I recently tested positive for methadone, which I have never done before. The only explanation is that I had taken 75mg equate diphenhydramine the night before. Is this the possible cause? I am very confused and frustrated.

no it's not. DPH can cause false positives for methadone but suboxone has absolutely nothing to do with methadone. suboxone does not metabolize into methadone. suboxone will never ever bring up a positive for methadone.

I am a client with Well Care, they are out of Reno NV. I was informed that I was positive for methadone and oxycodone, I am in recovery for alcohol. I take over the counter sleep aid which contains Diphenhydramine. I could loose my residence here because of this s***.

It's definitely possible to get a false positive result for heroin, even if you've never touched or seen heroin in your entire life. It happened to me, not once, not twice, but 11 times in a row!! I nearly had a heart attack when I was informed the first time and became really upset because I didn't want people to think that I had actually done that. The only thing I've ever taken was opiates (Vicodin, Percocet). I'm on suboxone and test weekly in order for me to get my prescription. My urine was sent off for further testing, and each time it proved to be false. The only other meds that I take, besides suboxone, is BC powder for migraines that I get frequently, and the generic unisom to help me sleep. It's one of the two that's causing the false positives. I was also told after the first test came back positive, and it was sent off for further testing, that having a urinary track infection can also cause a false positive. I didn't have a UTI, so it's either the sleepaid, or BC powders that were causing these false positives. I hope everything worked out, because I know how frustrating it can be when this happens and you know you haven't done anything wrong.

Methadone is the breakdown of a suboxone so if your doctor isnt smart enough to let you know that then maybe they dont need to be a doctor

DPH causes false positives for Methadone. It's common. Tell your physician or whoever to look it up if they don't already know, a simple Google search will provide a few legit articles/medical journals about it.

This has happened to me twice while in the process of trying to get custody of my kids back. I've been on suboxone for 3yrs and the only either needs ice taken were over the counter sleep aide. I've been treated horribly and even have had a cups case opened against me. I've been so discouraged. I'm still fighting and will not give up. But I have had to stay up to the point of exhaustion because I can't take nothing to help me sleep that won't false positive for something I don't and never take. Wish I had more advice.
