False Positive For Benzodiazepines (Page 11) (Top voted first)

I have been testing positive for benzos and i cant figure out why. I have been taking suboxone & Ondansetron & promethazine. Thats it. If i fail another drug test, then my doctor is gonna kick me out. If anybody knows of any common substances, prescription or over the counter medications please inform me. Thanks

Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can cause a false positives in benzodiazepines. I know because I'm an RN, BSN. Good luck to you!

I am in a Transitional Center in Atlanta and I fear being sent back to prison for testing positive for benzo. I take Prozac, Risperidone, Amlodypine, Hydrochorotbiazide, Atroirastatin, ASA (asprine), Levothroxine, and Nitroquick;
Also CTMs. Why am I getting a false positive on my urine test? I use artificial sweeteners too?

Artificial sweeteners have been said to cause false positives, but there's not too much scientific proof out there to positively say it would.
I would just chill, as long as you know you did nothing wrong, then you'll be just fine. Best of luck!

Have you tried the process of elimination?
If tinge is a factor, they can tell when something is dissipating in your system.

I was going monthly to a pain clinic for my pain medications. They ran a urine toxicology test each month-sometimes at their office and sometimes the specimen was sent out to a lab for more detailed testing. Last month I was told that my urine was specifically positive for Clonazepam. I have never taken a Clonazepam. I was told that the only way it would have a positive result would be that I had taken the drug. I do take Alprazolam and other medications, but not Clonazepam. I asked if the result could be due to another medication or combination of them? Or possibly even just human error? The doctor said no. Please help me with this. Contact me for more info if you wish. I did not take that medication and I was discharged from their clinic.

I am on 10mgs of Methadone 4x's a day. I go to a pain clinic and am tested on a regular basis. The last time they told me I tested positive for Klonopin which there is no way that can happen. I have never taken the stuff and I have no access to it. I also take Gabapentin, Prozac, Benadryl and Ibuprofen. How can a false positive happen? The Dr. said if it happens again I am no longer their patient and will no longer write me a script for Methadone. What can a person do to prove they never took a drug? It's like you are a dirty, untrustworthy person. Please help.

I tested positive for Xanax, and have lung/brain cancer. I take Keppra, Tarceva (chemo pill), and Temazepam. Have not taken anything but Zanaflex for sleep issues and Prednisone for inflammation on my brain. What caused a false positive for Xanax?

I just tested the same , and the only thing I have taken was Kroger brand of Benadryl , nothing else . This is the first time I have tested positive for anything and the worst thing is I hate Xanax .

I was in the ER on June 27th and they prescribed me diazepam 5 mg. I took them and finished most of the prescription. My last dose was July 7th. I had a urine test at my pain management office... They told me my urine showed a positive result for diazepam, and that they are giving me a second chance! I haven't taken any since July. Is it still possible it can show a positive result in September? I've been reading some bad reviews about my center and people have said they were blamed for other meds being present in their urine, and they don't use them!

I'm on 20mg Prozac and I tested false positive for benzodiazepines. I take one Prozac each night and also took two co-codamol yesterday.

I did a bit of research, and benadryl CAN cause a false positive for benzodiazapans! I take Benadryl at night to sleep as well. The only other meds I take are BP meds and Vicodin for pain. It must be true!

Can Lexapro test positive for a benzodiazepine in a urine drug test? I completed a urine test today for work and came back positive for benzos. The only other medication I take is Arava and Coveram. What has caused this?

I have heard that Sertraline (generic Zoloft) can cause false positives for benzos. Also the use of NSAID drugs can.
