There seams to be an unbelievable amount of misinformation going about
Drug take about 12 hours to get into your system.a 25 patch is a relative low dose. If you are having all sorts if problems without it, for god sake call your dr. Patches usually have about 4 days worth drugs . If you are running out leave patch on for 4 days, and then you have 12 hours in you body that hasn't gotten to your blood system
I have on a 100 patch and get a percocet every 4 hours: muscle relaxer and another pain medication every 8 hours,

Re: timster (# 8)
4 days = 96 hours. The foil package containing the 100 mcg/hr patch states that each contains 10.20 mg of fentanyl which corresponds to 4 days & 6 hours at 100 mcg/hr.
Re: Missy (# 7)
were you changing the sights where you put the patches this happens if you use the same spot relularly
USA regulations, just as bad as Germany. They do surprise audits of patients private medical records & threaten doctors. Pharmacies automatically have to post the drug dispensation to a secret gov't database called CURES. Everyone is considered druggies just bcs they need opioids in order to function. Every time a celebrity dies of a OD, the media gets hysterical, publishes hyperbole & gov't pass "feel good laws" my term. The only ones who feel good are the law makers, not the people who need it. Those who can't get pain relief commit suicide, but no one publishes their statistics. Brand new world!
In NJ the law for Medical Cannabis does not include Chronic pain of multiple origin. My sons give Medical Cannabis to me like a criminal. I use Fent 100 4 oxy to 6 oxy 10 mg XR daily. You all are in my boat. I flew to CO. spent a 2 week trial on marijuana, different strains, it works. I would swear to Gov. Christie and have 3 x but he wont change s****... He is ignorant of medical techniques and pain as for me I am screwed tight, but I write my legislators al 50 states and Its our only hope to decrease our narcotics to me like ironc need and get rid of the ...oh how can you do fent i****s out there. PS my doc told me that issues with the patch sticking run across all brands. He recommends the 48 hour switch as mandatory year round. I have tried every brand and Par sticks to me like glue to paper, but always find 2 patches every 6 months if you take oxys by skimping a patch a day a bearing one on oxy, put the unused patch hermetically sealed for when your are SOL!!! in takes 12 - 10 oxy XRs to equal a 100 mcg patch for one day do it you"ll not regret. PLEASE write Christie and tell him the presidency is a unrecognizable possibility for an ignorant fool. Thanks to all my sisters and Brothers fightin for a life that means something to them and no one else gets that truly!
I live in Michigan and have a legal card,but my pain doctor won't allow me to use both. The dea and government have are making it hard for doctors to treat pain. I have numerous chronic pain issues and he has lowered one of my meds twice and my sleep med once, I can no longer get much sleep. I have been looking for a new pain doctor with no luck, so until I can I am stuck with getting under treated for my conditions.
Thanks for the update timster. I find it very interesting how each State is "working the books" so to speak, in their own unique way. But for all I know doctors in California could also be turning their heads the other direction when it comes to results as well, or just ignoring certain laws altogether (how long that will last, I can't say, though it has been going on for several years at least). The odd part is that MMJ dispensaries don't have to hide from the DEA, yet doctors still have to face this invisible pressure of their presence. I guess only time itself will sort things out.
David, honestly I should hve put it a better way, sorry about that. Here in OR, you r right the doctor, I guess could hide, the results, but in our state where it will b recreational. It doesn't matter, the federal goverment, meaning the dea will NOT allow us to hve both. I did alittle work on the web. We have just under 4 million population, the combined total of rx perscriptions was 100 million. Thus that would mean, about 25 rx for, every man, woman, and child in our state
@Timster,
I was living in California at the time I posted that message. Over there, it is solely up to the whit and whim of the doctor to decide if he/she wishes to allow their patients adjunctive use of medical marijuana. To say that "I don't know what I'm talking about" is just a reflection saying that the doctor doesn't know what he is talking about…otherwise he wouldn't be allowing marijuana patients in his practice. I would say that if your current doctor isn't compliant about the use of MMJ, maybe you just need to change doctors?
Re: Federal law, MMJ is still illegal in all states, but they obviously aren't enforcing this law to the degree that would inhibit pain patients and recreational users alike from obtaining MMJ, since it's readily available on nearly every corner shop in Los Angeles. If you don't believe me, you could take a trip there and see for yourself. There aren't any feds blocking the door ways or harassing patients… just saying.
And yes maybe doctors do have the right to drop you as a patient if you're using MMJ, but are they? Not ALL of them… In fact, from what I understand... a good number of physicians in States that have decriminalized it, actually encourage it's use over taking additional narcotic pain meds. I would guess that the vast majority of doctors haven't bought into this as they don't get commissions from referring patients to MMJ. A lot of their money comes from repping for big pharma, so why would any of those money hungry docs want to loose out on their commission? Maybe that's another discussion, but all I'm really saying is that each and every doctor has their own morals that they stand by. The argument of it being illegal goes against all the States that have decriminalized it; who all seem to be doing just fine without federal intervention?
