My 91 year old Mom was switched to Eliquis and has been totally exhausted and suffering from confusion and memory loss. Anyone else having the confusion/memory loss issue?
Re: Linda (# 35)
If you read all these comments I would think it would scare you! If my Dr would try to put me on it again I would refuse.
I started Eliquis 5 mg and immediately had issues! I was taking it due to a blood clot in my leg! I couldn’t eat! I had no appetite which was the very first time in my life that had ever happened! I lost 15 lbs. in a month. Everything tasted bad and texture bothered me. My teeth ached the whole time I was on it and still do. All I could eat for a month was ramen and Mac and cheese. I have gradually gotten better and am getting off it now. My Dr and pharmacist looked it up and said those aren’t symptoms of Eliquis, but it was the only thing I changed! Has anyone had these symptoms?

Hey I saw your post. I’m on Eliquis and experiencing uti like symptoms with the constant urge to go and urethra soreness. I got tested for uti and yeast and both negative. Do you have those symptoms as well?
Anyone experience uti-like symptoms on Eliquis? Tested for uti and negative. It doesn’t burn but there's a constant urge to go and urethra pain.
My 79 year old husband started having very bad confusion 6 months ago after taking Eloquis for his A fib.His speech is also getting worse.
Can u take eliquis with a BMI over 40? I am taking warfarin now and would like to switch but my dr says no and I know 2 people who are on it.
My 81 yr old mother started taking Eliquis about 6 mos ago. She has developed delusional thinking. She will be having a normal conversation and then she says something that I absolutely know to be untrue ! For example: A news crew was at the house interviewing her.
Yes my mom is 95 now and has been on this med for 2 years. she has more memory loss, confusion and weakness. doctors do not want to take her off. I feel she will do better with aspirin. my mother does have a-fib and she needs a blood thinner, but this has so many side effects. Not sure what the alternative would be???? I'm very concerned and I feel the doctors will not do anything about it. I've asked others about their experiences a couple years ago as well.

Are you taking a baby aspirin or the 80(ish)mgs? I do not want to take this stuff. Please tell me an aspirin will save me?
Regarding Eliquis and frequent urinating, no it's not in your head. It actually acts like a diuretic. I take my first dose of 5mgs in the morning and remain put because I will have to pee for the next hour or so then all is o.k. However, my bedtime dose is a much different thing, going from perhaps once to the loo, it could be 3-4 times all with very large amounts of urine. Then there is the sweating in my head and neck area without a doubt linked to this drug along with feeling tired but can't sleep; total sleep is about 2-3 hours per night. Would really appreciate it if anyone can tell me how often does your g.p (doc) arrange for your Renal Function to be carried out? I was originally told every year but 2 years since I had blood work done. I know it's not the same as being on Warfarin where you are basically having blood work done/weekly/monthly but I feel there is a bit of neglect while being on this drug. Toothache type pains at tips of fingers like an electric shock, anyone got that? Yes, I think it's time that all of us taking this medication demand updates on contraindications on this drug and updates where this company is at this moment with an antidote.
Hi. I had TIA's last week and was in the hospital for 6 days. I came home 2/7.
Cannot remember if I took Eliquis tonight. What if I possibly take it again?
Help asap...new to this stuff, dammit!
Mine were like that. It was like having ms with so much pain in my thighs and couldn’t walk far or lift much. I was like I was in a daze. I had itchiness all over too. After 11/2 years I’m off. Within in five days my life cane back. I’m taking an aspirin a day now.
I experienced a GI bleed with Xarelto, requiring 2 pts of blood 4 yrs ago. Now I'm on day 2 of Eliquis. With my history, if this drug might possibly do the same thing, how long before it would turn up either via stool or urine? Generally speaking.... i.e. days, weeks, etc?
Yes same here with my mother. I wished the doctors would just ween her off and just give her asprin my mother is 95 now and has been on this since 2015. It makes me very frustrated.
I was told by my cardiologist that I would never need an INR while taking Eliquis. Is that true and how do I know its working? I have paroxysmal a-fib.
I started my period at the hospital last month right before my iv with blood thinners. My period didn’t last long, only a few days and wasn’t very heavy at all. Which was very unusual for me. I was in the hospital for 6 days. They eventually put me on eliquis a few days before releasing me. I started my period Sunday the 10th and the first day was good. The second day was extremely heavy and very dark. I’ve had cramps and everything but it’s 1:09 am on the 15th of the month and I’m laying here in pain, feeling pressure on my lower stomach and like something is trying to rip my uterus out. I went to the bathroom thinking I needed a bowel movement but lost a big blood clot instead. I thought it was my tampon that came out but it came out a few minutes later. I’m scared and I don’t know what to do. I can’t find any information on this and if it’s normal or not. I’m scared to take anything for pain. How heavy & painful should your period be on eliquis?
Re: Gael (# 4)
My Uncle is going through all the side effects now. If taken of Eliquis, what is the replacement.
I have been on Eliquis since May and can't get a night's sleep. I'm still awake after 6 - 7 hours, lacking an appetite, having some memory loss and it's taking a toll on my life, and as of late, causing low energy as well.
My Dr has placed me on Eliquis and I am having heavy periods & severe cramps with this blood thinner. Has anyone had this problem?
My mother is 95 and has A-fib and since Dec. 2015 had CHF.. they put her on Eliquis 2 X daily and she's had more confusing and dementia. I feel she isn't doing well at all on this medicine, but the cardiologist will not take her off. I feel she would have done better with the aspirin a day. I know there are side effects on all these meds. some are not proven harmful or taken off market until people start die. So, sad.. I feel helpless and I have started giving her only one pill a day instead of 2. When we go to her next doctor's appointment I will explain to him why!
