False Positive Benzodiazepines (Page 4)

I have been taking suboxone for almost a year and had to move to a new doc. They drug tested me and said I tested positive for benzos. The funny thing is I have not taken ANY benzos. I have to go take another test today at 5 and I am scared s**tless cuz they said if benzos are still in my system then they can not see me. Knowing that I haven't taken any benzos makes me wonder if I might still test positive for it again. I did take some cough syrup and some percs but that is it. What could cause this?

HEY, WELL I JUST CAME HOME FROM FAILING A DRUG SCREEN FOR OPIATES AND BENZOS. NOW THE FUNNY THING IS THAT, I CAN ACCOUNT FOR THE OPIATES, PERCOCETS, BUT THE BENZOS I CANNOT. I TAKE 50 MG OF ZOLOFT, 2MG OF RESPIRADONE, ROBITUSSIN D.M, FLONASE THAT'S IT. WHY WOULD I COME UP POSITIVE FOR BENZOS?

WHAT ONE OF THESE COULD CAUSE YOU TO FAIL A DRUG TEST FOR BENZOS? ROBITUSSIN DM, ZOLOFT, RESPIRADONE, PERCOCET?

Depends on the test that is used - general UA dip test there is possibility for a false positive. GCMS confirmation means no argument, not false positive. It is confirmed because gas chromatograph mass spectrometer can identify exact chemical breakdown of the substance. A lot of the websites out there fail to point out this important difference. I am an attorney and I never believe the crap I read on the Internet :)

My doc did urine test i knew i was getting he said it showed methaphatmine i take sle lupus methtrexate plavix fentynal oxycodone i wasnt shown results after five years just the door.

I literally failed a urine screen for benzox while taking Atarax. The lab finally cleared it up, but you CAN most def fail for Benzos for Atarax. Also energy drinks will throw off a urine screen

Your attorney is incorrect. I tested false positive for ANGEL DUST/PCP which i have never seen or used. It ended up being thrown out of court ...my antidepression medicine EFFEXOR caused a false positive agreed all...my attorney, the d/a, the judge, the test administrators/doctors across the board. Your attorney is WRONG. ...and i'm not sure if this is true, but angel dust and pcp hasn't even been around since the seventies...so why the heck are they testing for it if the drug can't even be found...lol...

I've been on Suboxone of 3 months and i haven't taken anything else ..... not even aspirin! i tested positive for benzos. My Dr sent it off to be certified, he told me he sees this all the time with Suboxone patients and 90% of the tests sent out come back clean. I haven't received my results back yet but ill keep you posted.

I am in drug court and I have been clean for about 15 months on the suboxone program, today I found out oin July 30 drug court tox me and it came back positive for benzos! I am in the middle of getting my children back outta cps custody and would NEVER use to jepordize that! I am currently on the suboxone, lithium, strattera, and intunive and take benadryl frequently for bad outdoor allergies... My drug court officer is sending it to the lab becasue its more accurate apparently. I have never had a dirty tox since been in drug court for over a year and my children are supposed to be coming home come October and Im supposed to graduate from drug court as well. My suboxone doctor toxed me on Aug 3 which was 3 days later and it was negative. I am freaking out, I cant go to jail and most of all I cannot lose my kids. I worked hard to get to where I am today and I need to figure this out! I didnt use and benzos and have no idea what to do PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have been clean for about 2 years now and I had a a sinus infection and used nyquil and on a daily basses I uses weight training supplimets such as protein critene and a critene concentrate which I purchased at Walmart and when I did a standard NYS 5 panel drug test the last panel which I was told is for benzo came up positive is any of my supplimets or possibly the NyQuil the reason for this please help

IN UK docs should not be allowed to take away your script or threaten just for using nbenzoes ontop of methadone... it is punatice, if you are ona maintenance script then they have n o right making threats, it's your choice what drugs you take, they are there to help.... contact Methadone Alliance for help... i think they may now be called The alliance... they should not be treating u this way, long term users should not get this hassle....

