Generic Buprenorphine 54 411 Vs M 924 (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

I've been going to a clinic for almost a year now and each time I get prescribed 8mg Subutex. When I would fill my prescription I would receive 54 411 white tablets. Today when I picked it up I got M 924 white tablets. The only difference I've found is the manufacturer. The manufacturer for the 54 411 is ROXANE and for the M 924 is MYLAN. Are they pretty much the same pill just different imprint/manufacturer?

Okay, the reason I did not like the buprenorphine is very simple. I was having seizures almost every day on it and on top of that I wasn't sleeping at all I never went into rem because I used to remember my dreams, also killed my libido sorry but that's important when you've been married for 17 years. And it made me less sympathetic to people, I literally couldn't give a crap whether they lived or died and that's not who I am. I have been off it for over 2 months now and I am dreaming again and I am painting and writing again and everything is wonderful and the best part is no damn seizures at all. Now I know doctors are little overboard with the caution this these days about prescribing old fashioned opiates, but I have 4 ulcers icannot take aspirin or nsaids and I have been on opiates for 17 years and the buprenorphinee was the worst worst thing I ever put in my body. That being said a lot of people have said they like it that it works for them they don't have side effects and that's great for them. But for me I couldn't even drive my car because I was afraid I'd sieze behind the wheel. I guess it just depends on the person and their DNA and how they acclimate to certain medications. But if you notice that you're getting tremors those are side effects from buprenorphine.ne and you're headed for a major Grand Mall seizure that's how it hit me. I had to be hospitalized for 3 days in Virginia because of it. When your medicine makes you sicker than when you're not taking it you shouldn't be taking it.

I know this message you posted may be old but no they did not stop making them, you just have to try other pharmacies. That's what I did.

In this particular instance they may be the same but typically all generics are not exactly the same Mylan is one of the worst manufacturers of generics especially benzos and having had numerous people think the same thing I don't think it's psychological.

I wish I could send a picture .. I have never gotten a bottle with the companies name on it but I've been on the m 924 for a while now target was out of the meds so I went to Walmart and got the 54 411 and on the side of the bottle it says each tablet contains 8.64 mg of buprenorphine HCL equivalent to 8 mg of buprenorphine base. Hope this helps anyone.. I advise no one to take more than one a day from my experience .. if your dope sick (which is why your prescribed this) than something is better than nothing a small piece will make you functional and able to work.. but it is what it is.. God is alive .. love your neighbors

I sincerely believe you're wrong about them being the same. I find the ones from Mylan are pathetic they make you nothing but tired the one from Roxanne is extremely much better in providing all day energy and mental alertness. However their effectiveness in curing the opioid addiction has yet to be seen, so far so good on that!

I believe you are correct. I am not sure who you are or what are you referring to. How did you get off subs if you don't mind sharing? That's what I need to do and I'm having a difficult time

It's the arrogance and the attitude of somebody whom I believe, based on their elitist attitude, your almost irritation with people's struggles, and the fact if you are so simplistic and moreover, simple minded that you fall into the category of not having the disease of addiction. You see my friend, if ANYONE ingests a physically addicting substance for long enough, even the strong and superior folks, like you, will become dependent...And you self admittedly don't get it...You can't even fathom why everyone is not like you and can't just stop...You are further evidence that 1) All suboxone patients are not addicts, rather just a person who became dependent on opiates for whatever reason, and 2) proves the theory that there are, even in 2017, close minded and all knowing fellow human beings there to promote themselves, and the most ignorant of all the folks seem to have the most to say, and admittedly don't understand, "why," by your own admission, and 3) If you are, "Cured," of addiction, I got news for you my narrow minded, obtuse, and in many ways offensive coolguy, are just a discouragement to those who actually DO suffer from the genetic predisposition to become addicts, which mind you is a disease according to the DSM IV defines as a) Chronic b) Progressive, and c) Fatal if not arrested at some point. You fall into the overall douche category that makes advancement of the study of real addicts stagnate. And finally, it begs the question, if you are so pompous and condescending and rude, (In my opinion,) why are you commenting on a topic in a forum designed for people to gain education, support, and strength, experience, and hope in order to help the addict that still suffers attain sobriety? You bring nothing of substance to the table except for your own self promotion and outright ignorance all around, regarding addiction. "Just stop." Great advice, for a non addict who is almost rubbing it in our faces. It begs the question, why? Why make that comment, Why come to this forum, and why put your arrogance, intolerance, and lack of empathy for others on display. Go back to kicking your dog, and not buying girl scout cookies, and self promotion that probably left you with nothing better to do but sit, ALONE, and practically gloat for your good fortune. Further proof that ignorance is bliss, and you are the epitome of why the advancement for addictions specialty in the medical fields has such trouble getting funding for outreach programs. We should all "Man up," and stop being addicts. You are BULL, as you so eloquently put it. Beat it. This is a place to go for information and help. And to help others, three things you obviously care nothing about.

