Gerd And Globas Sensation

Thank you for the help. I am suffering with GERD since quite some time. Earlier days I used to have some heart burn and it would relieve from anti-acid tables and syrups. However, from past 2-3 years the acid reflux has become worse, with lot of choking sensation in throat, heaviness in throat, un-easiness in breathing and it gets worse when I go for bed, each time I need to cough and drink water to make my-self a bit comfortable. This sensation remains most of the day when I take some citric foods and in nights I can’t sleep. I tried elevating the front portion of bed and going for bed 2 hours after a meal, however, these artifacts were proved to be of not much help. I am on Neksium 40mg daily one before food and Gaviscon syrup after food only at night, this table relieves this discomfort temporarily and once I discontinue the tablets the problem recur. I underwent Endoscopy Biopsy and the reports are normal also consulted an ENT and underwent MRI, some signs of deviated nasal septum are noticed and it is not the absolute cause for this discomfort. I consulted many Gastroenterologists and Physicians, they say its Globas Sensation and its gets aggravates with anxiety as well. Referring to my life style, I am a software engineer and I work late nights and skip or have late BF, Lunch and Dinner often. Also, I have work burden with some family issue haunting me. Doctors attribute to his discomfort phenomena to these aspects as well and they prescribe the same tablets, and I feel better till I take tablets and it recur once I stop them. I need a permanent solution for this discomfort, it’s really bothering and hindering my personal and official life, I was wondering if there ever relief or cure exist for my discomfort.
I appreciate any useful suggestions and advice in this regard and I would be happy to undergo any further test advised.

Have you tried consulting a counselor or psychologist?

I think that may be of the greatest benefit to you. If you're experience globus sensation, you may need something to treat your anxiety to help prevent it from occurring.

It is usually due to an actual inflammation that occurs.

However, if it's received by taking the medication for GERD, then I suspect that it may not be globus sensation, but actual acid reflux. Not all of it leaves noticeable damage, especially if you've been taking the medication.

The FDA lists the typical side effect of Nexium as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, flatulence and stomach pain.

How long have you stayed on the medication? Usually, it takes about 16 weeks to fully help, plus you need to stay away from any acidic foods and alcohol.
