Frequent Urination From Bisoprolol

My mom is 94. She was put on bisoprolol in march. Recently she has begun to experience frequent urination going most of the day. It has increased within the past week especially. Anyone else have this problem?

That is normal, frequent urination is listed by the FDA as being a side effect of most blood pressure and cardiac medications. You may also experience dizziness, headache and hypotension.

How much fluid does she take in each day?

Is she on any other medications?

I am 65 and since starting bisoprolol/hctz 10/6.25mg I have to urinate 5 or 6 times during the night. It is horrible. I asked my doctor for another medication that is not a diuretic and he said it's such a low dose that it doesn't cause frequent urination. Wrong!

I notice similar effect on me. I got heart murmer and hospital prescribed this. I got low b.p. but this med is for patient having high b.p. wrong med causing urination. Doctors think they know more. They never bother to check with the reaction of meds on patient after one week.. it's your life and your luck.

I too find myself urinating four times as much during the night as the day, I had put this down to an inefficient heart but reading this thread reminds me I didn't have this problem before I took Bisoprolol. I guess slowing down the heart causes the same effect as a weak heart and allows fluid to collect more in the extremities, lying down at night and all the fluids come back into play.