Your information is inaccurate and misleading. Both Subutex and Suboxone is prescribed for opiate addiction. Doctors who prescribe Suboxone is usually the first treatment they prescribe to patients typically outpatient or private practice. Subutex is prescribed as well but usually is deemed for pregnant women and people who are allergic to the naloxone which is found in the Suboxone. Yes there are some doctors that prescribe both for off label purposes such as pain management....and usually when someone enters an inpatient drug program they typically give the patient subutex for the first few days so the addict does not go into immediate withdrawal due to lingering opiates in thier bloodstream

Re: Subzero Subutexn (# 170) Expand Referenced Message

Find somewhere else to talk smack! Everyone else in the world has pain too. You're right that's how the Subutex companies make money because people get strung out on pain medication. This is for discussing those issues. It's not a smack talking website. Find something better to do!

Re: Please no more Activas (# 176) Expand Referenced Message

I realize that this may sound like paranoia or something but I'm really beginning to think the government FDA is behind the extreme inconsistent and inefficient generic subutex. I mean I took the Roxane brand since 2005..No problem. Every my major depression disorder subsided. Now the pharmaceuticals are junk. I have tried them all. Roxane was bought out by Westward but that's impossible to obtain. It's Sun pharmaceutical company in India. We are screwed. My happy pill that saved my life is forever gone. I hear the mayor in NYC proposed a plan similar to UK or Canadian: monitor IV sights to administer heroin to eliminate ods. The other alternative is the poison methadone, the worst opiate on the planet to me - or suboxone. No mention of subutex. It's all about money too. Federal grants may be decreased with subs. Pharmaceutical Companies at war. I mean Roxane brand was sold for 2.1 billion dollars. Anyway, opioid crisis or what. Opium is being dumped in tons from Afghanistan, Mexico, etc. For me, I might as well try tapering off. It's all junk!!!

Yes there the same, but the newer one mylan 924 i believe has more toxic fillers in it.Its a billion dollar industry all about the money and how to manufacture it cheaper by the new company competitors coming out..

John Boy, I agree with you.

I also feel that there is something toxic about the Mylan generic subutex, to a point that almost seems to cancel out many of the benefits derived from taking this pill. I mean, okay, I'm no longer gobbling down Norco, but now I have trouble even getting up in the morning. True, I'm not ingesting potentially harmful amounts of aceteminophine any longer, but my stomach now feels worse for the wear from taking these Mylan.

I NEVER intend to resume my use of those opiate *agonist* pain meds and, frankly, I do not miss them one bit.

I DO wish the subutex that was first marketed -- the name brand, that is - was still available or, at the very least, a close approximation were released to the public. But, alas, just as you, John Boy, so astutely pointed out, it's all about the money. These pharm. companies do not care what type of toxic ingredients they use to pump up their products. They care about inflating only one thing: the cost.

I dont know Jeremy how you would have info. Mylan had more bupe etc. I called. Mylan pharmaceutical company today as a clinical tech pumping for info. Basically i was told they have 8mgs. of bupe. period. They are totally equivalent to brand as far as active bupe ingredient. Also to pass standerds they must have 90% mgs. I disagreed and filed a complaint leting them know the lot/batch didn't seem consistent. He agreed it could be a possibility so he gave my pharmacy info to research. I went to the source of course they may tell anyone anything but i dont like them or the surfboards or hi tech. Roxanes the most effective in my eyes. God bless

Okay, out of curiosity I decided to do back-to-back comparisons on the Mylan and the Roxane subutex pills. I transferred my remaining Rox. refill to a pharm. that carries only Mylan and here are my thoughts:

They are pretty much the same. Although from time to time there may be differences in one pill over another, I think they are almost identical right now. As I've mentioned in other posts, there are instances where a customer/patient may end up with a refill that contains a "mixed batch," i.e., the same generic manufacturer with pills that have varying amounts of buprenorphine, some of which may actually seem toxic. Recently I opened a bottle of Roxane generic subutex and the bottle actually seemed to emit fumes: a strong, medicinal odor that I have never before encountered.

Finally, in the past I have also tried the small ones (Acorn, Arrow, and others) and they are worthless. The pharmacist tried to tell me that the bioavailability in the small ones is actually greater than the amount of bup. in the larger pills. Still, when all is said and done, the best ones are no longer available at all, and that would be the Reckett original Subutex (the ones that were shaped, as someone else posted, like "surfboards."

I cant believe you were ever put on this medication (SUBS or Subutex) for pain. The fact that you have never struggled with addiction you should not have been put on this potent drug that your body cant function without. Not to mention how expensive this drug can be if you dont have insurance. It awful that you are in so much pain. Sounds like the Doctor you are going to failed you , BIG TIME. I really hope you werent going to a clinic(methadone or sub) to see this doctor bc those are the worst kind. You dont call those people doctors.. they are there to cram as many people in in the coupoe hours they are there .They write scripts all day, they dont listen. A family doctor or a pain managment place would be better than that.. Best of luck to you. Stay positive . Our words become our reality.

Just curious, of why you don't like them cause that is what I picked up from pharmacy today. I don't need any side effects other than what I am used too....

Not Easy but can be done! lot of factors involved. How long have you been on them? Do you think you will go back to opiates? Best way without that info, is to wean yourself off slowly? Without knowing all the above it is kind of hard to answer

Some pharmacies only carry certain brands or certain types of generic medications. If you do not like the kind your pharmacy is now only carrying then call and ask other pharmacies which brands they carry. When you find one thy carried the medication you prefer switch pharmacies. You'll need to notify your dr, and tell the pharmacy you are changing and going to a new pharmacy.