any nsaid like naproxsen or even advil and cough medicine will cause a false positive stay away from cough medicine and natrual vitimins also if u take cough medicine with methadone it will kill u it has happend to 3 people in my family so if u get sick goto the hospital and make sure u tell them that u need something that will mix with methadone alright dont forget

I currently tested positive for Benzodiazepine and was totally thinking I was getting railroaded, so I went and had my own UA done and it was positive also. I have taken X-tra strength Tylenol pretty much daily, 2 tabs BID and use a Symbicort inhaler BID. Ive been a nurse for over 25 years and never tested positive for anything. My career is at stake and my reputation. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Those are benzo's . I don't know who is telling you they aren't. I was on methadone for a year. I am 32. and was doing okay to get off the drugs but honestly the suboxin did better for me

I too am on Methadone. I've been going to the same Methadone clinic now for about 4 years. I'm on 80mgs of the pink colored liquid. This past weekend, my take-home bottle (I get one take-home bottle/dose per week because they're closed on Sundays) leaked. Apparently the cap on the bottle wasn't screwed on straight and was cross-threaded just enough to where it leaked out. The bottle fell onto its side sometime Saturday afternoon I'm guessing because when I got up Sunday morning, the bottom of my refrigerator was sticky and the medicine was all over the place. Needless to say, to make a long story short.. I didn't have my Sundays dose. So, I got ahold of an old friend and he gave me a 1mg blue (blue football shaped) Xanex and he told me that, that's all I should take since I had been taking Methadone for so long.. and that 1mg wouldn't hurt me, but would keep the methadone withdrawal symptoms at bay and would definitely help me sleep that night. So anyhow, I'm only one month away from being moved up from phase #1 up to phase #2 and sure enough, yesterday.. I was given a urine test at the clinic and I'm 95% sure that the dang Xanax I took is going to show up on the test.. which will delay me from being able to move up to phase #2 next month.

My question is, is there ANYTHING out there that I could tell them that I took to help me sleep.. that would show up as a benzo, without having to tell them I took a 1mg Xanax?? I know I shouldn't have taken it.. but I was just in between a rock and a hard place to tell ya the truth.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.. appreciated more than you probably even realize.

I just don't want to have 90 days added to my time to move up to phase #2. I mean, it wasn't really my fault, technically. Technically it was the nurses fault when she handed me my Sundays take-home dose this past Saturday morning.

So yeah, if anyone knows of anything that might register as a benzo (besides Xanax and the usual suspects) that I could tell them I took and maybe get away with it.. man, I would be forever greatful to you.

I know like Robitussin em and other things would make u a false positive for benzos but most methadone clinics send the test out so there is no denying it. Also some clinics make u get reduced to 30 ml when u fail for benzos because your not allowed to take them while on methadone. However, Xanax are not as bad a Valium and get out of ur system in 7 to 10 with water. I've known a couple people to pass after 3 days. Ur best bet would be to tell them what happened sometimes they understand an

Boy did I luck out. I got my urine test (drugs test) results back this morning and I had to go talk with my counselor at the Methadone clinic this morning. She told me that I failed it. I knew I would fail it.. and sure enough I failed it for the benzo's because I took that 1mg Xanax (1 single blue football).

Hpwever, I do have good news! I can retake the piss-test, but, I have to pay for it. It's like $30 or $35 dollars to do a re-take urine test at the clinic. She says that as long as the new one comes back clean, not only will I get reimbursed for the $30 or $35 dollars that I'll have to pay for the new urine test... but also that as long as I pass the re-take test, it won't be counted against me and it will be like I never even failed it to begin with.. and I'll still be on track to be moved up to phase #2 on the first week of November of this year.

To say the least, I'm very excited and feel extremely blessed to be given a second chance to redeem myself!!

Also, I've decided that I will no longer be double-dosing on the weekends.. its just too risky. Too risky in many ways.

Anyhow, thanks to any/all of you who chimed in to me and tried helping/giving me advice. I appreciate you guys more than you'll ever know and I mean that!! Thanks.

The cough syrup sometimes shows up as a false positive. I would tell them to send to lab to prove yourself if u test positive again
