False Positive For Benzodiazepines (Page 9) (Top voted first)

I have been testing positive for benzos and i cant figure out why. I have been taking suboxone & Ondansetron & promethazine. Thats it. If i fail another drug test, then my doctor is gonna kick me out. If anybody knows of any common substances, prescription or over the counter medications please inform me. Thanks

That's a total made up like Zoloft does nothing of the sort? I am a pharmacist and I know the majority of you free actually taking benzos and other opiates saying that you're not taking them? Which is very common. Especially for addicts unfortunately. Admitting you have a problem is half the battle actually more than half the battle. There are tests that are known to be false negative and false positive that all you have to do is have them retest the test you took and if it comes up as a false positive again they will charge you as in you paying for the test and then the doctor will proceed accordingly as far as kicking you out of the program as you mentioned. So there's no anomaly in this whole thing I've taking many courses just on this topic alone in the 8 years that I went to school for pharmacology. Because I was a pharmacist MD. So wake up people just trying to help here

Hi Sarah, I have a lot of time on my hands so I try to help out as many people as possible especially because I've been through a lot of the same things and have a lot of training etcetera with this type of stuff so you get it kind of for free here? Anyway it comes down to almost every time that it is a methadone or pain management clinic dealing with take homes or something like that? The whole false positive or false negative can be anything meaning any type of medicine but most of the time it's just someone that wanted to be honest with themselves and might have even buried it in their mind that they didn't take that medicine? If you look it up it's an actual subconscious medical condition.

Have them retest the same exact test and if it's right meaning that it is a negative test then you will be fine. If not and you will have to pay for the test and if you have any steps with your contract you will lose them it's as simple as that there's no magic thing you can do now this happens from time to time nothing's perfect

Tested positive for Benzos. I only take what is prescribed by Doctor. Paxil , divalproex sod dr 500mg, and Budapest, and blood pressure med. I do drink some energy drinks that are herbal. What is causing the positive results?

I got my first false positive ever for benzos... I had been taking Zofran, clonidine , & zanaflex! It showed 89% valuim the weeks before but showed an increase of almost 600%!!! Could these meds cause a false positive for benzos or caused the 600% increase? Help!!!

False positive on urine test for benzodiazepines. I take the following: Pentasa, topamax, celebrex, pantaprazole, lipidor, fish oil, multi vitamins and minerals. Occasionally take Excedrin for migraines

I am on probation they sent me for a drug and alcohol assessment and I failed my drug test for benzodiazepines. I do not take anything like that and my freedom is on the line. Im prescribed percocets, Latuda, I'm taking Tylenol gel capsules, penicillin vk 500 MG, prenatals. And the day before my drug test I got a few shots of novacaine as I got my tooth pulled please help on why this false positive for benzodiazepines showed up please...

What otc drug can show up as benzos? I'm on parole and take buspar, but failed for benzos....... How is this possible? I also failed for methadone but I'm prescribed those for pain. I'm worried cause my freedom is at stake and I don't take benzos at all.

Hi, I had a question and have been looking all over the internet,but can't find any answers. I'm currently in a methadone Maintenance program for Opioid dependency. I take a daily dose of liquid methadone. Last week I had a urine and I had a false positive. I came up for benzos when I have not taken any. But a couple days earlier I took a 10 mg Methadone Pill at home,on top of my dose. Of course I couldn't tell them that. Can methadone pills show up as a benzo in a urine test?

It took 3 months for 6 valium to clear my system, well not even clear, but to get to a level of 25.. it's still there but at really low levels.. It is crazy.. I'm on suboxone & my last test tested positive for cocaine & xanax & I've not taken them in yrs.. It's been 20 since the cocaine.. I have a heart condition that if I DoD I'd die... I think a lot has to do with the labs..

I have numerous times tested positive for benzos. And when this happens I'm treated like a scum bag. There has got to be something we can do? And like I've been hearing is the doctors don't and won't believe or even look into the fact it's something else. For the people that have there freedom on the line makes it horrible. I'm going to do more research. I wish and hope the best for all of you dealing with this crap.

I am also on latuda and percocet and buspirone and ib profin I failed for benzodiazepines I don't take anything in that category but I failed for it the day after the dentist getting tooth pulled and now I pee clean but I don't know I'd it was the dentist or not hope this helps in some way you are not alone to make it worse I'm on probation 5 years reporting so I was freaki ng out I have a 4 year old and a newborn and I'm a single mom a false positive would ruin my life. And they don't even look into it I told them send my pee to a lab not to go off of some cheap panel test mone and my children's whole life is on the line over that stuff.

As you mentioned you had dental work done prior to your false positive? Did the dentist use any sedation prior to your procedure? Often a local anesthetic ( novacaine or lidocaine ) can cause a false positive for cocaine. I have also reviewed a complaint where Ibuprofen in a higher than normal OTC dose caused a false positive for benzodiazepine. That said, these cases are notoriously difficult to substantiate unless the suspect sample that failed the presump. on site test was forwarded to a lab for GC MS testing. This protocol is far more sensitive and measures these substances in a different manner. I'm affiliated with a methadone clinic so we receive daily complaints of false positive findings. Benzos are by far the substance most reported as false. I hope that gives you something to look into. I hope you successfully retain custody of your children. Regards, Kenie

Dentists use medications that can often cause false positives for various substances I'd highly suggest you contact your dental provider and inquire into what anesthetic may have been used during your procedure if any at all. That would be a good starting point.

My Dr looked me in the eye and said he has never seen a false positive test as though this was supposed to somehow convince me that I decided to risk everything to take one of these things. I almost wonder if he even realized that he was looking into my eye and calling me a liar while threatening my functional life.

The problem is that Drs act sure even when it is the simple test without confirmation. I failed two tests and the only possible cause was taking Gabapentin instead of the Lyrica I usually take. I was not offered a test with confirmation and even though the testing companies tell you that you shouldn't make any decisions unless you take the test with confirmation I would have been cut off if I had tested positive again. I was fortunate and had been switched back to Lyrica for other reasons and passed.

Even now I'm at the mercy of a test that is wrong surprisingly often and can look forward to a complete disruption in my life and probably job loss as soon as the odds catch up to me.

The other cool thing is that you are forever marginalized as a competent adult and every appointment becomes about helping you less instead of helping you more. After the first false positive I asked for a better test immediately to prove I was an honest person and he made me wait for a couple of weeks for my system to clear.

Can suboxone cause a false positive for benzos? I tested positive for benzos yesterday in my urine. I have no clue how this happened. I have been on suboxone for a very long time. I have never had a dirty urine ever. Why would this happen? I called my pharmacist and asked her if any of the medications I am taking would affect the test results. She said no but sometimes it will show up as a false positive every so often on a urine test. I am so upset about this. I have been clean for years and this is the first test that has come out positive. Benzos and Valium is on my allergy list because u r not suppose to mix the 2. My Dr looked at me like she didn't believe me which kills me. I know the truth but it makes me sick to my stomach and I cannot stop thinking about this. I just don't want to get kicked out for something I didn't even do. I would like to know why this happens and will it happen every month?

I have taken omeprezole, zoloft, ativan, tramadol, caffeine pills, OTC cold medicine, pseudoephedrine and also chlorpheniramine before my urine drug test. Which one of those would show a false positive for xanax? My test showed xanax in my system and I have never taken it.
