Generic Suboxone Teva Brand Not Impressed
UpdatedI wason the AN 415 orange generic suboxone tablets and for no reason at all other than to cut their ordering costs Rite Aide just switched to the 93/5721 generic suboxone tablets they are no where near as good I have diarrhea, nausea, irritability and high blood pressure after switching to the Teva brand. The pharmacy swears the tablets are the same milligrams and same active ingredients, but I highly disagree. I was slowly tapering down on the orange AN 415 but since being put on these I can't do that any longer. I usually don't complain when insurance was covering it but I am disabled and only get $630 a month since I'm paying $301 out of pocket for them each month I expect the best.

Wow! That is a crazy out of pocket cost, I can't believe the prices for some medications. My husband and I spent over $200 for an inhaler that I had a bad reaction to, and can no longer use. Are you no longer insured, or does your current plan just not cover this medication? Regarding the inhaler we had to pay for, we had not yet reached our deductible for the year.
And yes, there can be fluctuations between generic medications, as permissible under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, in the amount of the active ingredients. They are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus, or minus 20% and they do not have to measure against other generics, only against the name brand. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window, it was put in place to help bring generics to market faster, in hopes of creating competition to help keep prices down.
Additionally, the active ingredients do not have to be 100% exactly the same, further reading of the Hatch-Waxman Act gives details that they only have to be 'bioequivalent', which means they must act and work in the body in the same manner.
While the differences are slight, so most people never even notice, if someone is sensitive to medications, they may experience new side effects, or withdrawal effects, from any change, no matter how small. I have experienced such problems, myself.
When it comes to generic medications, it is possible to have been taking one that worked great for you, then your pharmacy suddenly stocks a different one and you may experience problems from the possible fluctuations.
