The 100mcg Fentanyl patches are actually the strongest narcotic analgesic on the market, it's over 80 times stronger than Morphine.
Learn more Fentanyl details here.
What other medications have you tried?
How long do you wear each patch?
Fentanyl should NEVER be used for osteo pain. It works on nerve pain but I've never know it to work on knee replacement, etc. 100 mcg/hr is the MAXIMUM dose. Any more than that can be FATAL.
I'm not a physician, but I'd recommend Naproxin 500 mg twice a day. It is the active ingredient in Alieve BUT it is the prescription strength and is cheaper than any other drug I've found that works.
Fentanyl should NEVER be used for short-term pain, it's on the patient instruction sheet. READ THE DIRECTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are several people at my pain center on 200 plus mcg Fentanyl, and they sure look good for fatalities. I don't understand why people insist on declaring untruths. Either way Fent is nothing to scoff at. It's some serious s***.
Fentanyl patches work great for osteo pain! I don't know who is saying it doesn't, because that's bunk. Now, maybe the definition of osteo pain is being misunderstood? I am prescribed 75mcg for osteo pain - chronic arthritis and degenerative joint disease and in my spine too. (Post surgerical injuries to spine) The pain is in all my joints, but especially my neck, back, knees, shoulders and feet. It's constant pain, though fluctuates with activity. Still, it's always there. These patches are the only thing that help me live as normal a life as I possibly can!
I do not use these patches to try and make myself feel high. In fact, I don't even think they DO make me high. On occassion when I get overheated the medicine will go absorb into my skin much too fast and I become flushed and nauseated...feel horrible. I have to remove the patch quickly. So please be careful not to allow yourself to get too heated while you have the patch on, it can kill you.
But, on that note: when the patch DOES get heated and flow too heavily into your system, it reduces the length of time that patch will last. These patches generally do not last 72 hours for me. Sometimes they do - but mostly not. I have to change my patch anywhere between 2 to 12 hours early due to pain. I can telll when the patch is wearing off because the pain will return with a vengeance and sometimes even withdrawals. And yes, the withdrawals are horrible. But....I like the patches much better than oxycontin or other pills. Just be safe out there. AND NEVER GIVE THEM AWAY TO SOMEONE ELSE FOR THEIR PAIN!!!
Hi, I am on 150mg fentanyl patches and I am still here, I have had a total knee replacement and it did help me, I have also had spinal fusion between L5 and S1 and if I didn't have the patches I wouldn't be able to even get out of bed.

I use the 100mcg fentanyl if you're having such bad withdrawals. I wonder what brand you're using? I use the Mylan brand and eventhough after 2 yrs I've been using them I feel it fading away maybe 5 to 10 hrs before is due but my withdrawals are not that bad. My suggestion to you is the last day you have to change it don't go by the time you put it on wakeup early and change it. Another thing I do is take a hot shower then stim up the bathroom so your body temperature goes up. I keep my body heat I don't care if Im sweating with my sweats on but it works for me.
Sir, you are on 100 MCG (micrograms) which is a huge difference from 100 mgs. 100 mgs will kill you. A 100 MCG/h is a high dose, but remember these meds can't relieve all the pain; they usually handle 30-40 percent. Don't expect more than that. You should have been given a NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory) agent along with this. If you haven't had any surgery and don't have any blood conditions, try no more than two aspirin or better yet Advil which is a week NSAID. Do this until you talk to your doctor, but do that. Ask why you're not on a NSAID and ask to be put on say Naproxen. I'd go easy on the patches as it sounds like you have been on opiate based meds for a while or you wouldn't get 100 MCG. Remember, going up is easy but coming down is a lot harder.
Be well,
