Fentanyl Withdrawal Symptoms (Page 28) (Top voted first)

I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more.

i'am off the fentanyl patch 25mg now for 8 days cold turkey, but my stomach is not accepting the withdrawls, but i'am paining through this, don't want that patch back on me. sleep what's that, does anyone know when i will be back to normal sleep. i tried talking to my husband he says that's not withdrawls , but i know it is. so i'am doing this all alone. my bowels keep backing up, it's all good it will be over soon.

I hate what you guys are going through but I'm going through the same withdrawals except I have a weird smell coming from my pores and now I have diarrhea. I constantly feel like my heart is racing and at the same time I'm tired and can't sleep. It's been 9 days sine I put on my last patch and I don't like to be dependent on drugs. I've had 4 back surgeries and I'm in so much pain although the patch helped a little my life went to hell. I slept all day and I had zero energy.
I don't know u guys but I'm glad we are going through this together. Hang in there. I will too.
I've been reading it takes 2-3 weeks to get it out of your system. Some days I feel worse than the next but I don't like the zombie feeling of this drug.

Hi. I know withdrawals too, even when I forget to put my new patch(75mcg) on, what you're experiencing certainly is withdrawal symptoms. Ok, the blocking of your bowels will definitely be helped by self doing reflexology( my hubby has codeine & is blocked, I do the part of foot corresponding to bowels)it will help you in less than an hour. You need to look online and get a foot chart up, also you tube shows self massage on the bowel area on the chart. This should help so much, hubby took alsorts to unblock him, nothing worked inside of 3 days , I do his feet and almost as soon as I finish, he's off to the toilet. When I wean myself off, I'm going to also do reflexology relating to the stomach for anxiety, the other parts also for different things I will experience. I feel like I have flu and have hot n cold sweats and have to stretch my bones all the time, and this is only 1 day after I forgot to stick my regular patch on. I'm going to allow myself 6 mths, and not go cold turkey.hope the reflexology tips help a little. Linda

Can you tell me how long it took for the withdrawals to stop completely when you went off Fentanyl cold turkey?
I am on day 5 and STILL it's hell. not subsiding at all... When will it end? I still refuse to go back on this bad stuff. i wish i'd never started on Fentanyl and would advice everyone to stay away from this crap. it's dangerous and horrible!

I was only on the patches for a few monts so coming off of them was easy for me. I prepared for the worst with every kind of juice, crackers, protein shakes and I really didnt feel bad at all, just a little restless for a few days. I took Melatonin 5mg one night to sleep and when I woke up, I didn't even know where I was at, whose bed I was in or nothing. Needless to say, I never took another one of those!

Was on 12.5 quit 12 days ago crawly,skin can't be still
I stay in the shower a lot. Have heavy sweats if happen to go to sleep. Human touch also calms

Mary yes you are going thru withdrawl you need colonapine it is a blood pressure pill and it is used for withdrawl too or and some valium or zanax but try to stay away from the zanax if you can because that is really hard to wean off of clonodine is the best it take away the nearvous and the rocking i am weening off too

IM A 33 YEAR OLD MAN WITH SERVER PSORIATIC ARTHRITIS .MOSTLY IN MY FEET AND LEGS AND I HAVE BEEN IN TERRIBLE PAIN FOR OVER 12 YEARS .FROM DOCTOR TOO DOCTOR GETTING MISDIAGNOSED OVER & OVER AGAIN UNTIL I WAS FINELY WAS TOLD MY CONDITION AROUND 24.
SENCE THEN I HAVE BEEN PRESCRIBED SO MANY DIFFRENT PILLS I CANT NAME THEM ALL.SOME MADE ME MAD ,SOME MADE ME SHAKE ,SOME MADE ME ITCH,VOMIT,CRY ,WANT TO DIE,SLEEP,CANT SLEEP ,EAT CANT EAT ,PALE ,QUITE,SAD,SICK AND SO ON .NONE IN WITCH TOOK ANY PAIN AWAY .

I have been off the patch for thirteen months and I still can sleep no more than about four hours a night and that is with Valium and vicodin and excederin pm and melatonin. In my vast research I have learned it can take up to two years for your body to reset itself. The length of time has to do with the dosage and how long you were on the drug. Your body slowly adjusts to little sleep. Good luck.

I GOT OFF FENTANYL, AND I DID IT WITH SUBOXONE. I DID ONE OF THE SUBOXONE STRIPS A DAY FOR (5) DAYS AND IT WAS OVER! THEY ARE A WONDER DRUG FOR THIS.

