone but couldn't tolerate the naloxone. I was on 32 mgs for 6yrs, then dropped to 24. I was told that was the dose my insurance would cover. My dilemma started when the Roxane brand was sold to Westward which is now Hikma so? Well I did A LOT OF RESEARCH ON GENERICS IN GENERAL. Example: clonazepam 1mg - I take 3 a day. They became garbage. Made in India and China etc. I talked to my Dr and we did the prior authorization and I am now on Klonopin brand name. I'm ready to do the same with Subutex. Although these are made in the USA (Ohio & N. Carolina.) I never felt high, that's not my intention. They did fill my opiate receptors and for the first time I had no cravings. Also I just had a little up feeling if you know what I mean and you probably do. Anyway they've become like a flatline. But here's the deal with this month. Maybe I got a good batch, which they ALL SHOULD BE. Anyway I did feel like the old Roxane for the most part. If I get anymore that are not effective the protocol is contact Human so? Then file a complaint with the FDA. I am very proactive on this because I was told I would have to take these the rest of my life and we are the consumer making these companies rich. Good luck!
Re: Charlene (# 65)
how is himka compared to Rhodes or westward? the Rhodes is best imo
Re: Christina (# 61)
Thank you for sharing your experience with it I have both artificial hips and several vertical fractures in my spine from an accident on ride on equipment. I'm also unfortunately looking ahead to a knee replacement. This patch sound like a miracle to me, the sublingual strips have changed my life, completely. It doesn't give me any high or feeling of euphoria to chase. I would say I'm physically dependent on it for necessity, meaning I would probably have some sort of withdraw if I stopped taking it suddenly, but most all medications that you take on a regular basis for an extended period of time will cause this. It gave me my life back, and actually improved it substantially. I've got my regular check up with my primary care physician coming up soon and I'm planning on bringing this product up to him. Again I can thank you guys enough for you input.
Re: Charlene (# 64)
I'm sorry I can't find that post. I honestly don't recall. I'm sorry.
Has anyone been on buprenorphine 8mg x 3 daily as long as I have since 2007? Obviously I started out taking the brand name which was a great product. Since a good year ago I'm having trouble with it working...I asked my dr, is it possible its stopped for me because of all the years of usage? NO IS THE ANSWER...then I'm thinking ok then what's going to? So my dose was increased to 3 and a half as of now...if still no results I'm back to 4 8mgs a day again. It's not that they are not working at all, I'm not in w/ds, just not right...I switched manufacturers and still not much luck..so now I'm desperate to find the new released Rhodes..I'm not having any luck finding it at the moment I have actually called like 25 pharmacies in my area of southwest Florida..I was told if I can find a prime pharmacy I'd have maybe luck, but the Sarasota prime said NO. Can anyone give me some names of pharmacies please?
Re: Laura (# 44)
I'm not sure if everyone knows this but it may have been Roxanne at one time wayy back when ..but it now Roxanne is out. And westward-now hikma..there is absolutely NO ROXANNE, AT ALL IT IS NOW HIKMA 54 411 SAME IMPRINT AND A CHANGE IN INACTIVE INGREDIENTS

I don't get what your saying here..the reason I ask is I've taken buprenorphine (subuex) and for some reason been having trouble with it working..I nothing first your talking about cotton mouth. Then wet clean mouth. Brushing, teeth, adderall?? What's that all about? Are you trying to say adderall may interfere with buprenorphine and the mouth having something to do with it. Please explain again and in short detail..I'm all over with this huge speach and I still don't get what your trying to say. Thx

The Butrans patch is INCREDIBLE! I broke my hips and have some nerve damage in my back from back in my military days and have been on the Butrans patch for several years. I am also a recovering addict and have used the Butrans patch with absolutely no problem. It has done amazing things for my pain without making me feel buzzed or faded. I am totally alert and almost entirely pain free due to this patch. I have the 20MCG (Microgram) which is the highest MCG you can get. I also take Buprenorphine sublingually to help with the bad days. Most doctors will not prescribe both but my doc knows me well and we have found what really works for me. When you get a prescription, you are given a package with 4 patches, each of which will last you seven days. Do be careful of the adhesive though, as it can cause a pretty awful skin reaction even if you're used to it. In the past several years, I have only had a bad reaction twice and it caused the skin where my patch was to be very itchy and red. I just took the patch off and placed it elsewhere and it was fine. Totally recommend these, any questions let me know.
