Generic Lexapro Side Effects

Hi all, I was wondering about the side effects from the generic Lexapro: Escitalopram 10 mg/daily. I used to take clonazepam for a few years and then switched to escitalopram, which I took for about six months when I dropped in cold turkey last year. Now, I am back on it, and the side effects are awful. I don't remember them being this bad. The dizziness, nausea, inability to concentrate and drowsiness is beyond belief. Is anyone else having the same problems? Do the dizziness and drowsiness ever go away? I have a very upbeat job and can't afford to not have energy during my 10-12 hour shifts. Also, I keep falling asleep during the day and I never take naps! I was put back on for my anxiety, not depression, and now I feel numb. Can someone relate to anything I'm saying?

CALL your doctor and make a visit. if s/he does not listen, then u neeed to think about getting a new doctor.
How Long has it been since you've been off the Lexapro?. It's been six months for me and since then the muscles aches and pains have disappeared. It takes time, but be patient! It seemed as though I was always in the ER or doctor's office until I was off the Lexapro for good.
You should also check to see if what you're on now is a different brand. Despite the manufacturer claims, some people do react differently to the different formulations.
My doctor weaned me off lexapro slowly. I was on it for more than 10 years, and it helped me so much with depression. Since taken off of it, I feel absolutely terrible. My energy level is zero,my muscles ache thru out my body, and I feel dizzy sometimes.
I am at three weeks since quitting Lexapro cold turkey. I was on 20 mg of Escitalopram for two years and gained almost 40 pounds with no change in eating habits. I have had flu like symptoms since quitting, but today I woke up feling fine! I'm so glad I stuck it out, I almost went back. It DOES get better!
Your body does change with time, so even though you may not have had such bad side effects before, it's always possible for it to just suddenly happen, when you try something again.

And yes, they should start to taper off after about 4 to 6 weeks, when your body adjusts to the medication. If they don't, then that's when you need to contact your doctor and discuss your other options.
