I was prescribed fibrovas about 4 years back and still continuing it taking it on alternate days. Now my cholesterol is 171 mg with LDL at 115 mg. But my concern is its side effects taking it for long term. My age is 54 years. Will I have to take for rest of my life. ## Fibrovase contains the active ingredients Atorvastain and Fenofibrate, it is most commonly used to help lower cholesterol. All medications carry certain risks with long-term use and with the Statin class, they usually start after they have been used for 1 to 2 years. These effects may include: Loss of bone density, painful nighttime leg cramps that may interfere with sleep and decreased liver function, which can also lead to reduce alcohol tolerance, since it is no long...
4 REPLIES UpdatedI have been having high cholesterol level reported now and having fluctuation lipid profile report every three months and i was taking finehart tabs on docs advise as a single dose till now, my doctor have now prescribed me to take finehart tablets of double dose every day.Does it harm in anyways to my other body functions, and what would be the side effects of this medicine. I do not have any other diseases. ## Finehart is listed as containing Fenofibrate and Atorvastatin, both of which are used to help lower cholesterol levels. Taking a higher dosage may cause you to experience more side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. 1 REPLY UpdatedI am on fenofibrate 54 mg 1x a day and my dr wants me to increase to a larger dose. Can this be taken 2x a day until I use up my 90 day supply and then go to the next highest dose of 160mg? ## I'd suggest checking with your doctor or pharmacist, since 2 of them will still not equal the amount of the new dosage. What has your doctor advised? An increase in dosage could cause you to experience more side effects, which may include: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and skin reactions. ## I am also on fenofibrate 54 mg 1x a day my dr wants me to increase to a larger dose can this be taken 2 x a day. Can the fenofibrate 54 mg tabs be doubled up like this per day? Why didn't he just order a one tab of 108 mg? Instead of me taking two tabs of 54 mg each??
2 REPLIES UpdatedI have taken cholestrimine for years. Dr. prescribed fenofibrate about 3 months ago. No one told me not to take them at the same time. I already take omniprazole in the morning. Has anyone else had these symptoms? I have pain at night that feels like it could be my esophagus. I also break out in a sweat sometimes and have had horrible headaches that I thought were sinus related but it has gone on for over a month. ## Based on my research, there are interactions between these two medications. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Taking the fenofibrate and cholestyramine doses too close together may interfere with the absorption of fenofibrate and reduce its effectiveness. To prevent or minimize the interaction, fenofibrate should be taken at least 1 hour before o...
1 REPLY UpdatedI suffer from alcoholic fatty liver. I no longer drink as of 1 month. my enzynes are now normal. my doctor percribed 160mg of fenofibrate. for high triglycerides( currently at 210) I have been taking for 9 days but am getting alittle concern. I have been thinking of tossing the meds. any suggestions? ## Hi jack, In my honest opinion, the best way to normalize triglyceride levels/reduce cholesterol is stay on top of your diet. A couple "fruit-only or veggie-only" meals throughout the day would probably have a very significant impact on normalizing pretty much everything; from enzymes, vitamins and minerals, cholesterol, excess fat, any acidity from the alcohol, etc. As you can probably tell, I'm not a big advocate of using prescription drugs, since there are so many natural o...
1 REPLY Updatedcan feofibrates increase my appetite? I find I am always hungry even just after eating. I had a few days when I was late getting my repeat prescription, and had no fenofibrates that my appetite was normal, or is this my imagination? ## Have you discussed it with your doctor? It isn't a listed side effect of Fenofibrate, which is used to help lower cholesterol, but it is very difficult to say how any medication will affect any person that uses it. The normal side effects can include: nausea, dizziness, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Learn more: ## My appetite increased too. Now I have a heartburn type feeling, I've had headaches for the last month, breakthrough bleeding on my periods, and I am very tired. After reading everything that I read today and the side effects that I have e...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI read you should not be taking this if you have Hep B. What are the reason? I was prescribe this drug but my doctor did not inform me about not taking it if one has Hep B! Thank you so much. ## Yes, it is listed as being contraindicated in anyone that has a severe disease that affects their liver, such as Hepatitis B. This is because it is processed through the liver, plus it can increase liver enzymes, both of which could be detrimental to your condition. Learn more Fenofibrate details here. The safest thing to do would be to contact your doctor and ask them to suggest an alternative medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for your input! I will talk to him. Im very disappointed that this doc provided me with this drug known my confition!

I have gall bladder stones measuring 1.1CM and multiple calculi, stones in kidney. will these medicines have any side effects pl suggest me ## What has your doctor advised you to take? The Fenofibrate is commonly used to help lower cholesterol and the Inositol can help break down fats, their side effects may include: nausea, headache, dizziness and joint/muscle aches. 1 REPLY UpdatedThree times I started on Fenofibrate 54 mg and I stopped taking it. I knew the side effect of vertigo was possible. I want to try this drug again BUT I want to know if the vertigo side effect will lessen or subside after time. If so how long does it take for this side effect to go away (If ever). ## best medicine for dizziness due to vertigo ## ML, most such side effects generally last about 4 to 6 weeks, while your body is getting used to the medication. At that same point, they should hit their peak and then start to taper off in severity. Have you talked to your doctor about the issue? And as to the best medication for dizziness and vertigo, there is really no answer to that, because it can vary from person to person. What works well for someone else, may not work for you and vice-ve...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI am regularly taking the medicine Fenofibrate-145 mg for abnormal Lipids for the past 15 years Amitripile (Ami-25 mg) Alprazolam-1mg ( 15 years) Calcicard-20 mg for BP and added Tozaar-25. My BP level maintains 180/80 mm hg and my age is 59. Please advice and your opinion shall i continue? ## Well, with blood pressure that high, you have to do something to try and bring it down, the 180 is dangerous territory and can create the risk of a heart attack, stroke or congestive heart failure. The Calcicard contains the active ingredient Diltiazem, which is a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions. It may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. Tozaar contains the active ingredient Losartan, which is an ARB, mainly u...
3 REPLIES UpdatedDoes anyone knows about these two medications? (Purposes- pros and cons) ## Fenofibrate is used to help lower cholesterol levels in the blood, it's side effects may include: nausea, headache, constipation and abdominal pain. Learn more: Pascoe Agil is a homepathic product that contains various ingredients, such as calcium, silica and devil's claw and is claimed to help with various arthritic disorders. However, as such, the side effects for it have not been studied and it has not actually been proven to help with anything. Is there anything else I can help with?

1 REPLY Updatedwhat is the side effect of stopping the intake of lipicard suddenly after taking for a few days?? does it shoot up the reduced triglyceride level?? ## If you've only been taking it for a few days, there really shouldn't be any effect to stopping it, it's barely had a chance to begin working, to be honest. It contains the active ingredient Fenofibrate and is commonly used to help lower cholesterol. Is you doctor aware that you are stopping the medication?
1 REPLY UpdatedAmong my prescription of FENOFIBRATE 160MG tablets I noticed another tablet mixed in my prescription bottle which was larger than the other tablets. It is oblong like the regular pills but larger and the letters and numbers are RX901. What is it? ## Same thing just probably different manufacturer. ## Yes, the pharmacy might have had an extra one left over from a prior order that they needed to use up or they were one short on the old bottle when filling this prescription. ## I'm trying to find out if Phentermine 30 should be taken with or with out food? I've lost down from about 280-300 lbs and now need only to lose another 60 lbs. Any help will be considered. But please be kind. At seventy, I feel I need facts more than sarcasm or ridicule.
