Fentanyl Withdrawal Symptoms (Page 43) (Top voted first)

I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more.

Angel, Ty for the encouraging words. One of the 2 nerve blocks did work but my 3rd unfixed disc being the last in line is also too far out to be manupliated back in. He said after my previous discoectomy that he couldn't believe it because outa all the ppl that have had done what I did only 12 ppl in 10 years experience what happened to me. So worst than worst case scenario. He doesn't speak laymen (sp ck?) terms very well but I got the just of things. I wish I could show you my MRI and pics if my nerve block procedures. Nanny is good try to get my email from her. I BALLED today so discouraged. Enough about me. And my mouth dropped too when I heard the second comMing of Christ I quoted. It was me being a horrible Sunday Christian. I apologize. I think that was rude of me. I remember first hearing it and was.., never mind. I hope you all sleep pain free and well.

Remember you are talking to a chick who laid in agony this past winter waiting for a hip replacement. There were some days I was really glad my husband doesn't own a gun. It was beyond pain to agony, hon.

But here I am pain free from that.

Remember and have faith that miracles happen. I'm not just blowing smoke.

I looked up discectomy. It was used in "Degenerative Disc Disorder".
Is this your problem?

WOW! The pain symptoms are huge and awful, hon.

It kept repeating " the condition is chronically and significantly painful and can greatly affect the quality of one's life. " sounds like an understatement !!!

There were 12 other surgical or treatment options listed on Wikipedia for a disc like yours. Take a look.

Have you ever thought of going up to Mayo for a second opinion ??

Angel.......I just read the "great points" post that you posted and, all I can say is WOW.....I loved every word it said and gave new meaning to how I perceive my body and how I will learn to take care of my body like the points said. I never looked at a body and life like that before, and to tell you the truth, I should because I was taught as a child that your body is Gods Holy Temple. It was never put in plain english quite like this before and I am one that has to have plain english. I went right after I read it and copied it and printed out on notepad. It's 3:22 am and I'm wide awake after I read that. I need that book and I will not quit searching untill I find it. Thank you so much......again thank you...

I have been reading all your posts.

You are a very strong woman !! I feel you speak negatively about yourself way too much. Every word that comes out of our mouths, our own brain processes as truth. For instance, as a model, we were taught to only say superlative things ("You're stunning, one in a million, beauty is your name, etc. ) it's positive speak for the brain and IT WORKED. Imagine being a little town girl and then suddenly you have to walk nearly naked down the runways of Italy in 3 months.

I can tell you it's the same now. I just had a total right hip replacement 5 weeks ago. In 10 days I was walking steps and wearing my beloved high heels. How? I work after surgery and "told" my new hip I loved it, it belonged and all I asked is that it help me to dance again....a thing I love and had not been able to do for 14 months (this is code for another thing I love, if you catch my drift. LOL)
It worked, NN!

Angel, yea I'm hard on my self sometimes and I know I shouldn't be because I haven't told all of my story on here. But when others that you live with are hard on you, it's hard not to pick up on their way of thinking. My daughter accused me of being bi-polor. When I have plenty of meds I'm up and when I don't I'm down so yes, I am a drug induced bi-polor person. But you are so right about being hard on myself. I have gotten myself in a heck of a mess now and I am fixen to get it streightened out. I am strong willed and I can do this, I just have to convence myself of it....lol And is you code have anything to do with exotic, by any chance? I don't judge so what ever you want to do in life and love it, I say --go for it, girl......I wish I could do it....Thank you for your share, I know sometimes it gets hard to open up about thing to people, it is for me. I have trust issues after what I have been through with that doctor raping me so many times. Well, I want to eat a little and then I'm going to try to lay down and sleep a little tonight. Hi All, I see a couple of you have comeback after a break and I remember you all. The newbies, welcome and thanks not only for the encouragement but also the questions that most of us have personal experiences with to share and hopefully help with. Angel, I think it was you that said model's tell each other positive things to keep on track. I heard if you can fake a smile on a horrible day it tricks the brain into actually believing you are happy. I've tried it a few times while fit to be tied, usually while driving. Didn't work. Lol 😠I guess I'm not a good enough actress to fool myself. Nanny, and correct me if I'm wrong but I think Angel is missing a much loved SEX? Drive / Life? If I'm correct, lucky you as im too grumpy from the PAIN. Wish I was gay then... Whatever, I'm sooo not. Lol
Smiles Away and Good Luck with getting off "lol" this drug and resuming to normal. I find it hard to even pee somedays because of it. Tmi? Lol sorry, Sad But True! I know EWE, but we do tell more in here as Its easier to tell all to strangers, except that ONE close friend that has proven to be able to hold her own. Let's set my record straight!! LOL

I ADORE SEX. But the antidepressant can on occasion ruin the moment. I get there but not like the old days. I have a lover with a slow hand.

Great news today! I sleep on a water bed which is a "No-No" with Fentanyl. The heat from the bed releases more drug into your system. So I put the patch on my thigh. Huge difference !!!! I was out of bed by 9, doing my laundry, making calls, creating tons of jewelry for the show and made dinner.

