Generic Opana-people Speak Up (Page 6) (Top voted first)
UpdatedThey are saying that the new opana works as well as the old. There are so many peoples statements that I have read saying the new don't work as well but yet Endo states their research don't prove that. All people who have a real medical problem that causes pain and takes new opana and it doesn' work as well as the old needs to speak up. One person can't change anything. People who are being treated awful by medical doctors and pain clinics because they have pain also need to speak up.
I have been taking generic oxymorphone ER 20mg twice daily for only a couple of months now but after years of oxycodone instant has proven ineffective, this was the best option I had and it has worked very well. I can't see how an extended release medication can be abused, but I am very upset that now, since I've finally found a regimen that actually works, it is being taken away. I've tried everything else and nothing else works as well. Is there nothing that can be done? Can we not petition? Oxycontin ER isn't available in a generic and costs me $50 a month even with insurance while Opana ER is available in generic form and only costs me $6 a month. What can we do?
I still have not seen anything that cites a reliable source saying generic oxymorphone er (currently, the only manufacturer making this is Impax/Global Pharma) is also being taken off the market. It seems the FDA directed its demands to Endo, specifically. No statements have been issued by Impax indicating an intention to discontinue producing oxymorphone er... Can they keep making it?
Taking this one step further, Actavis had to discontinue making the generic version until 2023 due to patent infringement with Endo. Now that Endo no longer makes opana er, (and assuming generic version can still be sold), can Actavis begin producing generic again?
Everyone who is in need of opana er please sign this petition and share it!! Idk if it will work but I'm willing to do whatever I can to try to get my pain relief back!

I agree totally. I'm going through a similar situation. I hurt from my neck down to every muscle in my body. My doc scheduled me 5 weeks out, not four, and said to make them stretch. What? I still work 12 hour shifts and my whole body is swelling now from another condition, and pain is horrific. I can't take it.
Re: Dave (# 107)
Be quite. Then u spread it and then it will be taken off the market too.not many pharmacy s carry it.shhhhh
What are you talking about? Don't you know that they have stopped prescribing OPANA in all forms. Generic or name brand. Believe me I was on both of them and both helped better than what I have to take now. There is no sense in making a argument about a drug that's been pulled off the market.
First night on new. Guess will see if it works. Only ones that worked for me were the original red " stop signs "
Re: Doreen (# 106)
were you seeing a pain doctor or getting it from your PCP? Most PCP's will no longer prescribe narcotics and refer out to pain clinics.
Re: Jenna (# 101)
I said the exact same thing! It's not our fault real people in pain are being punished for their ignorant drug addiction. So take away a reformulated pill that works instead of fentanyl, it should go help the illicit drug epidemic they don't seem too concerned with, trying to make us suffer. Unbelievable... We should be able to sue someone since the Government was suing endo and the big pharms will know about us!
Re: Cactus Arizona (# 112)
I am still being prescribed the generic form oxymorphone Doctor has to write it as that not opana I have bwen taking these for 6 years now. Yes original opana ER was pulled a few months ago.
Re: Rebel57 (# 113)
Get the immediate release. And don't drug shop for certain pills.
Re: Justin (# 104)
You can still get generic form just not Opana at least here in Iowa cause thats what I had to switch to this week
Re: Pained (# 115)
When you see one of your friends selling pills, turn them into the cops. That would help.
D (# 118) --
Stop telling people before that's taken off too!!!
Re: Rebel57 (# 117)
Well that's great. Your so lucky. Where I'm at doctor won't prescribe anymore because of all the deaths that's been going on. The Feds pulled it is what I was told.
They did pull the Endo opana, but not the generic form as of yet. They are going to I'm sure. It might be why they're not prescribing it. I have been taking this medicine for 6 years only it. Nothing else. They say they are two completely different pills, the reformulated opana is what was being injected in Indiana causing a huge outbreak of HIV and deaths. How? Who knows. It's only going to make the illicit drug epidemic worse. It's not helping anyone for them to take them off the market. People like us legitimate pain patients are not abusing our meds. It's not fair or right! I'm angered also the generic will be next! Also, I go to a legitimate pain management doctor, not a clinic!

Nothing was pulled and your doctor is a liar. I picked mine up yesterday. Get a doctor that doesn't spread lies.
The latest Opana on the market has little effect on me. The yellow ones prior the same thing. The red ones ( stop signs), were the best. When I told my Dr. he said I was the first to say anything yet in the lobby several of us were discussing this and they to had told the Dr. Why the lying of its effectiveness?
Re: Psl772 (# 125)
Wow yes I see this. I’m going to have a talk with him. Thank you.
Re: Pained (# 124)
Yes I agree with you. I was on Opana for many years and I got schooled on here because I told the truth they can’t prescribe Opana any more and when my doc told me he put me on generic Opana to try and wean me off my dose of Endo Opana is what I know. I’m taking different meds now which yes I felt totally upset when they took the Opana away for it helped better than any meds I’ve had. This medicine I’m on now helps but doesn’t last as long. So yes they’ll stop prescribing Opana and the generic is not the same it’s not good at all so see how long this will last cuz they stopped this a while ago. Oh and I was also speaking about the doubters that say Opana is here to stay. Geez I’m glad you made your post. Thanks
