Foot Surgery Soon

Updated June 21, 2015

I am having painful foot surgery next month. I want to make sure my pain medication works for me. I have tapered down my suboxine to 1/5 of a 2mg. strip every other day. If I am off completely for a few days before surgery, will the pain medication work?

It would be best to double check with your doctor to make sure you stop taking it for the proper amount of time, before surgery.

The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

How long have you been on the Suboxone?
