Fear Of Flying In An Earoplane

MY DOCTOR PRESCRIBED URBANOL 10MG FOR MY SON AND MYSELF AS WE ARE TERRIFIED OF FLYING AND HAVE A TRIP TO CAPETOWN IN A WEEKS TIME- I DID A TEST RUN 2 DAYS AGO THE DOSAGE BEING HALF A TAB 3 TIMES A DAY AND IT DID NOTHING FOR EITHER OF US. AS MY SON SUFFERS FROM SEVER STRESS AND ANXIETY I DONT WANT TO HAVE A HUGE SCENE AT THE AIRPORT. IS URBANOL THE BEST FOR THIS AND SHOULD WE INCREASE OUR DOSAGE.

Research at the Stamford University School of Medicine found benzodiazepines blocked desensitization and increased sensitivity to flight. CBT may reduce anxiety-producing thoughts but does not stop release of stress hormones when the amygdala reacts to unfamiliar motions and noises. Anxiety about being up high, not in control, and unable to escape may be more than CBT or meds can help with. Try methods detailed in book: "SOAR, The Breakthrough Treatment for Fear of Flying."

well I was expecting the meds to be semi sedative and to relax us but it didnt seems to do anything as anxiety builds up to our departure date the fear and anxiety is so draining that I(personally) dont sleep and by the time we depart Im feeling quiet sickly. My son on the other hand because he suffers from extreme stress and anxiety gets himself all worked up and experiences terrible pains in his chest and arms (which our local GP has linked to overstimulation of Adrenalin (my son is 13). So I was just hoping to get something that would relax us through the strip to a certain extent whith out completely sedating us. LOL

I'm going to fly to Europe from South Africa,I don't fly for 16 years,because I have panic attacks,the last time they put me on oxygen during a flight. I went to my doctor ask for something to help me and he gave me Urbanol 10 mg,do you thing that will help?im already panic and the flight is on April 15. Please give me advise.
