I was off Gabapentin for many, many months and gradually went DOWNHILL with depression and anxiety. I finally went back on it yesterday and I actually feel "normal"! Well, normal for me. I do believe it's a miracle drug! I'm more grateful than I can say! ## Yes it's a miracle med that really works on my feet and legs the electrical pains disappear in about five mins after i take it and unfortunate thsts all it helps and just for taking that pain away it's a blessing,oh I forgot to mention i take the liquid because the pills are to big i can't swallow them and its NASTY ## Thank you both for the feedback on Gabapentin. My husband was prescribed gabapentin for severe tinnitus. . From the very first gabapentin reduced and sometimes completely stopped the tinnitus, but after about three weeks of use his tinnitus came back as strong as ever and the gabapentin gave him no relief. Has anyone else had that experience that the pills just stop working? If you continue does it start helping again? ## Hello, Chlokara! How are you? Prior surgery in 2002 for spinal stenosis...bars and screws - sever stenosis above previous surgery ...Neurosurgeon prescribed Gabapentin 3 times a day for nerve block. ## Hello, Shirle! How are you? I have been reading some of the discussion threads and really would love your advice. So back in 2012 I slipped two discs with one that had a tear and I have spinal stenosis. Had wonderful docs that helped me get back to some since of normalcy. I had used Gabapentin for a period of time, then came off of it once I had an injection for my right leg nerve pain and numbness. Just a note, I have never been 100 percent probably not even 75 percent. There were times when the pain in my back was so bad, I would would just be angry. A second MRI was done last year and they told me I was not a candidate for surgery and gave me other suggestions like yoga, etc. That proved to be more harmful then good. The FDA classifies Gabapentin as an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Drowsiness can be a side effect of it, along with dizziness, nausea, dry mouth and weight gain. Memory loss is also listed as a possibility. Have you consulted your doctor? This might not be the right medication for you.

My Australian Shepherd takes this for seizure disorder. He has been prescribed 1 capsule 3 times per day. Because of my work schedule, it's very difficult to dispense 3 times. I know that is optimal, but can I give him one in the morning and 2 at night? ## Unfortunately, no. That's not going to work the same way. The reason it's given spaced over the day is to try to keep a constant level of the medication in his system to prevent the seizures. Do you have a friend or neighbor that may be able to help? ## Hi I was wondering if it works well? I take this drug for nerve pain..it will make you sleepy when you first start taking it, but no, it will not make you feel high. Not like taking a narcotic pain reliever such as hydrocodone or oxycodone. This is not a narcotic pain reliever.

Had neck surgery. but it didn't help with my legs and feet. They are numb, feels like they are asleep, my hands also are numb and feel like sandpaper. Do you think Gabapetin 100mg 3 times a day will help with these affects. ## Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that has also been proven effective at helping with certain types of nerve pain. The Dr. Thought this would help with my nerve pain and anxiety I have been taking it for 3 weeks and have gained 6 pounds and it has affected my legg strength and how much I can walk should I quit taking it. I am a 68 year old woman. ## Hi Bev, Sorry to hear about the Gabapentin not working as intented. But I wouldn't stop taking it without talking to your doctor first. According to NIH.gov, if you were to suddenly stop taking it, you may experience withdrawal symptoms (such as anxiety, insomnia, pain, nausea, sweating, etc.) as a result of not tapering. For these reasons it's probably best to work with your doctor on gradually decreasing the dose over an allotted period of time (NIH recommends at least a week). I have been taking 300 mg of Gabapentin for the past eight months and I now have a very bad buzzing in my head. It has been getting worse in the past couple of months. I quit taking the drug for five days but it didn't seem to matter. ## Hello, Bordy! How are you? I was just put on the gabapentin 100mg 3x daily for severe leg and hip pain. I also take tylenyol with codeine at night. Do the side effects wear off of drowsiness/dizziness? My pain comes from spinal stenosis of the lumbar, and osteoarthritis. I am hoping this will will be a long term fix as nothing else has been. I am still in need of working and have not been able to due to all my ailments. ## Hello, Debra! How are you? Gabapentin 300 capsules do they contain a corn or soy fillers or binders ## Hi Brenda, Because there are a number of manufacturers who produce this drug (e.g. Actavis, Pfizer, Teva, etc), you would need to provide us with the exact imprint on the capsule in order to determine if "your specific capsule" of Gabapentin contains such ingredients. Just at a glance, I did see that both Actavis and Pfizer's 300mg Gabapentin lists corn starch as the second inactive ingredient used in its composition, but nothing in particular that mentioned soy. My wife needs 6% Gabapentin in a neutral crème. Do you know where I can fill a prescription for this in a tube. The local pharmacy compounds this for her but charges too much. white oval pill with nt 151 on it ## Hi Jean, From what I could gather, the pill you have marked NT 151 is in fact Gabapentin, which is used for neuralgia, seizures, restless leg syndrome and more. This particular pill reportedly contains 800mgs of Gabapentin to be exact. For added verification, it is manufactured by a company called Allied Pharma, and carries a National Drug Code of 76267-150.
