Fentanyl Withdrawal Symptoms (Page 38) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more.
was that to me Shannon? I am just afraid.. My patches work half the time... and right now i'm in more pain then not... its difficult... i actually change my patch every 2 days, 48hrs..
Hi Ang,
I'm do sorry you're going through so much at such a young age. This may make you a stronger person once you find the right medication for you.
I was on the patch a little over a year and on a much higher doeaage than you. It's a wicked drug and not good for everyone.
The withdrawals are tough to deal with but it's managable. If I can do it anyone can. I hate feeling out of control and being in pain but the patch was helpful at first then my body was dependent on it and I started feeling like I was useless and I didn't want to live anymore.
What helped me was watching positive shows on television. hgtv and the dyi network became my shows of choice :)
It takes time to get it out of your system. Please be patient. Don't be afraid or scared. We ( I mean all of us on this site) been through what you're going through.
Hang in there my friend. :)
Haven't got much to say today, in a deep depression and not having a good time with it. Maybe tomorrow it will all change. I don't like going through this for so many days, it gets to where I can't even stand myself. I wish I could figure out what is wrong with me with the feelings that I have...very distructful, like something bad is fixen to happen.
Oh nuttynanny, we must be twins. I feel like that a lot. I'm on cymbalta 120 mg. The next drug for me will put me in the looney house. Although, that might be a bad place to be. At least I won't be the craziest one there. :)
Can u exercise? I've been told that helps, it difficult foe me because of my chronic arthritis that I've developed but my doctor said it will help me so I'm trying it. I'm the only guy at the gym crying when I try to do sit ups.
Perhaps a walk will help clear your mind. Maybe walking From california to new York. I'll be right behind you, in my car.
Hang in there, rent a good book or watch a dirty movie.
My email was removed? From this site. Anyone else has that happen to them?
Hi Ang, yes it was me and sounds like with the pain your in you better not do what I said then. The pain we felt that had us put on it to begin with it almost as bad as the pain from the withdrawal we feel. I pray you will feel better. I'm ready to head down again too. :-0 Scary!
Good Morning lol Et,, Nutt, Ang and all,
Just checking in to make sure your all alive and well would Definitly be pushing it, as if we were more than "ok" we wouldn't all be in here!
Have a beautiful day!
Me
Etienne, Your no fun....(I would be riding with you so I think that "walk" would do no good...lol) I hate to say it but I'm too lazy to exercise. When I do just a little exercise, I'm so sore that I have to take a few days off to get over the sorness. I did mow three yards Saturday, One small one, one med. size one and one that is a city block long. The long one was really easier than the others because it is all flat ground with no borders or flower beds to work around. The others are on a steep hill loaded with giant boulders, and that's hard to work around. My grandson (18) helped me, he's so sweet. That, my dear friend, along with the house work, consist of my exercise. Hope you are doing better....Have a good one, all...
Hi all,
Nuttynanny, cutting grass is also exercise. It's important that ALL of us on this site do some form of exercise if you can. I'm starting to mentally feel better since I've been walking more. Had anyone noticed that when you spend more time alone you think about every pain on your body? I do. I sound like I'm pitching a commercial.
Anyhow, try doing something different foe one week and see how you feel. Is anyone gonna try it with me?
Then write back. I know I need a change in my life.
I have asked before but nobody has replied. I would like to know how long the painful lower pelvic cramps and backache lasts for because I stopped taking all meds a month ago and it seems like it is getting worse not better can someone please send me a message or answer this because I feel like I can't take much more of this. I was on 200 fentanyl and weaned down to 100 and quit cold turkey from there and the only thing that saved me from the restlessness that people talk about is that I have restless legs syndrome so I was already taking something for that but I would appreciate any advice from people on this forum,
Thank-you
Too long,
I replied to you on 4/26. Know-one can give you an exact date. You were on a high dosage at first. Just because you went to 100 then stopped doesn't mean the 200 mg is out of your system. It will take you longer.
Give it a good 2-3 more months.
Hopefully, others will reply as well.
too long:: The higher the amount and the longer you had used the patch the longer you will be in withdrawals. The med in the patch is absorbed in the fatty tissue of your body and it takes a long time for it to desolve out of the fat, or that is what my addiction doctor informed my a week ago. I was just on 75mcg for a little over a year but I was also taking other pain meds with them. It has been nearly 3 months that I wore my last patch but I have had other stuff in my system so I can't really tell you I am completely over the patch. The doc said that I will still go through some things that will make me uncomfortable. Hell, that means I am still in withdrawals as far as I'm concerned. The only thing I do know is that I hurt worse now than I did before I started using the patch and if a doc ever comes at me with a script of patches it will be hell to pay for them cause I will hit them right between the eyes (and go to jail doing it with a smile on my face). This is the worse, evilist, degrading, disrespectful drug I have ever done, and that is the way it made me fill at times. Good luck and the worse is nearly over with so hang in there and please don't give up....We care....
Nuttynanny, tell me how u really feel about patches :)
sorry....feel not fill....lol...
Etienne...How I really feel about patches??? Well, don't get me wrong, in a way I loved them and how they made me feel no pain. But, I had a lot of bad experiences with them too. I would have to be honest and say that only God knows how I really feel about them. He was the one that helped me the most when I was coming off them. And He will be the one that will help me stay off them. Never again will I use a patch, maybe other stuff but never a patch. Never, never, never, hell no, not even a chance....NO. And that's the rest of the story....lol Etienne, How do you really feel about them? :)......(maybe if you paid me a million dollars, I might)lol
I'm with u nuttynanny. If a doctor asks me to try another patch I'm going to leave my religion outside the doctors office and probably meet you in prison :)
It takes a lot of will power to get this demon out of your system. I keep telling others, ad yourself, to be patient.
There's not a lot that can be done except add more
Drugs on top of drugs and that's not good.
Keep the faith, future cell mate :)
Going outside and doing any kind of physical activity will help, it will also help with any kind of anxiety or depression you may also be feeling. Don't go into it thinking you will have miraculous results, but you should notice a change for the better. I also read about listening to music that you like, mentally this will help, it did with me. the key is listen to a song or songs that you like, it isn't so much the type of music, it just has to be music YOU like. Again these aren't quick response and super awsome cures, but it helps, and if you feel the way I do, any little bit helps. keep at it and don't give up, I am still using my patches but I am working on reducing the intake. Stay strong, these are tough battles, but you can win.
Thanks for the support weeler. I feel a lot better now that I'm exercising. I'm not doing much but it takes my mind off my ailments for a while. I'll take any relief I can get. I'm walking every day with a bad back and arthritis and mentally I feel better. Even though I was told physically I'll never recover I will do what I have to to feel better.
So please you guys try something. Weeler makes a lot
of sense.
It has been more than a month since I quit the fentanyl among other opiates and I still have severe cramps and backache. I went to the docs and he gave me cesamet. What a nob I was so stoned I just wanted to sit around. Anyone else's cramps last so long?????????????
Etienne I was hoping for a shorter period of time than that but thanks, I am suppose to be going into a program and it might take a few more weeks, Do you think some tylenol 3 would help or make it worse?
