Generic Opana-people Speak Up (Page 5) (Top voted first)
UpdatedThey are saying that the new opana works as well as the old. There are so many peoples statements that I have read saying the new don't work as well but yet Endo states their research don't prove that. All people who have a real medical problem that causes pain and takes new opana and it doesn' work as well as the old needs to speak up. One person can't change anything. People who are being treated awful by medical doctors and pain clinics because they have pain also need to speak up.
Who can u complain to? I live in NE Ohio and can't find a doc that Will prescribe any pain medicine. I had low back surgery a few years back. After the surgery I was still having pain, mostly in my right buttock and down my right. Leg. They did another MRI that showed scar tissue had formed around my S1 nerve root. Still can't get pain meds. If anyone reads this and knows of a compassionate doctor near Wooster,Ohio please let me know at- rwhjr@live. com, sometimes I feel like I would rather be dead then feel like this every day.
I am a cpp and also have acid reflux - I had surgery for it in Feb 2012 and I was starting to feel better for a very short time. This is when they changed the formula of Opana ER - Now, six months later after experiencing severe reflux and stomach problems my doctor performed several tests to find out what was wrong. They found two ulcers! I don't think it's a coincidence that I developed ulcers within 6 months of taking the new glue formula. So I talked to my pain doctor and told her what I thought happened and that I am looking for a doctor to tell me it could have been caused by the glue that sticks to your insides and that I would like to get the old formula back in the generic form. I was told that their office won't prescribe the generic because of the abuse potential, not just by me but people who may break in to steal them, etc. I was told that the court is now involved and most likely all generics will be pulled. I know it's because of ENDO and it makes me sick. The problem is that Opana is the only med that helps my pain so I don't want to switch. I don't know what to do!
I would look on the internet to find a pain management doctor in your area.you have to go to your family doctor to send them a referral.u have an mri and proof that i have pain so u should not have a problem.most family doctors won't give u nothing if they do its on a short baseace. There alotyle of pain management doctors and u can find them all on the computer.they even have some in the phone book.
Robert, its a damn shame you can't get any help. The reason you can't is the teenagers that are getting into their parent's medicine cabinets and overdosing.(This is not my opinion, its what I was told by the PA at the pain clinic.) Now we that are in pain have to pay the price for negligent parents. Those parents are the ones going to those meetings and complaining about narcotics and trying to get them removed from the market. Wonder how many of them were passed out drunk while their children were stealing their meds? It makes me sick and its not fair! If they didn't want their medicine THEY should have been responsible and destroyed it, not leave it for their kids to take. Now those of us in true pain pay the price. I don't have children getting into my meds and if I had teens around I'd be responsible and keep them locked up. I live in NC so can't help you with a dr, but mine told me its going to get worse. I can't ever get a raise although they don't give me enough now and they won't give me Oxymorphone either. Glad to write my script for Opana ER CR (CRUSH RESITANT) though because its no good anymore. Worthless for pain now. It IS good, however, for stomach pain, constipation, insomnia, making your food taste awful etc etc...
I KNOW MOST DOCTORS REALLY ACT LIKE THEY'RE THE FBI. I LUCKED OUT AND MET A REAL PAIN PROFESSIONAL,AND SO FAR HE'S BEEN VERY NICE TO ME AND GIVES ME NAME BRAND OPANA ER. I WAS INTRODUCED BY MY SHRINK,YOU NEED ONE OF THESE TOO,THAT UNDERSTANDS CHRONIC PAIN.
I just wanted to say, for the first time, I'm trying the Oxymorphone ER & this is the crazy part: my insurance will pay for the brand name Opana ER, but will not pay for the generic?! I've heard a lot of bad feedback about the brand name not breaking down once it's ingested, but that the generic is good to go. So, instead of paying $45. for 60 pills, I'm having to pay $300.!? Why is this happening? Is there some sort of pay off here? It's definitely hurting me financially! Is there really a difference in the brand versus the generic? Please, someone help me find an answer.
I just got put on opana xr 30mg ...i was on oxycotin 40mg ...dont feel like i am getting any relief. And my boobs are tender as hell ...is the generic really better and what about the side effects???? Thanks
I have been a chronic pain patient for 28 years this Nov. and I use Opana er, which works pretty good.It doesn't seem as strong as the original Opana. I know that when the rain comes, just before it rains I am bed ridden and and can't function at all. I need pain relief. I think people that abuse this drug go by the high they might feel as compared to the new formula that doesn't give you the same sensation.
I'm not into feeling high off my drugs that I take. Pain relief is all I look forward to,and sometimes the doctor I used to have gave me what he called a rescue med, which was the Opana 10mg. to take that edge off only during bad weather. Today I use 40mg. Opana er 3x a day,and it does work but now I need that rescue med and the doctor I have now won't write a script for them. I NEVER abuse my drugs, ever. I need them to live or I will be someone nobody wants to be around (they make me normal). I have been on percocets and I became addicted to them and nobody wanted to help me off of them except the hospital detox unit, which I couldn't do.
