False Positive Drug Test Gabapentin (Page 2)

Hi my name is rosie, and I have been on neurontin/gabapentin goin on 2mnths now for my nerve pain n my legs from my diabetes,well ne way I've takin 2 urine test and dey com up positive, I dnt take ne other meds bsides wat my doctor prescribe 4 my diabetes. I take gabapentin 300 mg 1 cap e'er 12 hrs.

I also take Gabapentin/Neurontin and I have tested positive for methadone on numerous instant Immunoassy tests.. These are more than likely the type of test she took. In an instant cup or drip strip. immunoassay tests are false positive for methadone 45% of the time when test by a group of 4300 people. If she said she didn't take methadone and she is taking gabapentin I would say BELIEVE her!

Why do they test for neurontin at rehabs and stuff? it's not a controlled substance or doesn't make you feel high or at least me. So weird, i only got tested for narcotics and I have been to tons of inpatients clinics, pyschwards, all that. not in a long time though. I haven't used any drugs besides methadone which I'm on maintenance for and it saved my life. I'd rather be on methadone than illicit drugs and worry about overdosing but it's been almost 2 years and me and my mind are ready to move on and im coming off of it. Everyone has their own ways of needing to get right. Some people tell me I'm not clean cause I take methadone but why do I care if someone says that. As long as I know I'm not living how I used to be living and not using anything not prescribed or over prescribed idc what people think. Clean or not im not running the streets and having my family worry about me. So i totally dont care if ppl say I'm clean or not cause im not in n.a so idc and that's the only people who get mad when ppl on methadone claim clean time when it's suppose to be what works for some people doesn't work for other people should go to na for support, not for people to debate if methadone is being clean or not. It's not suppose be a religious or political group and no conversation. But when it comes to that it causes it to be just like religion and politics. N.a can be so screwed up and there's always people there putting ppl down or thinking they are better or their way or the highway, they go from extreme addicts to extreme a**holes, like really is this high school reunion or a support group? It's not like that everywhere but most places I've been to have been like that and it's a shame.

Most rehabs do not test for gabaentin. However, Gabapentin can test false positive for some things that thy do test for. But only on immunoassay quick POC tests. If you haven't taken anything that you are being accused of demand a test of the same sample be done at a lab where they conduct a gas chromatograph test. Those do NOT come back false positive. I am sorry that you have had those experiences. I have too and that is one reason I do not like NA or AA meetings. They don't have a good success rate.. nationally about 5%. That may be one of the reasons. If methadone is working to keep you clean of illicit drugs then why mess with that. And if you are taking it as prescribed then you are indeed clean. If that wasn't the case then ANYONE taking a prescription as prescribed would be a dirty addict. I hate that label anyway. I refuse to label ANYONE as a "reccovering addict" addict has a negative stigma. You are above all else a person and if you are working on making yourself better then you are a dang good person. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. There willl always be narrow minded judgeemental people in the world of addiction just like anywhere else. I am glad that you have found something for you that works. I use bupeborphine for that purpose as well. I work for the National Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Association as well as for Dope Inc. Where we try and introduce people needing treatment with available resources and we are always trying to advocate and help people that suffer from addictive disorders. Keep up the good work.

I just came back from my suboxone doctor. I've had seven clean urines. This one today said there was gabapentin in my system!!! I told him it was a mistake. I didnt know this s*** actually happens and it's infuriating cause I dont do anything. I quit smoking and dont drink anything. I'm pissed. So I got a verbal warning. I really hope it doesn't happen again cause I dont know what caused it.

I take 800 mg of gabapentin every 8 hours I'm on drug court and take at least 2 drug tests a week and never came up positive for anything.

Benzoylecgonine and sometimes cocaine metabolites have come up for me. And I only take Metformin, Synthroid, Valsartan, Naproxen, Gabapentin, and sometimes Benardryl for my allergies.

I just took a drug test for the clinic and I tested positive for methadone, which is fine, and opiates, which I haven't taken! I take 800 mg of neurotin. I've tested positive before at the other clinic for opiates when I know I haven't taken any. So my counselor decided to check into the pill neurotin with the lab. They said, "Neurotins have a substance in them that will cause a false positive for opiates."

Hi i am in rehab too and on zubsolv and got a false positive for gabapentin(neuroton) and am on a 30 day restriction! I did not take anything that would even make that show up...i dont know what to do...did i ever get an explanation why u tested for false positive for neuroton?
