Generic Subutex/buprenorphine. Ranking From Best To Worst. (Page 6) (Top voted first)

Updated

This is for people who actually take Subutex for the intended purpose for which it is used. So if you actually take the medication sublingually, this thread will help you. I have been taking buprenorphine for three and a half years now. This is what I have found: (8mg)

Best: Actavis 153/half moon (orange)
Middle: Roxanne 54/411 (white)
Worst: Hi-Tech 8/arrow

Again, this is for people who take medication as prescribed. You can actually break the medication in half and put it and the front of your lip like dip & chewing tobacco. It will take longer for it to dissolve like this but you will get much much more of the bupe.

Seems to me some if you ppl don't know the difference between subutex and suboxone.. SUBOXONE has an opiate blocker, naloxone.. While SUBUTEX does NOT.. subutex is mostly prescribed for pregnant women.. Its close to impossible to get prescribed subutex In my area unless your pregnant or nursing

You began this whole name calling thing by saying I was a shill for preferring the Actavis brand. Then, I reply to you by calling you out... and then you say everyone has their own preference... It is abundantly clear that you have the brainpower of an amoeba. So, I need to get a life huh? I started this thread to try to help people... based on MY PREFERENCE... and then along comes Mike running his mouth. Do everyone a favor... and try to formulate intelligent thoughts before you embarrass yourself again.

Sorry for the wrong info. The Sun pharmaceutical the imprint 460 we're terrible!!! I called Westward as many others. They informed me that there brand was equivalent to the former Roxane. Even sent a analysis which was equal. I'm still on them yet very hard to find them. Finally got them at Walmart 20 mls. away. Good luck God bless

Sorry for the confusion but there are 2 Mike's. Mike 35 and Mike 37 are 2 different people. I am the Mike that agrees with you. I think the antacid pills are the best.

Re: bupeODorol (# 6) Expand Referenced Message

If you don’t mind me asking, what state do you live in? I was on Subutex for about 6-7 years for chronic pain, after trying every opioid pain medication and not getting relief just withdrawals, and my pain doctor had no problem with prescribing me Subutex. Sadly, he passed away in 2016 and every doctor I’ve seen since only prescribes Suboxone, and they are saying now that it’s illegal to prescribe Subutex to anyone except for pregnant or nursing women! I realize that there is a true opioid problem in the US, but it’s very unfair that I am now treated like an addict because of that. I have never abused drugs. I’m not saying anything negative about people who have or had a problem, I know people who have battled addiction, and I understand. It’s just really sad that people with chronic pain are now paying for the bad choices others make. I’m now seeing a new doctor because I have Dysautonomia, and I have been on Klonopin for well over half my life for that, and my last doctor wouldn’t prescribe that for me. He was actually weaning me off though he said he knew I needed it for the Dysautonomia and said I could see another physician in his practice and pay another $80 per month just to get a fraction of what the dosage that I started on so many years ago. He did put on my records that he was prescribing the Suboxone for pain. So now I’m seeing a doctor who knows that I’m on it for pain, but he says he doesn’t prescribe it for pain and he requires that I go to meetings! I’m looking to move to another state, but I don’t know where to even begin looking for a place where doctors can help me. Thank you!

Re: bupeODorol (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

So having cotton mouth after cleaning mouth, tounge etc (even the toothbrush again after tounge and using floss 1-2 hours prior, plus and important for smokers and eating gargling warm water. Warm opens the glands absorption as running opens a lungs capillaries. Most people dissolve an 8mg Suboxone in 20 min so they say. I generally take 45 min without moving and gargle because 20 min after brushing teeth often food mixed with floride comes back up throat via lugy and compromises your absorption by calling extra flem down the mouth to be swallowed. 1/5 of bupe is said to absorb swallowed. I've never felt it, if so it has a really slowwwww action of effect so u already absorb another one under the tounge and don't notice. As for Subutex, it's more effective for me. Yet strips are far better absorbed than pills. Subutex strips aren't around. Although I've been overdosed on nalaxone/narcan by paramedics and had major instant migraines from them. Subutex works better. I feel clear headed, also less anxious and less chronic pain which if not mindful can cause injury because of the fake security the body feels. Plus as opioid addicts we tend to be hyper aware of our feelings. Uhhm methadone sort of tears that away.......I've had a few minor seizures mostly due to sleep paralysis due to over stressed environments and lack of sleeping catching up. Never on Subutex.