Reduce your patch in steps, slow ones. I was on fentanyl for 13 years, the last 6 years were 225 mcg every 36 hours. I reduced down to 12 1/2 mcg and then nothing. This is the scary part what you will go through when going off the patch is much worse than the pain you will feel afterward. Don't stop the medical marijuana it was my life saver. Going off this drug was the worst I have been through, and I have had 28 surgeries. Would I do it again, YES!!! Even though my pain is back so is my mind, and my fire and no more horrible side effects. I to thought I could not do without my fentanyl patches. I have learned to cope with my pain to have some freedom in my life. I wish you ball the luck in the world and if I can help I will answer all your questions with brutal honesty. I have off my patch for 13 months and would never go back. The longer you are on the drug the higher the dose, the higher the dose the more damage done to many of your body parts. Time passes but the memory I still quite sharp.

hey everyone that has shared thier story of getting off the fentanyl patches. I have been in withdrawal for about 4 days and was on 75 mg for about 9 months. So far i have been taking oxycodone 15mg IV (that is in the vien) about 12 times a day by myself, and I know that i'm not suppose to be shooting the oxy's but this is the only way to me getting relief. Can anyone be honest enough to relate to the problem i have created for myself? I have withdrawal from the patches even through the oxy's. I cannot sleep much, 2-3 hours a night untill i wear myself out and crash after 5 or 6 nights of doing this, also i have some nausa and very much tiredness. I used to be a drug addict 24 years ago and have come off drugs before and don't remember what it was like when i did. Some of it is coming back to me now but i still don't know what it's like with these patches. I have never been on these before and from what i'm reading this is not going to be a very nice thing to go through but i'm so ready to quit these and the oxy's. I have about 40, 15mg of the oxy's left and I don't know how to decrease them so I won't have much side effects from coming off this stuff. Can anyone help me?

Man thats murder what those uneducation doctors know about any thing.answer,mostly nothing.here do a pill.s*** pain sucks but when you have all it taken away and then slap you when your down and then too kick ya,that could kill ya,thats cruel and down hearted.thats not the america that the soldiers died for in ww2 against hitler.the gov is a**es.weed was legal in the 30s and 90% of medications were weed oil.S*** everyone smoked it in politics for different ailments.im in canada and the laws are lax but the gov needs to step up to the plate and amit that they are wrong and marijuana is actually very benificial and earth friendly in every way.it will happen but in the mean time the reason that i read your read was s*** like that usually happens to me and has.God be with you all the way and just i dont know what too say.Bad Luck man just like me..s*** s*** s***.D.J.

Unfortunately this will be very bad and there is no easy answer. Fentanyl is the hardest drug to go off of. I still have problems and I have been off for thirteen months. Good luck you shall need it.

I have been decreasing my fentenyl patch dosage recently from 75 mcg to 50 mcg to now 25 mcg, each for 1 week. I have horrible chills and sweats. Aches and pains and sleeplessness. I am on the next to last 25 mcg patch but have decided to just leave this patch on and not use the next patch. What can go wrong if I just stop now?

I'm Fentanyl free for six days now. The past 48 hours was not pleasant, but not as bad as a month ago when I went from 75 to 50. That was the worst withdrawals. After going down to 25, I decided I'd had enough. My pharmacist told me the patches he was giving me could be cut smaller to help me wean off of them - this pharmacist has been through it all with me and we had a LONG talk first. I used a 25, then cut a sliver off the next and then the next. Then I lost patience and cut it in half and thus the withdrawals began. So I cut it in a quarter the next day and then into an eighth the next - changing it daily because of my lack of patience. I figured if I was gonna have withdrawals, I wasn't going to have anymore. So I just stopped. This is not something I recommend to anyone to do on your own. I had worked with my doctor to get down to the 25 and I stayed in communication with my doctor and pharmacist.
I had surgery in November, but my insurance company made me jump through hoops to qualify for the surgery, trying other treatments first.. thus prolonging the time I was in pain a couple extra months. This is the whole reason I was put on the patches to begin with. To get me through the hoops. I blame my insurance company and the doctors at the pain clinic that wanted to do injections even though they told me I'd need surgery soon after. I was just a payday. My primary doctor is never sending anyone there again, trust me.
I want this poison out of my body now. This is evil stuff.

Just be patient. It takes a while to get that crap out of your system. I went through a lot and was determined not to use it anymore. It affects people differently but I went through the same symptom you are having. I felt like I was on a roller coaster. I was antsy, couldn't sit still, couldn't sleep, I felt like i had butterflies in my stomach and I had diahrea. I kept counting the days and looking for any signs that I was getting better. It took me about a 4 weeks to feel 90 percent and about 2 more weeks to feel 100 percent. I still have a lot of back pain but the side edicts of that patch made me feel worse.
Hang in there my friend and just take deep breaths and be patient. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

hi i have been on 187.5 mcg fentanyl patch every 48 hours and have been on the patches for 3 years and was wondering how long it took you to wean yourself off? I am freaking out about this after reading all the horror stories. I am done with these patches. i am ready to start the weaning process and I think i was thinking that it would happen alot faster then it really will, can you give me some info on how you came off. any help would be so gratefully appreciated. i have a family that needs me. my daughter is 10 years old so i don't want her to see me going through these horrible withdrawl symptoms, what do i do? i am asking you because you have been one of the only posts that i have seen that has been on such a high dose, thanalot for ANY help
