Fentanyl Patch (Page 8) (Top voted first)
UpdatedCAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO KEEP THE PATCH FROM COMING OFF AFTER SECOND DAY ? I SHOWER A COUPLE TIMES A DAY AND ON THE SECOND DAY THE PATCH WON'T STAY ON.THEN YOU USE MORE THAN WHAT IS PERSCRIBED AND YOU RUN OUT OF PATCHES AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T PAY FOR ANY MORE THAN PERSCRIBED, THEN COMES WITHDRAWAL?
I used heavy duty super stick band aids. Works great.
No soap on the skin either...just rinse with water and make sure your skin is dry before applying...I have no problem with it staying on.
I use tagaderm patches over mine, but it is getting costly to have to keep purchasing them. I was going through the same problem, but I swim in a pool daily so I need to find out how can I get help with getting the cover patches sent to me?
Please be aware that a hot shower, bath or any heat source could speed up the absorption rate of the patch. In a few cases leading to death. Again "a few cases". But please promise that you will read more information about your patch. Specifically the side and withdrawal effects. I am on day 11 of withdrawals and it's really bad still. But not everyone will have the extent of severe symptoms as I do. But varies from person to person. Not what you go through, but rather the level of difficulty. I wish you well.
Tagaderm patches over fent PATCH will keep it on very well.
I ran out and am withdrawaling and I just lost my doctor. I am desperate and cant function. I wear mylan 100 mcg patches, but I can also take 75. Can anyone help me find a new doctor...? {edited for privacy}. I am in the east bay area of California.
Thank you!! That Tegaderm stuff may be effective but at the cost I'd have to keep wearing the same Tegaderm film over and over, yikes!
Me too. I lost my doc and so sick. If anyone can help with new doc info etc., pls let me know {edited for privacy}
Tincture of Benzoin - Its a surgical skin prep liquid that they use to help tape adhere for patients that will have an IV in for a long period of time or who have a wound dressing. I am an ex surgical nurse and I am also supposed to be wearing the patch but I lost my doctor and I have no patches at all and I'm miserable.... I've been reliant on them for 8 years following a back injury..... Good Luck..... and pray for me to find another doctor who will give them to me bc I can't hardly function.. .UGH!!!! Sincerely, Rachelle {edited for privacy}
You are not supposed to drink it... use it to wash off the patch area....ha ha ha...just kidding....have used alky to clean the area but still falls off...I am considering 16d nails or horseshoe staples...the fentanyl would kill the pain of the nails or staples..right?
I can see many people have lots of ideas but I hope mine will help you. If you are using a patch that has the gel in it or if the entire patch does not have the sticky across and down the entire part that you place against your skin, you will have these problems. My solution is the manufacturer. Ask your pharmacist to order your patches from APOTEX as they are a thicker piece of soft tape material that 100% secures to your skin from edge to edge. It will not come loose. I put it on my back so I don't brush up against it. If you sweat a lot, I would ask the pharmacist or call the manufacturer for further help. Good Luck!
brands make a difference I can not tell you which ones work best as I am not on it. but I did well with all until last ones the pharmacy got and they had this problem. they are giving you the cheapest.
You can't reuse the Tegraderm overlay to keep patch on. As you may have already found out.
yes It is called "Tegaderm adhesive" & Amazon Carries it. It works really well and is Transparent.
You may use a Tegaderm clear dressing. They worked for me but they are expensive.
I use the clear elbow/knee sized Tagaderm patches. They are sold in pharmacies. I get mine in Wal Mart-$2.37 for a box of 8. My Dr. also has me change them every 48 hrs. to help control my back pain.
I solved the problem of my estrogen patch falling off by 1st scrubbing my skin with Hibitane (Germasil will also work) and leaving it on up to a minute before rinsing off thoroughly. Once skin is dry, apply the patch and ensure complete adhesion by rubbing over it with a dry cloth or towel for about 10 seconds. I have found it to be 100% successful. Patch stays on for the entire 7 days and I have to really peel it off.
Apotex was better for me. but used to have much better ones. when they had the gel inside. when they changed, and medication was more evenly distributed, they don;t stay attached sometimes even one day.
Getting off fentanyl is not easy, first of all you need support, second you need a good doctor, one that listens to you, every one is different and getting off fentanyl has a different withdrawal for every person. What works for me may not work for you. I was on a 50 every 48 hours for the last four years, and a 50 every 72 hours before that. The medicine did take care of the pain I was having but not without giving me other problems., like they say be careful what you wish for. Now for getting off the drug the first time I failed, I couldn't deal with the withdrawal and the family problems that was happening at that time. That made me think I need a plan to do this so the first two months of getting off fentanyl I just went from 48 hours to 72 hours very little withdrawl, then cut to 37 for two months then 25 for two months, than to a 12 for two months now off completely. With very little withdrawl. So yes it took a while to get off but it worked. And yes you need someone to tell you don't give up there is life after fentanyl
fentyl patch falling off. talk to your pharmacist. they can tell you if you can apply tape or another adhesive or order from a different generic. Apotex worked better than Mylan. talk to your pharmacist.
