You NEED to have your prescribing M.D. set you up with a supply while in transition to Florida. Any Doctor would do this for you. You will find thousands of Doctors in South Florida, some even practice without a License, quite popular in Miami!
Okay. A Dr. Here in Dallas would never give out more than a month supply and u have to go to the Dr. Office for a visit each. Time to get. A re fill. I am terrified i will be in Florida with no way to get my meds. I. Have seizures if I go without My xanax
Layla, it is up to your Doctor on how they want to dispense a controlled med. However if this Doctor knows your situation and really cares they will provide a refill or two. I can't say whether you will have a problem in FLL obtaining the amount of Xanax you take. 6 mg a day is a lot in any State and Florida is having a Pill problem. Don't these two medicines you mentioned fight with each other? Do you have a medical plan with a list of providers to consult?
I am sorry, but no, it is not up to her doctor.
The way prescriptions for such controlled substance can be written, such as not being able to have any refills, is a federal law. The doctor has no choice, on strictly controlled substances, they are not allowed to write them with any refills, the person must be seen each month and receive a new prescription.
And, even if the doctor did try to do so, no pharmacy would be allowed to honor it and they'd have to report the doctor according to the law, so the authorities can investigate why the doctor was doing something illegal.
Now, with that covered, Layla, under the new laws, you'll most likely be referred to a psychiatrist to continue receiving such medications. There have been concerns about general practitioners improperly prescribing.
And the best thing that you can do is to see a new doctor and make sure that they get a full copy of your current medical records, so they can see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past, as noted by fellow physicians. If you just go in asking to continue these types of medications up front and have never been to see them before, most doctors will see that as drug seeking behavior.
However, if they see the details in your medical records, they will be more apt to prescribe accordingly.
Are there any other questions or comments?
A controlled medicine can be written for up to a 6 month supply, and absolutely can be transferred once in that time frame. Again there might be a State law prohibiting the transfer the medicine between States, the pharmacist would know. You could always have refills parked at any national pharmacy waiting for you. This monthly Doctor requirement that Verwon speaks about is absurd. Show me a Federal link, not a local, city, county or state ordinance?

Please help! I'm in Plano of the Dallas area and have seizures from anxiety and constant headaches and spine pain. I'm from CA and only here for about a week. I need a doctor that will prescribe me 5mg valuim and 10/325 norco. If anyone can help me it would be highly appreciated!
My comments about obtaining refills for use in another State does NOT apply to a C2 or C3 Med. In this Xanax forum I was only speaking about Xanax
