Gabapentin Dependency (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHi, I've been on Gabapentin about two years, but recently the Dr. increased the dose to 300 mg three times a day...for anxiety. I have been only trying to take it every other day instead. On the off days, I feel crummy. But if i took it daily, then the eventual withdrawal would be horrendous from what I've read. Besides that, I'd build up a tolerance to it pretty quickly and wouldn't be as effective in a short amount of time. Does anyone else take it every other day instead of daily?
Re: Rhonda (# 7)
Hi Rhonda, I THINK i understand about the hostile thing. I'm not hostile, but I get paranoid to where I am feeling hostile towards everyone around me and scared to death i could have some kind of altercation with someone, if they said something to me directly about how I appear or something.
I am prescribed Gabapentin at 900 mg (3x300 mg) at bedtime, for neuropathy. I have been taking it for over 4 years, without any known side effects. I know that without it I experience severe pain in my feet, which prevents me from sleeping (hence, the "at bedtime" in the prescription).

Re: juli (# 23)
Thanks juli,
Glad to hear you did NOT have withdrawal symptoms. Seems like it's all over the internet about having severe w/s. I may ask Dr. in a couple weeks if i can increase it a little. Doesn't seem to be enough spread out over course of the day.
I've been taking gabapentin for sciatica back problems, etc... Long story short, i'm feeling a lot better with no pain down my leg at all now. I've been taking it for a good few weeks now to get it in my system. The question is, when do you stop taking it so I can go back to work? I feel great just now but is that because of the meds and will I go back to intolerable pain if I stop? Thanks in advance.
