Entyvio Self Inject Method To Avoid Muscle

When I first started self injecting Entyvio, I believe it went into the muscle. The instructions say nothing about bringing up the skin to make sure of a subcutaneous injection. So, I have started pinching the skin to get that result. I was wondering why this isn't in the instructions. thank you

You’re right that the official instructions for Entyvio self-injection don’t mention pinching the skin, even though that’s a common technique used in subcutaneous injections to help ensure the medication goes into the fatty tissue and not deeper.

The likely reason this step isn’t included is because the instructions are designed to be as simple and standardized as possible, so they can work across a wide range of body types and experience levels. The manufacturer often assumes that using the suggested injection sites (like the abdomen or thigh), combined with the injector’s fixed needle depth, will naturally result in a proper subcutaneous injection for most users - without needing extra technique.

That said, pinching the skin isn’t wrong, and in many clinical settings, it is recommended depending on the individual. So you’re not doing anything incorrect by adjusting your method to feel more confident that you’re getting the medication where it’s intended to go.

Thanks again for raising this - it’s a great point and one that others are probably wondering about too.
