i have diabetes type 2 are these safe to take ??

Hi cathy,

Ephedrine is the principal active ingredient in the herb ephedra or effergin.

Contraindications for this drug state the following:

Ephedrine should be used with caution in patients with inadequate fluid replacement, impaired adrenal function, hypoxia, hypercapnia, acidosis, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, prostatic hypertrophy, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, during delivery if maternal BP > 130/80 mmHg, and lactation.

Because diabetes "is" listed above, I would strongly advise discussing the safety of its use with your doctor, as each individual may react differently to it.

If you find that you are able to use it, might I ask for what purpose you're using it for? If for weight loss, I find that controlling your diet and exercise is the best thing you can do for "long term" success in my honest opinion, since this drug may not be available long term.