Being disabled for as long as I have and doing drugs almost all of that time I have had major battles dealing with the drugs I've been on, between feeling euphoria off of them and the drug store not being able to do their job right and having my pain pills available when I needed them I would start detoxing while waiting for them to come in.
I detoxed myself off the drugs I was taking by myself, and NO help from anyone. Then I found a pain doctor who prescribed Opana and have been on them ever since(which is about 8yrs. now)I'm scared if their would be any problem getting these pills or another doctor. I never want to experience what I did coming off of the previous meds I've been taking. I really never pictured my life being in chronic pain and having to be medicated for the 28 years I've been hurting. I have tried every doctor, drug therapy, all the physical therapy I could do,diets, you name it.I hate to admit it but I am addicted to my meds and really never wanted drugs, but I have to. When I compressed my spine,I had so much damage and it's getting worse every year, surgeries are out due to it being a comp case my employer wouldn't approve because they never wanted to pay for it. Because of all the legal mumbo jumbo, I been through. My health was the last thing on their list of having me get the help I needed, so now I suffer on a daily basis. Without Opana I would have given up years ago.
The generic is way better my pharmacy had to order it ....but the brand sucks if u can get the generic go for it....
I broke my back at the age of 4. Have herniated disc at l5 s4. Prior to my fusion surgery I was on opana er 20mg twice a day. I found no pain relief whatsoever until one day the pharmacy filled the generic oxymorphone er 20mg. Since then it was like day and night. I was able to function. The pain was still there, but it was managable. My spinal fusion was in may, and since then i have been begging to be put back on the oxymorphone. First they put me on dilaudid 4mg with opana er 20mg. The dilaudid worked for breakthrough pain, but I was still in a lot of pain. Then I was switched to fentanyl 25mg patch and percocet 10mg 6 times a day for breakthrough still no relief. Then exalgo er 12mg and percocet 10mg 4 times a day for breakthrough. I had so many side effects from the exalgo including join pain extreme depression and sweating as if I was going through withdrawal. I finally got back on what works for me. Oxymorphone er 20mg twice a day and 10mg percocet for breakthrough pain, but I am having some issues with the pharmacy and Dr office with medicaid approval and pre authorization even though I was on the medication for over 6 months. I asked my pain management dr once why I got relief from the generic yet not the name brand and he explained that they aren't the same and my body may metabolize them differently. I know first hand the generic works for me and the name brand does nothing.
Totally agree! I suffer with horrible chronic pain - the old generic worked. Then this plastic pill that i pass in my stool? And the FDA is letting them sell this joke?
Tori, i have ibsd and i take amitiza at times which helps, but i have been getting so many fibro flare ups its been horrible. I am on generic opana 30 made by global but that isnt working so well so i am gonna get bumped up to 40mg of generic opana. I hope it helps and i think with these opiates you take a risk but the pain is so bad what choice do you have. I consume medical Marijuana that helps also....
If you can find another medicine it's the same as the global formulation but much better I was on globals before till I got on a brand that's called actavis I am on 2 15 MGs pills 3 xs a day and they work great for me and that's saying a lot since I have been through 7 surgeries 4 fusions and need 2 more done due to missing a screw at the L5/S1 area and the L3/4 is vertebrae on vertebrae so if you can find this medicine I believe it's is a lot stronger and last much better just a little info for people that need a pain medication and you're still does not work well
If you don't mind me asking, what is your pain due from? I recently had back fusion surgery but looking for better relief than the current medication my Dr is prescribing. Currently taking Percocet 10/325. I've taken the Opana 40mg before and they worked great. How can I go about getting those or an equivalent? Thanks in advance
Just cause it helps to not have withdrawals doesn't mean they work. They're prescribed for pain not withdrawals and this plastic s*** is horrible. They suck for pain. I took several tablets over a 24 hour period and my transform works better. This company is ripping people off with a placebo. My dr switched me from fentanyl to opana and unfortunately right before the weekend so I have to be in agonizing pain all weekend till I can have my dr change to something else. Thanks a lot endo ripping people off.
You are so right. Living this way is hell enough and the opanas weren't working as well for me either. The minute my eyes opened in the am I would take my opana. Don't be surprised if they don't give you the generics anymore because my doctor told me he can't give it to me anymore. I was on brand name and generic. Generic for two months now it's MS CONTIN I pray I get relief. I'm tired of having to explain my pain. I am not a junkie!!!! I didn't chose this life who would? At least as a junkie you probably feel good off what you do. Damn with my pain my meds barely work. I will never have anyone treat me like I am a junkie. I'll leave my Pain doctor if I was treated like that. He is cool and he understands and let me tell you GOD BLESS MY DOCTOR I don't just need pills I get epiderals and cortisone shots to plus procedures and coming soon fusions. If I can't take the pain now I doubt I'll go thru a fusion. There taking everything from us and yes it's about money because why should they care that the generic opana helps people if it wasn't about money. I'm so pissed about all of this. Your post made me want to reply. God be with you and I feel the same.
Why make such a low dose ER? Makes NO sense at all!!!!