This is behavior I haven't done in one day for over a YEAR!! I am proud and shocked.

Truly tired tonight. Just might sleep.

Angel, that is no small feat! Good for you! I've been flat on my back most of the week. :( can't sleep either and it's to late to take a sleeping pill. But I did get some dusting done! I have to wear my patch on my shoulder as I ice my lower back or heat when driving. I have few places I can put it too as my menopause will sweat it off on some spots. Never thought of my thigh. As long as I'm not flexing, bending or using the muscle I may try it! Thanks for the tip.as for a boyfriend ? Some day.... Sleep well

Hang in there girls, you are all super strong. After reading your posts I had too laugh today. I'm a guy and yeah, the pee thing is a mess, I have to sit down now. Sex is a real treat, sometimes it works, most times it doesn't. Also I enjoyed the chemically unique description, love it. Stay positive as best you can. One more thing none of you are bi-polar, when we fell good we are happy, when we feel like crap we are not happy simple as that. Those who do not experience what we do cannot understand that, it is a gift given to us. Aren't we lucky. Good luck to all.

I used to have my patch fall off all the time.

For years now I have worn a Tegrederm Patch over the Fentanyl one. This is an over the counter item. No prescription needed. It is just a thin film which goes over and the thing never moves.

Try it.

Can you shower with it on? I only shower every 3 days so I don't run out. It's a brutal week to wait when suffering from the pain I have. My friends have a pool and I can only go on the days I need to replace it. AND that is if I'm up to it. I'm so sick of this pain. Ty for the tip.

Shannon, hon,
I shower, swim and sit for 30 minutes at a time, sometimes twice daily, in my hot tub.

The Tegrederm size I use for my 75 is 4x4 3/4 inches in size. I believe there are 10 in a pack. They are little miracles. 1) you don't loose patches. 2) water is kept out and air passes through. 3) it's very comfortable 4) You can write on a space and therefore always know when you should change. 4) the edges are clean and don't pick up fuzz. 5) all pharmacies have them

I can't remember who gave me the tip but it was a great one.

I called my doctor and he sent the 50mcg/hr script today. Whoosh , am I scared.

But I am filling it tomorrow. I will wait til after Labor Day to start because of the Art Fair which is physically brutal.

I'm overnighting them now! I'm sick of not bring able to bathe, swim, jacuzzi and menopause sweat for 4? Days. I use wipes to bathe and wash my hair in the sink and it kills my back after 2? Min. Thank you got the tip. My doc n pharm think I'm an addict even though before SI did whatever. So I'm going up to 100 before my sept surgery after healing from my discoectomy a year ago and I yes ME went down to 50 for the last 3 months. My inversion table helps with the nerve pain in my legs but hurts my back. Gtg b4 I fall asleep so I can order them. Obviously these ppl never had spinal cord and back injury pain. I made it ONCE to seven eleven in a month. wITH 76 an pain. Up up and down... Now up again! It's not BS. They know and just don't care. My pharm doesn't have

Shannon, when I was wearing the patch, I also used the tegrederm film over my patches. They are what they put over the IV's when you have to have a IV. They keep the patch in place and helps so much. I even showered and swim with them. Of course, keep a watch on them and replace when needed and good luck.. Also, you do what you have to do to get things done and don't worry about the drug store people. If they say anything take your business elsewere. They are not suppose to pass judgement on what the doctor gives you. My druggest is the best. He does caution me on some things but only out of concern. He knows everything I have been through, this IS a small town though...hugs and kisses to all....

Oh yeah, my druggest told me that I was only addicted when I abused my meds not when I was just dependent on them.....hope this makes you feel a little better about them...

It's just this one 21 yr old brat. Also wow does 25 more help! I couldn't even walk. I'll shower in 2? Days as I got the amazon 2 day delivery of exact what she said. But mine is 100 now. My surgery is sept 14th yay or boo. 3 months of relief and back on the table less than a year later. Oh ya. Now I have Lynch syndrome. Lol. Mom died in 99 aunts got it and other and last has tumor so she may make it. These lemons are starting to taste sour as I'm all out of sugar. My kids are scared. I'm only going to get the lubed up tube for them. I'm not treating! I told my youngest when she comes home for Xmas I my gift to her will be my results and get her ck'd Me not having it would be a 1 in 5. Gma died from Colon cancer too. So all 4 women and then there is me. I'm ok. I really don't care. I just laugh now.

Your physical withdrawl will last no more than 12 to 14 days. Depending on how long you were on the medication, the psycological aspect of the withdrawls can last indefinetly.

Can you explain more what you mean by this post??

The physical challenge of having less Fentanyl in my body is frustrating at its best and horrible at its worst. I have bouts of sweats that leave me drenched and itchy; insomnia that ruins my face, my thoughts, my mood....you name it; food is tasteless and hurts anyway so I get some tremors; when I laid down to rest there wasn't one thing in my body that did not hurt from my throbbing tooth to my arthritic toes.

I'll handle it as it slowly lowers because there is an end to think about.....hope for.

But what is this about lingering psychological issues??