David, may I ask what state, or country you live in. You can ask anyone, and I do mean anyone. She would have to sign a pain contract, and not only agree to a drug panel at anytime. Also wether you have a medical marijuana card, YOU are not allowed to use marijuana, in fact they can drop you from all pain meds if you show thc in the drug panel. Either your doc is not following federal law, And this is not meant to be mean, you do not know what your talking about!!
Ron, your right about the information on the patch. May I ask who told you that they last 4 days. Being on it for years, the doctor, the pharmacist, and the company said it was only good for 72hrs. Further, for a lot of people, have to change it every 48hrs. If you read other comments, you will see just how many people, get the severe pain back after 48hrs. Medicare who doesn't like paying for much will pay if your doctot says it needs to b chaned sooner! My ? Is if the patch is so strong, why does a good doc give an average of 4 pills for the break through pain? Does any medical person answer this for me??
Hey everybody,i have a opioids career for quite some time and i have to deal with stupid regulations from Germany bc i'm German.Believe me it is no fun!
I fight a withdrawel right the second from getting off of Buprenorphin/Norspan to Fentanyl.Both patches.I loved the Norspan bc it covered 90% of my pain but all the sudden i had redness and wet blisters under the patch and had to take it of quickly!
So i was given Fentanyl and just Morphin Tablets like Paladon or oral Morphin is left to try,everything else on opioids i already had and don't want to go back to.Well i put Fentanyl Patch on shortly after i got ridd of the Norspan Patch and it is the 7. day now with Fentanyl and i am still in withdrawel!
Tomorrow i was supposed to change it again,but my feeling is,they gave me to less mgs,so i put the next one on right now bc i am in withdrawel since 7 days now and i am done... And if we could apply for THC,i would be the first there to get the natural treatment, but the regulations in Germany just allow cancer patients and people with MS to apply for.and just and only if nothing else can help you,than u have a chance to get a prescription! More people die of the side effects of their medications than on the deseas itself! I am 100% disabled,got my early pension since September and had to fight years over years to be able to get opioids finally,nothing else covers my chronic pain and a bunch of different deseas.Hope you all get well soon!
I posted a reply and it was not posted. I did not mean the herb you mentioned. Taking some herb bought in the mall , or 'eastern philosophy ' WILL NOT have any effect on your pain. I have 3 spine surgeries , a autoimmune disease that is progressive and untreatable. I have a 100 fentanal patch, take a 10-325 percoset every 4 hours. , baclofin , gabapentin (every 8 hours) and a sleeping pill( doesn't work. I was in my house with a caregiver until a couple of months ago. I am in a nursing home now. Everyone on my wing can only get what is served up by the institutions dr . Narcotics or nothing . Grandsons can't bring a doobie in for pops
I was not talking about marijuana. I have 8 vertabre replaced through fusion surguery. I also have a terrible autoimmune disease that is progressive, very painful and untreatable . I refer to it as a dirt disease. As it puts you in the dirt. I just went from my house to nursing home2 months ago. 27 people on my wing only have one option. Narcotics. Smoke help my break through pain when I was home. That option is gone. If people have a sourse, it will help. I am referring to comments from people that are talking about health store 'herbs' if they work on chronic pain, tell me what they are
@Ron,
Perhaps only narcotics will work for you. But for those who wish to try other alternatives for adjunctive therapy, why not be open to using something (such as medical marijuana CBD/THC concentrates)?
It's been proven in many cases to help chronic pain patients not rely so heavily on one treatment option to get them through the day. Adjunctive therapy like this could also help many patients maintain their tolerance in the long run, without feeling like they have to keep upping the dose every so often.
There's nothing to kid about that. You can go do the research for yourself and come back with the same information I found. Other people on this site have had success with it as well. So I don't just get my knowledge from research alone. My mother of 56 who has degenerative disk disease, and several neck surgeries, was also able to cut down on her oxycodone and lyrica by supplementing with cannabis. Go figure.
You must be kidding. Herbal solution?
Only narcotic pain medication will work.
Doctors have been scared to the point of not even giving adequate pain medication to people who suffer from chronic pain. Just what pain medication do you take?
Hi Ron,
Thanks for sharing your input on the Fentanyl patches. I agree that seeking advice from a mental health specialist would certainly be wise if you're going through withdrawals, but I'd say it's also equally important to contact your doctor as soon as possible to help remedy the situation. If you're not using your fentanyl patch exactly as prescribed, it's likely that you'll just keep running into withdrawal problems come time for a refill.
I'd also encourage these patients who are more prone to running out early, to talk with their doctor about certain alternatives they can use as a means of adjunctive therapy alongside Fentanyl. Sometimes this may encompass various herbal solutions and/or different types of eastern medicine practices.
I hope this helps!
If you are having withdrawal symptoms after taking off a 12.5 patch, see a mental health specialist. Everyone here, please go to the web and search on the drugs you are taking, come back here and help people
