Extreme Fatigue On Xarelto (Page 3)

Hello,
Hope someone can help. I've been hitting a wall of fatigue everyday about 1pm to the point where I need to take a 2 hour nap when my daughter is napping and its painful to wake up even after that. I take Xarelto everyday with dinner to treat a DVT. I've been on it 4 months. Is this a known side effect? I tested my theory when I started to realize this began after taking Xarelto and skipped a dose one evening. The following day I didn't need a nap and didnt have that same debilitating exhaustion. I'm only 34 this is no time to be this tired after a full nights sleep! It feels like a crash, an unnatural exhaustion. Thanks!
I asked both my PCP and my hematologist. Both said xarelto should not cause fatigue. I had a PE in late December after having total hysterectomy in Nov. from uterine cancer. I definitely fight fatigue and have to lay down at least an hour a day. I am 66 and work two days a week. I have to lie down when I get home.
I just changed to Eliquis, no side effects. Xeralto was horrible. Ask your doc to change.
Also talk with your pharmacist, mine very helpful. Good luck
After a prior comment (see Beth above), I wanted to add that I experienced both extreme fatigue and severe depression when I took Xarelto. Both of these symptoms were resolved when I changed to another blood thinner. I am making this comment in case it helps validate the symptoms experienced by others. The medicine may have different side effects for different patients, of course, but I wanted to share my experience.
Yes, I have been on Xarelto and experienced extreme fatigue. In my case, we were able to switch to another blood thinner, Lovanox, which in my case is daily and in shot form. While I do not like the shot it is preferred over extreme fatigue. Ask your physician about possible other choices and good luck!
I am also on Xarelto, have been for 45 days now. I'm a super active person but I just feel tired all the time! I have a clot in my knee and calf do to a vein ablation I had done in March. I went in today for an ultrasound and no improvement. How long will this go on for?
Ive been on xarelto for 14 months from a PE and due to a autoimmune that makes my blood clot, so i have to be on it for life. My first 6 months on this med was amazing, i had so much energy i chalked it up to never having correct blood flow from my auto-immune. But after the first 6 months i now feel extreme fatigue, joint and muscle aches like you wouldn't believe, headaches too. As you may know we are not allowed to take anti-inflammatory meds so i have no way to ease my pain and i am so frustrated by this that i want to get off xarelto even though dr.s say no. Can anyone relate?
My husband is now taking this around 8pm each night. The fatigue during the day has been reduced greatly and he has been able to continue working pretty much full time. Wondering if Vit B shots are safe with this. We still are hoping this med is not life long for him. Many questions will be asked of the dr at his next checkup!
same results. Sometimes the effects are worse than the problem. I have also experienced severe fatigue. Had to quit work. I could sleep all afternoon if I lay down. very frustrating. My internist suggested I remain on Xarelto for life as I developed an unprovoked DVT and small PE> She is not that keen on letting me off as I have been on it 6 months and feels I should be on for life. I need to make a decision on quality of life
Katie were you able to get off xarelto in July? Either way, how are you feeling now?
My husband is on Xarelto and he sleeps 16 - 18 hours out of 24. Exhausted even though he does nothing, he has AFIB. he gets really weak also even shaving and has to sit, get up do a little more. So worried. Any updates? Thanks
How did you stop xaerlto did you wean yourself off ?
I started taking Xarelto after 3 blood clots appeared in my lungs after having surgery for 3 ankle fractures in January 2015. I've noticed extreme fatigue and a rise in my blood sugar levels as well as a rise in my blood pressure. I am due to stop in July of 2015 and truly hope I get back to normal. I think the side effects of this drug are awful. I'll let you know how things turn out when I stop taking this drug.
Glad I found this post I think my symptoms are mild compared to some of yours.
I crash about one every day.
Hey I have been taking this for two days due to a blood clot in my breast I'm a 34 year old female and very active at the gym, I work full time and am finding I'm so exhausted it's horrible also feeling really dehydrated
hi, I have a pe and started xarelto 2 x a day 1 week ago, by 3 pm I can barely
drive home from work and by my second dose at dinner time I'm ready for
bed at 8, I tell everyone when I sleep at nite it must be as close to being dead
as you can get, I am just that tired and sleep that sound. The fatigue is unreal
I can't wait for my 6 months to be up.
It does getter better. I switched to evenings and this helped tremendously. (about 8pm every night) I took it for 7 months and finally stopped last week. I've noticed a difference already in my energy level. Hope you feel better soon!
Been on xarelto about four weeks was a very active person.I'm 51 and been in training in mma for two years, now I do good to make it eight hrs of work this i a terrible side effect the fatigue is mind boggling hope it improves got five more months.
Since taking Xeralto I have had to same problem, seems like I am tired all the time. Also have gained weight after maintaining the same weight for years. Glad to know I am not the only one having this problem.
Have you told your doctor? What do they say?