One, only after taking Adderall either with Suboxone and it was extremely large stress with exhaustion. Dopamine, gaba and epinephrine, norepinephrine and seratonin all are working together. When dopamine's depleted the other chemicals especially epinephrine takes over and imbalances over time cause shrinhypocampul region enlarging amygdala. If your extreme your not going to fall into Dr categories much talked about. You'll notice nurses not having a clue and Drs also not getting you. I recommend studying nih studies and journals through Google about case studies that helps confidence in non confirmation bias type ways. IN SHORT, DON'T TAKE SUBLINGUAL MEDS WITH OVERLY WET OR DIRTY MOUTHS, BAD TEETH NEED TREATING THEY LEAK ACIDIC CHEMICALS THAT DEMOLISH SUB MED. IF COTTON MOUTHING, MAKE UP LATER in water intake. Also, grapefruit works well even though it's said not to by assuming people who are dogmatic thinkers to need to eat the pills, but pills go through the blood stream building up in the liver where the extra potential enzyme in grapefruit juices lies. Don't use if have low tolerance or benzos especially. I'm a guy who defies the dogmatic laws of physiology, hence nerdy. Also extract of the grapefruit (white) will do better on pH in blood than having to pound too much juice. Hunter Thompson saved money but was he happy at age 65?

Hello, I guess nobody is going to answer my question about whether the pill or strips work better for pain. I'm on the strips and I take them "the correct way", correct enough that I have 925 days of clean U/A's, miss no meetings, stopped my progression in my program and purposely kept myself in phase 2, meaning I continue on a weekly basis. I feel more comfortable like this. I have the option to switch over to just pain management but I have an opiate addiction so this keeps me honest. Has anybody had experience with both? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, I've tried the whole putting it under my tongue & letting it dissolve ... not talking, not swallowing my spit for at least 30 mins ... not drinking anything for 30 mins route ... but it just DOES NOT work for me whatsoever..

Re: Laura (# 54) Expand Referenced Message

I've heard of butranz but never used it, I know the difference between Subutex and Suboxone, I was referring to the Suboxone sublingual pills . Was just wondering if one was better than the other , I will check into the butrans patch thank you for your help and information . I'm unable to use regular opiates for pain relief I've battled addiction for about the last 25 years which is a real bummer for some reason in my area they only give the strips except for the Subutex not sure if they make those in strips, they only give those to pregnant and nursing women. Again I thank you for your help and information, I'll be checking into those patches , how long do they remain active, how long do you wear them.

Re: Laura (# 57) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you, I'm looking up the butrans patch now to check it out , sounds like something I'd like to try. My primary care physician recommended me to enter the Suboxone program, due to my issue with the pain killers. I've battled this for years and was loosing the fight. I had an enormous tolerance to opiates, esp oxycodone. I would regularly run out of meds and that led to another whole different situation. At first I was sceptical about it helping with the pain , as alot of people claim it does nothing. It does, actually it's better, I can function and keep control of my usage, which is a Good send. Technically I being prescribed it for opiate dependency, but I can leave the program at any time and still receive it for my pain management, but remain in the program because it helps I enjoy it and it is very beneficial to me and my family. Brutal truth is I will be permanently dependent on some kind of pain management for the rest of my life. My first real victory was realizing and accepting that it's impossible to feel great and be totally pain free everyday. Again thank you so much for the information and talking with me I look forward to checking the butrans patch out and possibly trying it. I believe if others with this same issue with chronic pain would give bupenorphine a chance they would get better results and have a better quality of life . Thanks again and God bless

Re: Alderson history (# 47) Expand Referenced Message

I don't get what your saying here..the reason I ask is I've taken buprenorphine (subuex) and for some reason been having trouble with it working..I nothing first your talking about cotton mouth. Then wet clean mouth. Brushing, teeth, adderall?? What's that all about? Are you trying to say adderall may interfere with buprenorphine and the mouth having something to do with it. Please explain again and in short detail..I'm all over with this huge speach and I still don't get what your trying to say. Thx