Re: James (# 59)
You are so very welcome! I do think if buprenorphine works for a person’s pain, then it’s a much better bet than taking any number of the opiates as they are full agonists while Suboxone & Subutex are partial so the tendency for physical dependency as well as feeling the symptoms of euphoria (the high) that so many ppl begin to crave is not nearly as evident or effective compared to full agonists. I think Butrans could be a good alternative for you & I hope you’re able to get a resolution. If you need anything else or help finding more info, please lmk as I will do what I can to support you through this trying time. God bless!
Re: Laura (# 57)
Thank you, I'm looking up the butrans patch now to check it out , sounds like something I'd like to try. My primary care physician recommended me to enter the Suboxone program, due to my issue with the pain killers. I've battled this for years and was loosing the fight. I had an enormous tolerance to opiates, esp oxycodone. I would regularly run out of meds and that led to another whole different situation. At first I was sceptical about it helping with the pain , as alot of people claim it does nothing. It does, actually it's better, I can function and keep control of my usage, which is a Good send. Technically I being prescribed it for opiate dependency, but I can leave the program at any time and still receive it for my pain management, but remain in the program because it helps I enjoy it and it is very beneficial to me and my family. Brutal truth is I will be permanently dependent on some kind of pain management for the rest of my life. My first real victory was realizing and accepting that it's impossible to feel great and be totally pain free everyday. Again thank you so much for the information and talking with me I look forward to checking the butrans patch out and possibly trying it. I believe if others with this same issue with chronic pain would give bupenorphine a chance they would get better results and have a better quality of life . Thanks again and God bless
Re: Pattyh (# 52)
Next time that you feel discriminated against, ask to speak to the head Pharmacist. If he/she is unwilling to listen to you & take your complaint seriously, go to the front of the store & ask to speak to the manager. If they choose not to handle the situation appropriately, ask for a complaint form. They have them & they cannot deny you of one. I was a pharmacy tech for years. I know how it works, as well as the stereotypical attitudes & ignorance that comes from employees who are there to do a service for customers, not to judge..PERIOD!! And if you want to make them nervous, calmly mention (indirectly, but loud enough for them to hear) that you have or are planning on making contact with your local/nearby newspapers & new stations to tell them about the horrible ordeals you have to go through just to get your medications filled. Trust me, they will freak out!! Even if you’re just blowing smoke, watch the change that occurs when the head pharmacist & store manager fear that you will go to the press. I’ve seen it happen & it’s hilarious to see how quickly the judgemental ppl on positions of authority turn to complete cowards when faced with being exposed for who they really are! Hope things get better for you & remember, you now have the upper hand with that info so hold onto it &
If necessary, do what you have to do.
Re: James (# 56)
Hey James! So Suboxone strips & sublingual pills are the same. There is no difference in them whatsoever other than what form they come in. I have been on both in the past & no difference, I promise. I tried to look up a little bit of info for you on Butrans. Mind you, you can find a ton of info on the internet. It seems to be solely prescribed for people with mild to major chronic pain that tends to be around-the-clock. What I found interesting is that a dr doesn’t have to have a certain qualification &/or waiver to prescribe it as the FDA has not classed it as a drug for treating opioid dependence. As long as a dr can prescribe class 3 controlled substances, any healthcare provider can write a written script or even call it into a pharmacy for a patient. There are 4 doses & each patch is worn for a period of 7 days. Usually, when trying to find the correct dosage for the patient, adjustments will be made based on if the patient is having break-through pain or what not. The patch contains regular Buprenorphine like Suboxone & Subutex. It’s just specifically prescribed for pain management & again, has not been approved to treat opioid abuse. Also read that there are 2 unique savings plans offered for the medication, one being some sort of trial period & I think the other a discount card for Butrans specifically. I think it could be worth looking into for you. Given, I don’t have all the answers as I am relaying a lot of info I read on the internet. But maybe this would be something important to discuss with your dr & who knows, it could be the right medication for you in the long run!?? if you need any more help, please don’t hesitate to ask as I will do whatever I can.
Re: Laura (# 54)
I've heard of butranz but never used it, I know the difference between Subutex and Suboxone, I was referring to the Suboxone sublingual pills . Was just wondering if one was better than the other , I will check into the butrans patch thank you for your help and information . I'm unable to use regular opiates for pain relief I've battled addiction for about the last 25 years which is a real bummer for some reason in my area they only give the strips except for the Subutex not sure if they make those in strips, they only give those to pregnant and nursing women. Again I thank you for your help and information, I'll be checking into those patches , how long do they remain active, how long do you wear them.
