Gaining Weight With Eliquis
UpdatedSince taking Eliquis my weigh keeps going up. If I take a waterpill once a week, I lose 3-4 pounds overnight. I think there is a lower dosage like 2.5. It must be available at that strength. My food intake or activity are the same. I always maintained the same weight.

Yes, weight gain is a typical side effect of Eliquis, many people have reported experiencing it. As reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising.
And yes, it is available in both 2.5mgs and 5mgs.
Is there anything else I can help with?
I have gained 25 pounds and recently stopped eating any carbs and back working out 1 hour a day. not even a budge on the scale. I also have a swollen belly not sure if this is a side effect or not.
I have been on Eliquis for 2 months now and keep gaining weight though my diet hasn't changed! Will the weight gain stop? Why does it make you gain weight? Please help.
My "dry weight", according to my cardiologist, is 119 lbs. 5 ft 6 1/2, 93 years old. But I have difficulty maintaining this weight. Really have to eat but have poor appetite and most days the scales show 112 lbs or less. I do not eat meat or dairy, white sugar or white flour.-. I take 2,5 mg Eliquis twice a day.
My doctor wants me to start taking eliquis as I have a family history of heart disease. I had 2 blood clots in 1981, never took anything and my health was great. I stopped working, remained at home to care for my parent and got a blood clot in 2015. So i have been on warfarin since. But doctors seem less concerned and want to prescribe meds that need no monitoring. I am scared to take this med. So i told my doc this and she said to find another physician. How safe is eliquis, and what tests can be done to verify eliquis is working correctly?
Re: Star (# 5)
So far, this is the safest one available.
No blood tests. Much safer that others.
The only side affect I have is weight gain. That makes me sad because I don’t have any other side affects.
Have not mentioned weight gain to Hematologist. He is planning to lower dosage t0 2.5 2X a day at year anniversary of DVT’s and PE’s in June. I’m 65 Years old and have wanted to stay on 5 mgs. 2X a day because of strong family history of sudden death, most likely caused by clots. In fact, I am lucky to be alive. Maybe weight gain will leave on lower dose? I hope.

Is 2.5 enough to prevent blood clots in Afib?