Re: Christina (# 61) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you for sharing your experience with it I have both artificial hips and several vertical fractures in my spine from an accident on ride on equipment. I'm also unfortunately looking ahead to a knee replacement. This patch sound like a miracle to me, the sublingual strips have changed my life, completely. It doesn't give me any high or feeling of euphoria to chase. I would say I'm physically dependent on it for necessity, meaning I would probably have some sort of withdraw if I stopped taking it suddenly, but most all medications that you take on a regular basis for an extended period of time will cause this. It gave me my life back, and actually improved it substantially. I've got my regular check up with my primary care physician coming up soon and I'm planning on bringing this product up to him. Again I can thank you guys enough for you input.

Re: Charlene (# 66) Expand Referenced Message

Hello Charlene and I love Sarasota. I live in Atlanta now which is my home, but I lived in Destin for 14 yrs. Ok yes I've been on Subutex since 2005. Started Suboxone but couldn't tolerate the naloxone. I was on 32 mgs for 6yrs, then dropped to 24. I was told that was the dose my insurance would cover. My dilemma started when the Roxane brand was sold to Westward which is now Hikma so? Well I did A LOT OF RESEARCH ON GENERICS IN GENERAL. Example: clonazepam 1mg - I take 3 a day. They became garbage. Made in India and China etc. I talked to my Dr and we did the prior authorization and I am now on Klonopin brand name. I'm ready to do the same with Subutex. Although these are made in the USA (Ohio & N. Carolina.) I never felt high, that's not my intention. They did fill my opiate receptors and for the first time I had no cravings. Also I just had a little up feeling if you know what I mean and you probably do. Anyway they've become like a flatline. But here's the deal with this month. Maybe I got a good batch, which they ALL SHOULD BE. Anyway I did feel like the old Roxane for the most part. If I get anymore that are not effective the protocol is contact Human so? Then file a complaint with the FDA. I am very proactive on this because I was told I would have to take these the rest of my life and we are the consumer making these companies rich. Good luck!

Re: Jessica (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

Yes the ones from Sun Pharmaceuticals I've never seen anywhere else but Publix they did burn my tongue at first but after getting them for a few months it goes away. They do their job though I think the worst ones are the orange activist ones those are the worst. And most places only have the orange ones now now. I have told the pharmacy not to give me those because I had a bad reaction so after filling a few times after I went home the next day I looked at my prescription and it was the orange one so I called them and they said there's nothing they can do that's what they're getting for now on so now I'm screwed and stuck with these. I'm going to go into my doctor to see if there's anything they can do. But I don't think so. I was wondering if something like that happened are you just screwed or what a doctor actually help you? Try to get different ones or something. Milan pharmaceutical brand that has an m on one side the 924 on the other is the other kind that works well but I haven't seen those anywhere anymore.

Re: Lolo (# 76) Expand Referenced Message

Just wondering if your from Florida area? Just because I noticed you mentioned the grocery store publix..I have never bumped into either sun brand or Mylan since my buprenorphine treatment back in 2007. I take 4 8s a day..but when I heard we had a new generic Rhodes on the market my hunt began. Calling places walking into places if I was in an area of a pharmacy. So I walked into publix to ask.what they carried that store told me sun I've never gotten my bup in a publix before no special reason idk .its crazy because I have 5 stores in close range of my home and have at least 4 relatives that work for publix and 2 aunts retired .. I never bumped into sun, Mylan ever...now I also have again 5 Walgreens in my area to one is walking distance. They have carried orange half moon forever and that the spot of last resorts I ordered from them like I said it would have to be a desperate situation for me. I hate them. Number 1, they have less bup in them compared to all the others..and they make me like a dull feeling. My dr.has to give me clonadine for the month if I had ended up with them live heard alot of bad results about sun and most ppl don't like actavis so .... I really hate to complain to much about them really because in the back of my mind it thinks what if they disappeared somehow from the opioid epidemic going on. I know it will never happen. But I try to accept them because we actually need them.
