Hi, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. I went to my OB last week and she told me that I was ovulating. And then my boyfriend accidentally ejaculated inside of me. After 20hrs I took the first 4 pills, and took the next 4 an hour late (because I fell asleep). Help me please? Is there a possibility I could get pregnant? Please, I'm really scared.

Hi po! Call me patty. I'm 19 and a virgin. We had made out but still there was pre ejaculated fluid and we were not sure if may napunta sa may vaginal area. Naparanoid kmi ng boyfriend ko but still we decided that i take the nordette. Nov. 30 yung first period ko and Dec. 08 may spotting pa ako. And Dec. 10 2pm namin ginawa yung deed and i took the nordette earlier today mga 5pm. And i am taking later the second dose. Tig 4 pills. Kasi yun naman yung sinasabi na dosage. As in paranoid na kami nh boyfriend ko. Malaki po ba ang chance na d ako preggy? I really need answers please. And if wala naman po talaga okay lang ba na ininom ko yung nordette? Ano po mangyayari?

@patty nordette is an emergency contraceptive pill or ecp when taken 4 pills in 2 doses. It is also an ocp or regular contraceptv pill when taken regularly. In your case, you took it in within the golden time frame as an ecp.. The only side effect is that it could alter your cycle. The withdrawal bleed will come between 7-10 days to 15 days at most. You will experience vomiting or mood changes but it will go away. If you took it in the right time, and you are sure there was no sperm inside you, then plus nordette, i think you are safe. Preejac pregs are not common altho it can happen but since pre ejacs do not contain sperm, i think you wont be. Just watch out for your side effects. That should be it.

Good day guys! My girl friend and I had unprotected sex last Nov. 28, 2016 (Monday, somewhere during 8-9 pm). It was withdrawal method, but I was a bit worried about pre-cum. So, my girlfriend took 4 pills of Nordette on Nov. 29 (Tuesday, 9:31 pm) and the next dose of 4 pills on Nov. 30 (Wednesday, 9:31 am). Five days after the second dose, her bleeding started (December 5, 2016, 11 pm-ish) until now (December 13, 2016). It was like her period if she could recall, bright red blood with some solids during her 2nd and 4th day. We took a pregnanct test today, and it turned out to be negative. I would like to ask the following:

a. How could you differentiate withdrawal bleeding to menstrual bleeding? If it is withdrawal, how long does it usually happen?
b. When is the best time to check for pregnancy again?
c. Is painful cramping fet during bleeding? (She is experiencing pain in her lower abdominal region) Do you guys also experience the same thing?
d. Is Nordette effective in our case?

Hi, you can call me jennie. Okay to start off, my period always comes on 11th of the month (for about 5 months) but last month on November 14 na dumating yung period ko. Then on the last day of my period (which usually ends after 5-6 days) on November 19 at around past 11AM my bf ejaculated inside me for the first time. I let him because I was thinking that it wasn't the time of my fertile windows or my ovulation yet kaya lower chance to get pregnant but then I got paranoid and scared so he decided to get nordette for me. I took the first dosage of nordette at 1:03PM of the same day and the second dosage at 1:05AM. I experienced nausea, tiredness and sleepiness.

5 days later (Nov 24) i had withdrawal bleeding, first 2-3 days heavy yung flow kaso pero parang lighter yung feeling unlike sa real na menstruation na parang thick if that makes sense. Then naging regular-ish yung flow then nung Last two days naging spottings nalang (Nov. 29-30).

So bale from Nov 24-30 yung bleeding. However, the deed happened again on Nov. 30 but we used the withdrawal method.

Today is Dec 14. One month has passed since my last period. I can't help but feel anxious in thinking whether I'm pregnant or not. Specially may nagawa paring deeds this month (using withdrawal method) I've read that nordette will mess with the menstrual cycle but I wonder for how long?

Hi kentucky, first of all nordette is an emergency pills so the dosage is usually different from the usual regular pill. Since You took the right dosage within the time frame, the withdrawal bleed experienced is the effect of nordette. It means that it has inhibited fertilization/delay ovulation. Differentiation between menstrual is that menstrual bleed occurs during the regular cycle. While withdrawal bleed occurs as a side effect of nordette and it can occur after 5-15 days max after taking nordette. Cramping is also common since taking 8 pills in just one day would really force the body to react and one of them is cramping. With regards to preg test, may i know what day of the cycle did you deed? Usually preg test will test positive 10 days after ovulation. Nordette is effective if taken with the right dose in the right time frame. I think the failure rate is low.

Hi jennie. I think nordette did messed up your cycle. Since you took it on your last day and there was also withdrawal bleed, nordette did its job. Some return to their regular cycle after 3 cycles and really it could alter your menstrual cycle when you take nordette so its not advisable to take it everytime because you would lost count. Anyway, since your concern is the preg thing, you might want to do preg test first. If youre sexually active, taking a regular contraceptive pill might be a better idea. Some withdrawal methods are not that reliable unless theres good control. So those are options.

Also additional question: do i have higher risk on getting pregnant given the fact that i took nordette as ecp 2 hours after the deed and followed the instructions, but did the deed again without protection only withdrawal method on Nov. 30 which was the last day of spottings of withdrawal bleeding

@calendargirl hello po, is it safe po ba to use nordette as ocp? i just finished my last pill today? actually it is already my 2nd usage..i finished the first 21 pills last month ang continued another pill during the 8th day of my pill free days, that was after my wb..i would like to ask if continued use of nordette as ocp will alter my menstruation or wb? or my wb will still fall on my free pill days?

Hi crush, after the 21 days pill days come another 7 days of tab free days thats when your wb will come. it will always come on your tab free days. Remember to take the regular pills same time everyday. It will regulate your menstrual cycle too. That way, you can count your cycle days better.

I took the pregnancy test yesterday afternoon. It was negative but I still feel unsure though. Earlier around 2pm I went to a wholesale place and it was really crowded there. I started to feel uneasy and when I went out I felt a little dizzy and this feeling like I wanna throw up. When I got home I started to feel back pain then felt sleepy. Later on my body felt warm. 'Til now I still have back pain and i feel a little weak.. Cant help but to think maybe some of those feelings are pregnancy symptoms. I'll take another pt tomorrow morning.

@jennie. The symptoms are side effects of nordette. Each responds differently. Some do not even have side effects at all. I think with a negative preg test, it will be negativ already all throughout because if you were pregnant it would turn out positive already since you took nordette last month and it has inhibited ovulation last month. Taking the ecp after 2 hours is very ideal. Well unless you had penetration without any barrier method after that, you wouldnt be pregnant really. Its been already one month, if you are pregnant, the result would show. Taking pt everyday is just making you anxious all the more. Its also not practical but some do out of paranoia. Its up to you though.

@jennie. Remember that withdrawal method is not always reliable when it comes to contraception. Nordette is only use as an emergency option so hopefully you do not always use it. You can opt for regular ocp so that your cycle will be more balanced.

@crush: it depends. If you missed one dose 24-48 hours from the time it shud be taken or late pill less than 24 hrs, take one again then asap then take the actual pill on the same time. So its like taking 2 pills but On the same day.

@calendargirl Thank you for your advice! I highly appreciate it. My menstruation came today and I've never been this happy for my period lol. I won't take Nordette as an ecp ever again because it's just horrible to go through to those side effects and anxiety if it worked or not. And I will be really careful and make sure to use protection next time. Thank you again!

@jenniedumb its good news. Its always good news when it comes with ecp-centered stories. Yes just be careful next time because ecps are really known to cause menstrual changes. Ocp are better alternatives.
